  1. When you get tired of trashing those Enve's, put them in a box & send them up-country.... Very cool bike.
  2. Not on wear and tear, like zips and canvas, which I suppose is fair. Bag is at least 5 years old, even though it hasn't seen heavy usage. Awaiting reply from Singer Photographic...

  4. I don't exactly wear it, but it ticks like a Swiss watch. Belonged to my Grandfather. Very cool gent. Wore it every day, without fail. Loved it. Said it was simple like him, and it told the time. Always remember as a lighty, he would look down at his wrist and tell me that the church bell would ring in 3 / 2 / 1... Happy days
  5. Thanks DJR. Thanks for the info. If Singer Photographic can't help, I'll contact a local upholsterer.
  6. Howzit Guys. My Lowepro Mini Trekker's zip has finally given up the ghost. Don't feel comfortable carrying it on my back, as the zip "tears" open, and I really don't want anything to fall out. Anybody aware of who could replace the zip for me, without botching it up? The other option is to replace it with a Lowepro Pro Tactic 450AW. Anybody using one? The various access points look interesting on paper, but may not be so great in practise... Tks
  7. Looks like a cool solution. No maintenance on the rear, yet compliant. Win win
  8. No Wayne. Now you have started something... I really didn't need to know about Top Watch...
  9. My all time favourite, work knife. H&K 14460. With open assist. (when you push on the thumb stud, it flicks open after the initial bit...) Its so good, I am going to get a twin, just in case...
  10. One of our pets. Kind soul. Kids love him to bits. Something about horses. Spend 5 minutes quietly with one of these guys, and it's like they take on your troubles. Amazing creatures, even though I have no interest in riding.
  11. 100% Monarch. It's just a nice to have. Worked flawlessly today for anybody looking at this type of device. Bike will always be a SS, just that now I can take it to longer events as well as multi day stuff. And it only takes 10 minutes to convert, so a great win-win.
  12. Cracking frame. Just put a sliding drop out with derailleur hanger, on my Simple; as I reckon the frame is top drawer. If the gizmo doesn't work, I can see a Solaris parked next to the Simple... If it does work, I will have a truly versatile bike. Look forward to the build. Enjoy
  13. Great Photo. Like the lightstream going up to the cableway, and the stars in the top right corner. Very cool. Sell It!
  14. Agreed. Just getting gears is complicated, never mind learning to use them....
  15. Does "yesterday" count? Northern Farm. Hadn't been there in a while, and was impressed with the river trail's state. Fast & flowing, which is what the doctor ordered on the SS.
  16. As anyone tried installing a Shimano Alfine hub to their SS? Been thinking of making my Cotic Simple my all rounder bike, and having the option of swopping out the rear wheel, for the Alfine, would make it my geared bike as well. I don't see any issues with this, but I have never seen it done... Any thoughts or suggestions?
  17. Last nights ride around Kyalami and surrounds
  18. To the guys riding a Cotic Single - is there a bolt thru option for the rear axle? I find that if I lock up the rear on hardpack, the wheel has a tendency to shift slightly. But its enough to get the wheel touching the frame on the non drive side. I have had the best results so far, with one of those chrome QR that normally come on cheap imports & indoor trainers. Suggestions?
  19. WoW! Guys seems happy all he had to do, was trade a pinkie for that ride... I would have gone as far as 2 digits, as long as it didn't impair my shifting capabilities. They make awesome bikes. One day....
