  1. That's what I thought.... maybe there are some 'Scott' specific things I don't know about...
  2. HI guys, Hoping for some advice here. I'm looking at buying a 2012 Scott Spark 29 Team and upgrading the groupset. I've been advised/warned not to as it may result in some 'niggles' down the line. I'm assuming some parts not fitting with frame properly, etc. I'm looking at replacing groupset with a 2011 X9 one. Any advice? Thanks
  3. No, just the 26"
  4. Thanks, I also a little dubious about going from a medium to a large... I've checked the geomtery on the Anthem and the Scott and there's only a 15mm difference in the effective toptube measurement between the Medium Anthem and the Large Spark. I'm going to have to try and pop in at LBS to check the acutual difference.
  5. Yes that was my next step but had really dodgy advice from some LBS in the past so thought the Hubbers might be able to provide some unbiased opinions...
  6. Looking at another MTB and just had a quick size question. My previous MTB was a Medium Giant Anthem and it felt fine. I'm looking now at a Scott Spark but it's a Large. Looking at the Scott's geometry, I fall into the Large category and there's only about 30mm difference in top tube length. Can I get away with a Large? I'm 1.78m tall. Thanks for the help...
  7. I understand that but I think there needs to be some maturity and discernment as well so that it doesn't become a personal grudge match...
  8. Apologies if this is a duplicate topic... I was just wondering if there were some unspoken guidelines for leaving NEGATIVE trader feedback? Recently had a deal go South on me (no money was lost but I lost out on an awesome deal after being promised that everything was concluded) and was really upset. thought about leaving some negative trader feedback for the Hubber but then the anger subsided and thought best no too. I take my Trader Feedback very seriously as I'm always buying and selling on The Hub but it seems others just couldn't be bothered and do whatever they want! So, hence the question: are there any guidelines regarding leaving negative feedback? Should we just leave it for anything or is there some discernment involved? Love to know your thoughts....
  9. I've order twice from Evans (both times shoes and with free delivery). First time they delivered via FedEx and arrived in like 5 days. Second time they sent via Royal Mail and took 3 weeks... to their credit they refunded me the money and when the item did arrive, I notified them and they didn't charge me again. So seems like it's the luck of the draw...
  10. Hi, does anyone know how to promote their ad (bump or sticky ad) in the new classifieds section? It use to be under the 'My Classifieds' section but I can't seem to find it now? Thanks for the assistance...

  12. Glad to hear there's some hope.... Been going to a physio now for 4 weeks after severe back pain and whe thinks it's a problem with a disc in lower back. I was training for Half Ironman and have now had to withdraw and the full IM looks like it's also going to doubtful. It's good to hear that the core stuff is working and that there is some light at the end of my very dark tunnel
  13. Email and files sent. Thanks!
  14. Keen to see how this works. Will it work with a Garmin 310xt?
  15. I've been using Tapout for the last few months and I must say - never felt better. They have a drink (Electrokick) for on the bike (with protein in it) that tastes awesome and has worked like a bomb! After a heavy ride I take their Warrior Whey protein shake (chocolate flavour - tastes awesome!). I'm training for my second Ironman now and going from not using a recovery drink for my first IM to using Tapout now for my second, I cannot believe the difference. Legs feel fresher the next day after a heavy ride and I don't feel so sluggish during the day. Here's a link for the Warrior Whey: http://www.get-revd.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=132&Itemid=453 And the ElectroKick: http://www.get-revd.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=135&Itemid=454 Really reasonably priced and Troy is really helpful with advice, etc.
  16. Hi Klint, spoken to my mate who managers a bike shop down here and he's keen to stock your products. I've emailed you his details.
  17. Hi, do you have stockists in Port Elizabeth? RRP of your cleaner?
  18. Looking to buy a bike carrier - towbar mounted where the bike stand on the carrier (not hang). I'm looking at the Buzzrack Quattro (4-bike carrier). Does anyone have any reviews of this? Seems like pretty good value for money and from what I can see, well made. THanks
  19. I have a Thule 9104 for sale here: https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/15221-thule-9104-bike-rack-no-towbar-needed/ New they about R1700 - mine selling for R995... Let me know if anyone is interested. This is the one that clips onto the rear hatchback door.

