  1. So in my opinion, dont do anything extravagant to loose weight, just cut out the bad habits and you will loose weight. No eating after 8 No COKE No Coke Did i say no coke! Cuts out chocolates etc, once in a while is okay, moderate though Eat brown bread, no more than 4 slices a day in total. If u need energy, brown bread and peanut butter EAT FRUIT and drink lots of water wiegh urself after 2 weeks and then every week and u will see the improvements
  2. Interestingly I undertook to loose some kilos before the argus and see what affect it had on my climbing. Firstly lets start by saying i weighed approx 84 kg on Jan 15. I rode the 3 passes cycle race in group C and got dropped like a ton of bricks the moment the road tileted upwards (Smitz) I said to myself right then and there that I must loose weight cos i got the power and fitness but my weight just aint playing ball. So i started eating properly, cut out eating after 8 and no more sweets and COKE! And the wieght fell off me. I carried on training hard and eating right and then weighed myself on the saturday afternoon before the argus and i had dropped to approx 76kg. A massive weight loss indeed and what happened, i flew up the hills, My climbing was more rythmical than ever and i could sustain my hard work rates all the way over the climbs. smileys/smiley1.gif I made the split up chappies only to be dropped by a cramp in my left leg half way up suikerbossie. But i was on the front of my bunch the whole race long and felt like nothing could stop me. What a feeling!!!! I am using the same plan for all races that i wanna do good in from now on. My next target is Knysna

  4. Hey stringbean. I have never used the power tap system but i train at bikemax and the facility is World class smileys/smiley32.gif Since commencing training at BikeMax in March 2004 my cycling ability has improved in leaps and bounds. I am now a strong and confident rider because of Bikemax. I was seeded G at that time and in a matter of six months i made it to ELITE because of BikeMax. So i highly reccomend BikeMax as your training venue. Living and working in northern suburbs is a bit of a problem especially if you have to commute to claremont to train, i know i have to do that every evening i train at bike max. In fact i work in westlake (ou-kaapse weg) and have to commute home (Monte Vista) and then get in my moms car (i dont have my own) and drive to claremont all before my 18:30 session at bike max but i make it and it is worth all the effort! If you can i reccomend BikeMax as your first choice but if not I am sure Peter can advise you on the best alternative smileys/smiley1.gif

  10. i'll speak up campag is pure ART, nothing better but i must say that the new look shimano is really awesome. I dont think any one is better than the other. I do feel the after sales support for campag is sorely lacking though, unlike shimano which is very prevalant in our country. It seems that if you want campag you have to go thru Willie, directly or indirectly cos he has the agency for cmapag so he dictates the price and availability which i might add needs attention. I have ridden wiht both and have this to say, campag is very elegant and sleek, shimano not so, but shimano shifts like a baby's bottom, SMOOTH BABY SMOOTH I presently ride shimano but have never had a problem with campag (other than above) and love it to bits
