  1. Going blind into this course, that going to be bad? If my home trails are trygerberg mtb trails.
  2. What does the pre-entries look like?
  3. So T minus 1 sleep. Excited and nervous at the same time. But thankfully i will be the oke bringing up the rear. Please just smile and wave if you pass me.
  4. I have entered. I have never ridden the course so will be a surprise on Saturday. Unless i can get my lazy ass out of bed early enough to do the practice from 06:30 to 07:30. But the appeal of the XCO was the time i started.
  5. Thanks The Captain. I need to enter still. I have never ridden the course and doubt i will be able to get out there anytime soon or even on the practice Friday. But i am on the back end of the subvets so shouldn't be an issue i hope.
  6. Well that is not encouraging as you came first at Bloemendal!!!
  7. Was at the first XCO (as my first XCO) and i am super excited for the second one. Just need to get to Rhebokskloof to test the track as i have never ridden there. See you there Milky (well, at least on the start line )
  8. So left home this morning at 05:40 and all was dry. Roads were slightly damp but nothing crazy. 3 km further and it starts to drizzle. No worries. Another 0.5km later and it starts to pour cats and dogs. 5km further I have to go through a river of water on the road edge and completely submerge my feet. Now i am annoyed to say the least but continue we do. I must have crossed another 5 rivers on my way to work. But getting wet beats sitting in the car and being pissed off. Safe commuting folks. Thankfully i looked like a christmas tree this morning with 3 rear lights. Safety first. Must admit, cars gave me space when there was a river approaching.
  9. Remember Eddy, commuting in summer is easy, winter is when it gets tough and for us in the Cape, cold and wet (hopefully).
  10. And that is precisely why i drive my vehicle on the Monday morning and then return on the Friday afternoon. If i need the vehicle it is at work. In between i commute on the bicycle. Best of both worlds.
  11. Yes it would count as a commute.
  12. Awesome. Thanks Bats. Every km counts.
  13. Quick question for the smart peeps: my commute yesterday afternoon and this morning has not been added to my total commute distance. I have classed the rides as transport so not sure what is the problem
  14. Yes you are as long as you cycled from work to home without getting a lift. Basically anything ride that would normally be undertaken by car is considered a commute. Bats? Hairy? Am i correct?
  15. My bottle of water for the ride home as been in the freezer at work all day already. and i suspect it will have melted before i get home this afternoon.
  16. Thansk Milky. Appreciate the feedback. And i totally agree with your sentiments, as long as the events keep happening, we attend and be grateful.
  17. Is there a reason the XCO race day is not on the sunday and practice on the Saturday? Just an honest question.
  18. Awesome. Thanks Milky. Will then just continue to practice Bloemendal as much as possible and then wait for the next venue.
  19. Thanks Jewbacca. Makes sense assuming the course track is decided upon already and made public. But the weekend before it will have to be.
  20. I have a question for the working folk. I could practice Bloemendal course as it is on my doorstep. But how do you practice the course if the course is in Stellenbosch or Paarl? I can't afford to take the Friday off. What do you guys do?
  21. I spoke to one of the organizers on Saturday. It seems that venue might not work out as there is apparently not enough dedicated single track and open space for the start. But we will need to wait and see.
