  1. Que?
  2. Nice positive contribution to a positive thread about South African cyclists rising above some of the best cyclists in the world despite growing up far away from the centre of the cycling universe.
  3. Maple Street Timbers in Kempton Park Country Woods Wynberg
  4. On my list of "to do". Wood strip canoe. Redbird 17'6'' Got as far as buying the plans after owning the book for 20 years!! Needs a lot of space and long western red cedar boards, not that easy to locate in SA.
  5. I like this, rustic look and re purpose of wood most people burn to keep warm.
  6. Yeah looks like R/Teak. Not seen rose with pale sapwood pieces before. Nice wide boards. Are you sure they are 360 mm wide?
  7. Sounds high. What about a local alternative. African Teak, Rhodesian Teak? Ysterhout. What do you plan to make?
  8. I have a 25 year old Dremel, still works like a new one, pity as I would love to have a reason to buy a newer model. Fantastic tool if you have the need.
  9. My limited experience with water and damp is the only way to solve the problem is to keep the water away from the building. Damp will penetrate the walls and rot the wood battens. Is the water coming up from the foundations or through the wall?
  10. Yes shaving your spokes. Its a spokeshave. Used for shaping round lengths or tapered rods. Not easy to use as said.
  11. Greg Minnaar is a home grown legend and he is my daughter in laws cousin so I am almost related to a legend!!!
  12. Maple Street Timbers in Pomona Kempton Park can help. 011 979 4459
  13. You could make anything you wanted. R 26 000.00 a cube is about the going rate for 28 mm boards. Excellent wood to work with.
  14. That Pool table is magnificent!
  15. Built this TV cabinet. What I liked about these plans is that it has castors underneath and so moving the whole cabinet is simple. Multiplugs built into the unit so a single plug into the wall socket. European Beech. http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r156/war63423/Woodworking%20040_zps0oocvvg7.jpg
  16. This is the last of three tool boxes I am making, three sons, 3 boxes. Using birds eye and curly maple. Will post a pic when complete. http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r156/war63423/IMG_0580_zpsun4rmyfo.jpg
  17. Thanks. No I got the blade from a knife maker, polished it myself and had it re sharpened. I actually gave this one away as a gift to a mate.
  18. Kiaat tool box. Photo with internal trays. http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r156/war63423/Woodworking%20008_zpsug6eoxsj.jpg
  19. Red Ivory biltong slicer. http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r156/war63423/Red%20Ivory%20Biltong%20Slicer%20003_zps2z0un2oy.jpg
  20. Cut it up with a Triton circular saw. Hardest wood I have cut is Leadwood, no problems. Today's blades are tough. Takes two to carry it. Not that heavy.
  21. Might be able to get one for you to use, where do you live?
  22. No. I use a knife and a jig which I make up for each project. Or. The tenon I cut on a Triton table saw in cross cut set up and the mortise I cut out using a router.
  23. Sorry about that. I use a marking knife and make a jig for a specific project, you can also use a carpet knife/slanley knife. Alternatively clamp all the pieces together and use a square to mark with a knife. I made this garden bench for my wife from Rhodesian teak, not a screw or nail to be found in it. Mainly mortise and tenon. http://http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r156/war63423/Copy%202%20of%202008_1018Woodwork0005_zpsgmic3wzs.jpg
  24. http://http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r156/war63423/Woodworking%20003_zpshbl7nndr.jpg Dare I brag about joints?
  25. I have seen 2 broken frames, further up than this photo. Both frames broke because the tube wall was thinner on one side. That's a real problem because it means that there is an issue with the material supplier's quality IMHO. Not a stat you will get any bike manufacturer to reveal, but how many as a percentage of frames sold break like this across the range of manufacturers? Cracked frames on Giant Anthems pop up on this forum at regular intervals as well. Not great if you are looking to buy or sell 2nd hand.
