    The Munga 2020

This is the inner drive Rohloff .This was a world traveller who stayed with me for a couple of days.He has been all over- Both Americas,Australia etc. He only uses this as all other set ups wear out.It broke in South America somewere and had to courier it to Germany for repairs.

i hope the wind is not to mal before Britstown. It can really howl from the front. We had to visit WINDPOMPS and Farms around there, because we ran out of water. If you can get to Britstown some time in the light then a quick nap and tackle the next section at night. Its really sucks when okes go off-course.All your months of training and all your bucks down the drain with one mistake.

it would be so cool if Alex put one or 2 okes out there with the riders doing daily blogs live. Just so everyone can see the real conditions out there.

    The Munga 2020

This must be the biggest field ever.Dot watching is going to be Epic. Hano Smit should also be in the top 10. Lots of ladies as well. FOMO---yes and no..But no won this round.Going to do the Sedgefield 500 in early January.
  8. Please modify your Event entry`s for sale. The site should automatically delete event entry`s for sale ----once the event date has passed. The old entry`s are just frustrating
  9. Yes they are buzy,,,at Zandflakte
  10. Doing the repeat. Come on west wind blow gale. Aiming for under 11 hours
  11. My 2cents. Having ridden this event for most years I must say that the event has progressed so well over the years. The Zuuberg mountains are rugged and the single track they cut by hand is world class.Day 1 and 3 really is a party with twists and turns on downhill single track . I do feel that some of the route is better suited to the slightly fitter rider but still manageable for the weekend warior. Having 2 camps does make it logistically hard to have 2 big chill zones and that is a minor issue. But staying in those lovely cottages in ADDO park is really nice. I have stayed at the hotel on the mountain and at the base camp ,the Hotel seems slightly better for the social side during the afternoons. But the evening events are all the same. if you enjoy real Mountainbiking you will love this event. The real bonus is no moving around with boxes and bags---and free wine and beer for the weekend.
  12. Mmmmm. thinking and thinking and thinking ,,,well what the hell
  13. Heads up guys, there was a lot of rain up there the last day has quite a bit of mud.

  15. Can't wait for the downhills,Spionkop drop is rad .I have done 2 B&B races.
  16. RIP to one tough racer.
  17. I sense that Mike sort of expected to be in the top 3 and that's the reasoning of his post. From my experience the podium contenders race unsupported and no-drafting at all after RV1. To enforce that will be hard ,if you take ironman they have many refs on motorcycles checking drafting. In the Munga that's not possible. I would say that the Comm can see on the tracker if some riders going for podium are close together and then get a offroad bike to follow them. What is not right is that riders are supported on route by family and friends. That should be disqualification. I would be pissed off on a hard leg to find some riders family standing on the road handing the rider fresh icy bottles and food. Then the mere mortals like ourselves that go and try to finish this beast without dying, yes we hook up with some riders and basically make up a small group. But its not like a Transbaviaans where speed and drafting is everything. Here we share a common goal --get to the line. We ride abreast for many kilos and chat ,its nice to have some company out there.
  18. I think this race is now at the stage where entries will start selling out. There is 150 slots so if you are thinking of riding best get your entries in. The internationals will also enter more and more, at the exchange rate they ride for next to nothing.
  19. Now we need a couple of race reports of the hubbers who finished. We are waiting.
  20. there are a lot of okes in Bloem tonight that won't sleep lekka. Go big or go home

  25. some good points there. When you are really tired you make silly mistakes.Remember to sign out guys, its something easy to forget. As everyone is getting going you walk past the sign out table. Be careful before Britstown and loxton and Ceres. The route takes you of the tar a few kilos before these towns ,when your brain is fried you can easily follow the road into town and its a serious time penalty. Its really a pain in the butt ----you can see the town right there but you turn off into the veld.
