At Devonvale, or the Engen around the corner, Engen at Soneike or at Attitude Cycles, not sure if Haasendal still sell permits, possibly at Zevenwacht. I havent had to buy a day permit for a while. Safest bet would be Devonvale. When are you planning to ride here, I can find out from Mark at Attitude, I’ll be there tomorrow.

I smashed a cheese and bacon burger at Calabash on the way to Worcester. It was quite good, but dont bother ordering coffee. Rietdakkie was a quick refuel on the way back, i’ll stop there again for sure! They even contributed to our fundraising campaign, very friendly people indeed!

I was fighting the wind all the way to Worcester, with a slight reprieve on the way back until I got back on the Wellington side when it was nose down again. It has to be done Chris, can’t hide from the wind during the Munga.

Brackenfell to Worcester and back, 220km loop with a very lekker stop at Rietdakkie for a roosterbrood and koffie. Bainskloof looking goooood! #munga4mutts

Many years ago my good friend who pioneered the Amageza Rallye was facing the same problem: make the event difficult enough so guys will know what to expect in the Dakar, but risk lack of participation and end up not covering your overheads (recconnaisance, road books, food, petrol, medical backup, etc etc) OR make it too easy and okes pitch up at the Dakar start line thinking its going to be a piece of cake. Ultimately he decided that as long as the race sustains itself financially, he would keep pushing. Sadly, Amageza is no longer as Camelman had a fatal gyro-copter accident, but that's a whole other story.

I will report back on my experience of the Munga in December after I cross the finish line. This will be my first attempt and Im looking to complete it in 100 hours. Also using the opportunity to raise funds for the SPCA. The question of is it really worth almost 30k entry fee (I am paying my own way) is a question I will only be able to answer after the fact. Having done a couple of K2C’s the appeal of the Munga is the following: riding through the Karoo, alone at night, battling inner demons to keep on keeping on to finish within the cutoff time. Some say you rediscover yourself, well that is what is pulling me towards it. Silk Road is next level compared to Munga, in my humble uneducated opinion. I have started a thread on my campaign and we have uploaded some photos and a video, for everyone’s entertainment 😛

has anyone mentioned that the MoreCorp Lifestyle centre is opening soon in Parow/N1 City? this brings the Cyclelab and Proshop stores together in the greater CoCT metropole. they apparently bought the building where the church used to be.