Hi Guys, A couple of PE athletes have started a fund-raising initiative called 4-change. We're raising funds for Operation Smile Madiba Bay - a children's hospice (amongst other thiings) in Port Elizabeth through our racing (or finishing depending on the goals). We're hoping to raise R60 000 by the end of 2012, so the more athletes who sign-up the better... The concept is simple, sign-up by purchasing a Race Top, and get a membership card that will give you discounts on bike services, sports massage, nutrition, bike accessories, discounts on wetsuits, running shoes & accommodation (some only apply to PE). Then get your family, friends and colleagues to sponsor you on a per km basis and let their 'small change' make a big change in the lives of the kids at Operation Smile... There are a couple of guys doing the 70.3 so if you'd like to get involved, take a look at the website: www.4-change.co.za and Tri-4-change... Orders for the race kit are closing next week, so if you'd like to RACE FOR A REASON, then please sign-up. You can PM me for more info.
  21. Hi guys, Here's the sign-up form if anyone's interested. It has some background on 4-change as well as the kit design. sign-up-form.pdf
  22. Hi Hubbers, There are a goup of us in PE that have started '4-change'. 4-change is a sports-based fundraising initiative focused on transforming the lives of those less fortunate. The concept is simple, athletes sign-up and get their friends, family or colleagues to sponsor them in a 4-change event on a per kilometre basis and let their ‘small change’ make a big change in the lives of those that need it most. For example, a sponsorship of R1/km for a 100km cycle race = R100 sponsorship. 4-change has partnered with Operation Smile Madiba Bay in the hopes of raising R60 000 by the end of 2012. Operation Smile Madiba Bay provides invaluable support and assistance to the underprivileged of Port Elizabeth through a professional and interdisciplinary Pediatric Palliative Care programme for children suffering through any form of a life limiting or life threatening disease. A detailed profile of the vision and services of Operation Smile is available for download from the 4-change website (www.4-change.co.za). If you're in PE, you'll get a 4-change membership card that will give you exclusive, on-going discounts from our partners which include sports nutrition, cycling accessories, wetsuits, bike services, running shoes, sports massage and accommodation. It's open to any discipline: cycling (road & MTB), running, triathlon, etc. We even have some of the Chevrolet Warriors looking at joining and raising funds on a 'per run' basis. If you'd like to get involved, visit the website (still temporary at moment) for more info: www.4-change.co.za. Even if you don't want to raise sponsorship through your races, you can help by just purchasing a race top (a portion of the cost will go to Operation Smile). The cycling & tri-tops will be made by Anatomic using their top of the range fabric. C'mon, make all that training count for something!! I'll upload the pics of the kit tomorrow.
  23. I hear you! Can't wait for it again next year
  24. Also in - getting nervous all over again just reading this thread. Standing on the beach before the cannon went off was the best/worst time of my life

    ...

Really interested in this topic. About 8 years ago I started running and picked up bi-lateral plantar fascitis (injury in arch of foot). I spent the next 5 years (and about R40k) trying to sort the problem. It got so bad that I even landed up pn crutches for a while - I just coulnd'nt walk or even stand for longer then 5min. Was sent around from bio to physio to podiatrist to orthopeadic surgeon trying to sort the problem out. Even landed up at a Rhuematologist to check for Rhuematoid arthritist! Long story short, I ended up with orthotics in my shoes and cycling shoes (was only thing I could really do) which caused it's own injuries and problems. I landed up at a Bio in PE who told me to throw away the orthotics and walk around barefoot as much as possible. Never looked back since. Turns out that all the cushioning, orthotics and 'babying' my feet made the muscles/tendons/ligaments so weak that they couldn't support my own body weight. Strengthened my feet with some exercises and walking barefoot as much as I can and now I'm A-for-Away!! Managed to do Half & Full IM last year and doing it again next year. Working my way down to some barefoot running and minimalist shoes.
