    JUMA 2016

Think the gent was someone I know. If he was riding a Dale, landed up getting his collarbone sorted today, and his wrist to follow shortly. The Juma strikes again! Enjoyed the ride, even though the change in direction seemed to dumb it down a bit... I was looking forward to the step downs in the water channel, as opposed to going up, but all in, an improvement over 2014 as they were no bottlenecks. Only issue I have is with the timekeepers. It seems outdated. Because it was an adventure, we decided to ride together as mates, but by falling back to a later batch, we got the batch start time... How do the guys at 94,7 not have this issue? Regardless of the 1 hour penalty on the time, it was epic riding with mates. Look forward to 2017
  2. Why wouldn't you be? You are riding a Cotic....
  3. Hi Cotic fans! Anybody running a 130mm RS Revelation on a Cotic Solaris/Simple? Can't find a 120mm and my 100mm is due an upgrade...
  4. Real interesting thread. Lots of talent out there. Quick question - I have this table, and the top appears to have "warped". It is reclaimed wood, New Zealand pine from my understanding. Is there a way to repair it, or thin the top down to an acceptable level of straight?. In the photo, you can see how the top left corner has kicked up. Or is firewood the next best thing?
  5. Thanks all. Believe the guys on Vitality have found the same thing with the iWatch promo.... Guys cant hit targets due to the low readings coming from the watch, hence no points being awarded.
  6. Hi Will the heart rate sync with other Garmin devices like the 810, when on the bike? Having lots of issues with the chest strap, so this would be a Win, if it does. TIA
  7. On one of our regular nightrides, we were going through a dip on a tar road, and I thought the cable thieves had left the cable housing lying in the road... about 2 meters before I got there, the housing moved. The guys behind me reckon I cleared it with a bunny hop, by 75cm. I believed them, as my front fork hit its full travel. A small piddle was evident in my lycra... One gent still thought it was cable housing, so we went back, and the housing had moved along... Not clued up on snakes at all, so avoid all of them. This oke was spotted 3 weeks back, off a trail we use, in my neck of the woods. Please identify.

    JUMA 2016

I suspect the noobs that were there on year 1, won't be coming back. At least that is the hope. Other than 1 or 2 bottlenecks in the beginning, I didn't have any problem with the issues most of the guys are complaining about. There were "technical" elements to the ride, like the hidden or dark obstacles, but I thought that added to the day. I seem to remember that there was way too much food & drink afterwards.... hic....
  9. Hi Gerald What mount is that, & were did you get it? TIA
  10. IMO - those Mount Grahams (never heard of them) are more than likely better than the continentals. Had X-Kings a few years back, and got really tired of finding myself sprawled on the trail, with no forewarning.... Reckon they hold up fine, but there is a point where they just let go... Now there is a set of tyres you should give away (to pay it forward).... I would go as far as including the postage....
  11. Have to agree Pyka. Used to be a fan of Schwalbe RR front and rear for an all round xc tyre, but their prices got ridiculous, and they wept all the sealant through the tread. Switched to FastTrack/Ground Control up front & Renegade on the rear, and only have good things to say. Considering you can get 2 G.Controls (in Control version) for the price of 1 RR (snakeskin)... No going back. Onza Canis looks interesting too.
  12. No worries, will take pics tonight & send it off to you.
  13. I have a rear American Classic wheel rim that is damaged, but the hub is perfect. About 12 months old now. Let me know if you are keen, can mail you pics. Will be well within your budget. Quick release, but can be converted with adaptors.
  14. Rode @ Van Gaalens on Sunday. Was blown away by the trail and the condition of the trails. Hadn't been there in over a year. Was a memorable day on the bike. We had to cut it short as one of the guys taco'd a wheel on one of the rocks on the Tant Miems section, about 10kms in, but we still did Dagga Pad and the river section. 35kms give or take, of flowing single track mostly. Highly recommended it to anybody in the area.
  15. This thread has derailed... Up in Gauteng-a-leng, we lost a lot of private property access, due to these pillocks. Be afraid.
  16. Lots of issues being addressed here.... Getting lost with all the angles. So he is a fully fledged paid up Club member, therefore has a right to be on the trails, so no trespassing can be enforced surely... He ignored a sign informing / requesting any club member to NOT RIDE that section; he chose to ignore it, therefore he is a tool & the club must handle it. I can't see the Legal angle, if he is paid up. Problem with this type of rider, is that he probably won't be too remorseful or willing to endure the sanction, as his conscience didn't bug him in the first place.
  17. And still not a single image of the damaged area....
  18. Sorry about the hijack / piggyback. I have a sidewall tear in a new tire (with a thin sidewall) as well... I used a Park Tools gator glued from the inside, but once inflated, the tear was clearly under strain. I managed 2 rides / 100km on the repair, and then as I got home, it blew! I have seen the gardeners & grooms in the area, stich their tires; but when asked what they use as thread, I don't get an answer... I hate thinking that a new tire is going to land up in a landfill.... and I am a cheapskate... Any ideas what could be used to stich the sidewall and gator together? TIA
  19. Signed & Shared. Let us know about the proposed cycle / protest, for the council's inaction. Well Done.
  20. My daughters always look at me funny, when I point out to them the twats on programs like Ridiculousness or Home Videos, that are attempting potentially life threatening shite, sans a helmet... 2 weeks back, my eldest wanted to go out for a pedal, and within a km, she hit a rut and ran out of talent real quick. OTB and lots of sliding on gravel. She landed on her head and then transferred the impact to her left shoulder. My first thought was collar bone gone! The S3 took it well, even though it was cracked through out the left hand side stays. She had no facial injuries, but wouldn't let me photograph the roasties on her hip and thigh. She did let me photo her shoulder. Please see attached. Last night they wanted to go swimming at the club house, & before I could say anything, those lids were on! Lesson learnt me thinks...
  21. No harm... Where were you riding? Doesn't look like Highveld scrub....
  22. Don't think you have lost R23000.00. We can go to Mars. Surely we can repair and repaint an aluminium frame?
