  1. I'm still annoyed at Club 100 riders who had issues with me sitting behind them after I got my one puncture fixed. Decided to let them be out of respect for Doney, Zippit and willpower in the bunch and rode with a social group, slow as they were
  2. Very very nice! Bought the same wheels recently, very happy with them!
  3. There, fixed it for you
  4. My biggest grype...gravel section outside Montague, puncture, pothole near Bonnievale, puncture, repaired wheel going down near last feed zone, puncture, change wheel, 5km to go, puncture...ride the fscking thing in FLAT!... Oh well...was fun training ride
  5. Cheap car, all bikes paid for in cash...my bond is my pain in the rear...I bought at the wrong time...lots of interest rate hikes so it increased by 1/3rd in the 2.5yrs I've owned the stupid house..
  6. rad006 I think Admin makes very little. Hosting and bandwidth costs are a bit expensive. I'm not sure where he hosts it, but I know the person who helps me host chainwheel pays about $600 a month for a virtual server in the states. I certainly don't think the man is loaded from TheHub
  7. Marius, you do realize there is something other than cycling out there in the world right? Commonly refered to as 'real-life' Maybe he is focusing on running the business better? Maybe he is just enjoying being young and having fun? Maybe he got a non-cyling girlie...who knows..
  8. Please keep on topic and stop the insulting and stirring (yes two complaints about this thread so far) Fatmod
  9. Well if you do decide to ride, you're welcome to use one of my bicycles. The Litespeed Ultimate I commute on has 10speed Campy Centaur and Campy Vento wheels. You just need to put normal 23c tyres on (I use 28c cyclocross types for commuting). The frame is a 59cm (and I'm 1.84m as a reference)..oh and I live in Parklands as well..
  10. Andre, you still doing the DC? What size frame do you ride?
  11. niterider, tried Produx? He does a lot of carbon work..
  12. Johan / dirt-rider: Anything extra I should think of doing for this little Namib desert trip? Or will the standard stuff be fine?
  13. I have a Corricraft, but no bikes allowed near it
  14. yeah, I'm not the shortest and smallest person out there
  15. Aaah yeah you can clearly see the more relaxed angle and 5" travel on the LT
  16. Yeah I've had the 5th Element serviced once, but at some stage I'm going to have to punish mr. Visa and get a RP3 for the rear. That said, I love this bike, and see no reason to upgrade (I mean, it's a Santacruz damnit!)
  17. No idea what it weighs now sorry (I'll have it weighed one day). It's the original 4" travel frame, before they started the LT and XC. Biggest problem with them was the rear stays...I can't run a 2.1 tyre at the back. Some 2.0's fit.. I'm happy with it though and certainly don't have another R15 000 around to upgrade to another frame.
  18. Stans conversion coming once I've decided on a front tyre to use at Dash (happy with the Larsen TT at the back), and also new pedals. Wallet needs to recover first
  19. Since everyone is posting their stuff, slowbee reminded me I should post the upgrades I did to my Blur for Desert Dash. In dire need of some love, especially with the flat tyre after the last ride. Thompson seatpost (thanks CWC), BBB carbon fibre handlebar, Ridley Pro stem (Crown Cycles didn't have a WCS handy) and a new cluster. Yes I am a fat bastard, so I can't ride the lightest stuff. All this should hold my fat ass without breaking DT Swiss 1800 wheels, new centrelock discs (thanks Fred from Gecko!), and SLR-XP saddle. Nicely washed after her the first test ride on the new additions in Magic Forest with niterider Oh and she's just a tad lighter now
  20. I run a mixture of SRAM (shifters and deraileurs) and XT (brakes, cranks etc) on my Blur. Only problem encountered with the Shimano XT cranks has been the retaining bolts coming loose and then sheering the plastic cup (sp?) off. Seen this happen to another XT crank at Karoo to Coast. XT hydraulic brakes are fantastic value though!
  21. Suddenly makes my 15 to 16hr weeks for Desert Dash seem reasonable Explains why I can't stay awake at work though
  22. I spent a bit of money at two shops this week, and both seemed to be doing ok, but they did ask if I could do internet transfer payments, so they don't have to pay the switching fees for the transactions via speedpoints etc. Obviously trying to save money where they can... I obliged and got a nice discount for it at the one shop..
  23. The song's proper name is Nine Inch Nails - Closer
