  1. OK thanks - so basically not advisable Damn - thought I was onto something there...
  2. Thanks, it's an old cassette so not too worried about damaging it - will I damage the derailleur or chain as well?
  3. Hi Guys, I have an OLD rear wheel (MTB) that I want to use for the indoor trainer. The problem is, it has a 7sp cassette and my MTB is a 9sp. Will I damage the drivetrain by using it as is and only using the 7 gears? Alternatively, will a 9sp cassette fit on the freebody that currently has a 7sp cassette? Thanks for the help.
  4. THanks, so for general XC riding is a fatter better? Would I be correct in assuming that the narrower tyres (1.95") are more for racing?
  5. Sorry, but what is the difference between the various sizes/widths (1.95", 2.0", 2.25", etc)for MTB tyres and what difference does it make to your riding? Thanks
  6. Thanks man - had a look at the program. will use it as a guideline.
  7. @MM thanks - that's perfect. Just what i needed! How long did you train for prior to the race? Is it doable by the average weekend warrior?
  8. Why? It's just the thing to get rid of the pre-race nerves
  9. Thanks for the tips - any advice on a training programme or is just Long Steady Distance ok for the majority? Hills & intervals during the week and a long ride (3+ hours) on weekend?
  10. I work at Pine Lodge, and we have a range of accommodation available for the IM (from budget to luxury 4-star). We're ±5-6km from the start on the run and cycle route and have a load of on-site activites for the family/supporters (including a pub with magnificent sea views). Let me know the dates you're looking for and for how many people and I can give you a price (can sneek you a Hub discount as well) OR you can contact us directly on (041) 5834004 or enquiries@pinelodge.co.za or www.pinelodge.co.za.
  11. Thanks for the advice, just looking at finishing so no real time goal as yet. Is it necessary to do all the training on MTB or is a road bike OK?
  12. So I'm thinking about tackling the Trans-Baviaans for the first time. I could really use some training tips (and advice on a programme). I'm planning on doing Ironman next year so I need to incorporate some running (and maybe gym work) into the weekly plan. Any advice would be great! Thanks
  13. Option 1 or 4. Any idea on pricing and timing for these?
  14. What sort of treatment did you receive? Cast or sling and for how long? Thanks
  15. iRob, man that's terrible. Thankfully, dont think mines as bad. WVW, did you have the cast put on after the sling? If so, why?
  16. Thanks SC - glad to hear its not all doom and gloom.
  17. Thanks guys. Just went to my GP who is also a sports doc. Put me in a sling and told me not to move it for 2 weeks which I've done. Just waiting for him to call me to find out what the next step is.
  18. Its a real bugger. Its not so much the pain, just the inconvenience. Sitting here typing with 1 hand Hows the elbow now? U got your full range of motion back? Were you in a sling? For how long?
  19. So broke my elbow about 2 weeks ago after a fall and been in a sling for the past 2 weeks. Just wondering if any other hubbers suffered from from 1 and what their recovery time was like? Thanks PS - its a fractured radial head if that helps
  20. Thanks for all the well wishes guys. Just heard of another 2 people that have fallen badly on that same track in the past 2-3 weeks. Best we all watch out for it in future!
  21. Hey guys thanks for all the well wishes! Not the best start to the year;(
  22. Thanks for the concern guys. Just got back from the doc-broke a bone in my elbow so riding for at least 4 weeks. Haven't even had a chance to look at the bike. It was the railway line in kragga kamma going out to cows corner. Just couldn't believe that fellow cyclists didn't stop. Just shows u get all types in0any sport.
