  1. Thanks MTB cleats?
  2. Just spoke to organisers (Ironman SA). Race is on 13 August in Bela Bela. Early Bird entry is R695 You'll be able to enter on 5150.co.za at the end of the month
  3. Anyone know what cleats the spin bikes at Virgin Active use? Looks like the Shimano MTB Cleats?
  4. Also just pulled them off my bike - roll really well but absolutely no grip!!!
  5. Hi recovery has been better than expected. I have full range of motion back but muscles in forearm are still really weak. I can cycle an# do most things ok. I Wld really recommend seeing a physio just to be sure

  7. Thanks guys for all the advice. I'll take them out and have a look.
  8. Can you feel or hear if they need to be replaced? Thanks for the patience and answers...
  9. Sorry, you'll have to back up a step.... Could you explain in roadie terms... Do I take the little pad thingy out and check????
  10. Maybe a dumb question but how do you know when you need to change your brake pads? Thanks for the help...
  11. Thanks, so very much a preference issue I see. Also looking at a general purpose tyre. I'm going to try the Crossmark in 2.25 and see from there. I've got an Ignitor 1.95 on the back. Guess it's a learning curve to see what works best... Thanks for all the advice.
  12. Hi guys, I need to get a new front tyre (UST). Looking at getting the Maxxis Crossmark but the question is 2.1 or 2.25? I'm going to be running a 1.95 at the back. Which do you recommend - 2.1 or 2.25 or does it actually make a difference? I'm doing more XC stuff - long rides (60km+) and have entered my first stage race in June Thanks for the advice.
  13. I have a 2008 Giant Anthem 1 and the clear coat on the frame near the top of the down tube is coming off. Not sure if it's relevant here but it's another Giant with paint problems.
  14. Thanks for the help guys!!! Always appreciated
  15. Its the rear wheel - mavic 317 disc rim. Thanks for the help
  16. I think it's still on the rim. How would I fix it if it's still there? Sorry not much of a bike mechanic - but willing to learn
  17. So I broke a spoke on my MTB last weekend (was riding the Red Route in Harkerville so was worth it). My question is, can I tape it to another spoke and carry on riding it for a while without damaging the rim (no hardcore trails just gentle riding)? The reason is, I've order new tyres and I don't want to go through the expense of getting the spoke fixed, resealing the tyres, etc and then having to take the bike back in when my new tyres arrive. Appreciate the input
  18. <hijack on> ... sorry I'm going on holiday down to Knysna in April with the family. How technical are the easier Harkerville trails? I've got 2 boys (7 & 10 years) - will these be too difficult for them? Any other suggestions in the area for young kids? Thanks <hijack off> ... sorry
  19. OK thanks - so basically not advisable Damn - thought I was onto something there...
  20. Thanks, it's an old cassette so not too worried about damaging it - will I damage the derailleur or chain as well?
  21. Hi Guys, I have an OLD rear wheel (MTB) that I want to use for the indoor trainer. The problem is, it has a 7sp cassette and my MTB is a 9sp. Will I damage the drivetrain by using it as is and only using the 7 gears? Alternatively, will a 9sp cassette fit on the freebody that currently has a 7sp cassette? Thanks for the help.
  22. THanks, so for general XC riding is a fatter better? Would I be correct in assuming that the narrower tyres (1.95") are more for racing?
  23. Sorry, but what is the difference between the various sizes/widths (1.95", 2.0", 2.25", etc)for MTB tyres and what difference does it make to your riding? Thanks
  24. Thanks man - had a look at the program. will use it as a guideline.
