  5. Ahhh, OK very nice! Longer screws is the answer, eliminates the need to rotate everything when using the other 2 holes in the mount which are offset by 90 degs! Cool!
  6. Very neat! A couple of double ups happening there as well...Garmin to Garmin to GoPro! How did you get that Garmin mount to fix to the out-front mount?
  7. I have a need as well...out front mount, Garmin Edge on top, Garmin UT 800 light below. I have a GoPro adaptor for the mount underneath but because I'm a lazy git, I don't want to always un-screw the light from the GoPro mount....so I searched for. Garmin - GoPro adapter, found one in Thingiverse: So then bolted a Garmin mount to underside of out-front mount but the issue is that it can only be mounted 90degs off from the top mount...which means that if you use the Thingiverse mount, the light is off by 90 degs. So I jimmied the drawing and rotated the GoPro "ears" 90 degs and printed a few modified GoPro mounts. All works nice but the unit does take a beating and the 3D print units are a bit brittle (EPX), would love the entire Garmin and GoPro adaptors to be machined out of ally.

  11. I have also gone down the solar rabbit hole! from 830 to 1040 solar...my main reason was to get a bigger display🥸, and the solar was the only one locally available. So now after 3 weeks, in the Middle East nogal, I can tell you that if you are a local weekend warrior and maybe have a few more rides during the holidays, then solar is a waste. I commute every day and do longer rides on the weekends and I do see some benefit...very small. But now its coming winter, in and out from work, I get no solar at all...of course. Also during normal daytime rides, the unit is in your shadow a lot of the time and you can see from the widget how the charge fluctuates as it goes in and out of shadows. One last very frustrating issue: when you switch off the unit, it says place it in direct sun to get a solar charge! Nope, big nope...it is so sensitive to temperature that it will inevitable overheat and stop any solar charging. Also, no Garmin person will actually admit that solar charging does not work while it is off, despite the marketing or manuals. However, if you do long rides like bike packing then there for sure will be some gain...from what I understand the solar actually runs the device and any excess charge goes to charging the battery. But it will mean long hours in the saddle! In the blazing sun, at midday, mostly...so yeah... I'm happy I got mine but only for the bigger display.

  19. Having done a few trips to Morzine as well and to add what everyone else has already mentioned: Be prepared for wet weather - I don't know what the weather is like in BC at that time of the year but to stop a bit of rain spoiling your day: Take a spare set of shoes (while your other's are drying stuffed with newspaper!) If you got a backpack, make sure it has a waterproof cover Take waterproof pants that have a zip to allow removal with shoes on Take bibs...they will prevent mud flicking up your back and dribbling down into your rods and giving you the worst road rash you ever had! If you do end up taking your own bike, take spare brake pads Enjoy!
  20. OK you should be all good then...enjoy!
  21. Nope....one thing you need to also check is if Qatar is your final destination, you all good, but if you connecting with another airline, you need to check them as well. When you check in, they will ask if you have removed pedals and have no CO2 canisters inside...and will make you sign on the bag tag to indemnify them from damage. Then you'll have to lug it off to oversized desk/loading dock where they will X-ray the bag and give you a thumbs up if it all checks out.
  22. You need to check with your airline about costs...I have been flying Qatar Air for the last 15 years...never paid once for a bike bag as long as it fits inside their general luggage and sports bags limits stated on their site.
