  1. My Suggestion to the OP: Put the fork in the downgraded box, and send it to Fox HQ, wherever that is. Attn the CEO, with a brief explanation, and a timeline. I have done this twice, after a much shorter run around than you have received, and got the desired, reasonable results I was expecting. Did it with a Metz Flashlight, that took 6 photos & died - shipped it to HQ Germany; as well as the first generation Epic from Specialized - where I was sold the wrong size frame, as that happened to be the only size the local agent had at the time, and foreseeable future... Send it back! NB - don't think you will get far re consumer protection. You paid for a fork, you got a fork. Hard to prove "what it should do for you" or "compared to ...., its K@k" will be difficult to prove.
  2. The chain line choice on post #98 is on the verge of criminal.... Nice bike though.
  3. I'll take the underpass every time, as opposed to crossing the road. I agree it could have been better implemented, but without diverting the water, it makes it very difficult to do it right the first time. Look forward to riding The Juma.
  4. Clearly not a black & white issue this....
  5. Look on the bright side OP. You have a new axle @ COST! That doesn't happen every day, so Carpe Diem & Pedal daai Ding!
  6. I agree 1000%, only problem is they (management) will probably remove the sign, as it will affect takings @ the gate. Reckon if you are on Twitter / FB / etc, reckon you owe it to your mates to make them aware of the risks & hopefully it spreads. We can always retract it, when they have taken our safety seriously. 2c.
  7. I retract my statement. The Stumpie can accomodate a full botlle & has that built in storage bin.
  8. Sounds like a Yeti sans vowels.... Definitely a Stumpie wannabe. Hope thet are using a different pricing model though....
  9. I'm not great with keeping track of dates, but reckon this Sector has been splashing around my drawer, for at least 2 decades. Other than the occasional battery, it hasn't missed a beat. Never took off locally, but it's a tough customer.
  10. I'm with you. Looks very nice, but will it improve my ride experience? For that kind of cash, you would hope to, but the cranks all go round, whether they are SS, 1x10 or 2x10. Would rather spend it on a tangible benefit, like wheels or suspension.
  11. I'll raise you another, from Basel World. Sadly, some of us earn good ol' SA Rands!
  12. Smaak That! Getting to like the nylon strap look. If nothing else, they make for a low profile, so comfortable whilst typing. Practical
  13. Hi all, I while back saw someone advertising a Praxis 10sp cassette. Any idea who distributes them in JHB? My 11-36 is tired... Thanks
  14. Looks like I need to get into the bike game.... I would think that the accounting bit would be the easiest part... Problem with bike shops in the main, is that they operate a simple point of sale system, ie: they don't gather client info, & in the process invoice all purchases through each clients account. (Sometimes I have to wonder why...) They also fail to get a database at the point of sale, so great opportunity lost for return business. I would open a client account for Skinnyone, with cell & email. Done. I would then credit Skinnyone's account with 1 x Spez 100mm stem ( slightly below my standard cost as I now am carrying unintended stock), and then Invoice Skinny for the full value of bike + ritchey 80mm stem (that cost me 1 phone call @ R1.25 to generate R1000.00 turnover in an up sale) & please a customer. The package works out the balance. Sounds too easy to me. I sometimes read articles about brick & mortar bike shops bitchin about the online guys, but here someone has opened the barn door real wide, and it gets kicked shut... Wow! Me thinks the days of making easy money are long behind us. Either differentiate or someone will. Rant over.
  15. Hi Ramrod You have probably just completed the hardest journey of your life. It ain't easy I am sure, but there is nothing left here for you... My Nephew left 35 days ago to study in Europe. I'll give you the advise I gave him - don't sit still. Join clubs & groups, with common interests. Or even something out of your circle. Just don't sit & over analyse everything you have vs what you had... New beginnings! Enjoy the adventure!
  16. Or someone stepped away.... I thought so, as all the small lettering & the chain is slightly out of focus, so def some movement. Would prefer the stick, to soft focus, but that's just me... I do like that frame. Is it locally designed & manufactured, or Taiwanese & locally designed?
  17. Amazing looking bike. Pity the Rand is in the neighbourhood that its in.... What concerns me isn't the width of the tires, its the fact that they are Renegades. I ride the 2.3 up in Gauteng, on our gravel highways, and although I really like them, grip isn't on of there top 5 attributes. Don't know how he does it, but he has been riding them, since the Burry days. Respect, to a great cycling ambassador.
  18. XT10.... Cyclist to the core i see... Yip, great little camera. Only thing i battled with was the manual focus, but by the 20th shot you start getting the hang of it.
  19. Incredibly sad story. Condolences to the family. Last night decided to go for a walk as sleep eluded me. Before I left my room, I contemplated leaving my wallet, watch, phone & everything else of value behind in the safe. I shrugged it off, and took all of the above, and my camera with, so i really looked like a tourist. Turns out I had a super 3 hours walking through remote parts of town, photographing cityscapes at will. Greeting & being greeted on a few occasions. No issue or insecure feelings. The catch is that this took place in Singapore. I have done the above in London, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Lisbon, Madrid, Ho Chi Minh, Thailand, Milan, amongst others. I don't know what it is, but something is fundamentally wrong in Africa & South America, where I wouldn't dream of doing it. Is it poverty? History? Education? Lack of self worth? Poor role models? Lack of proper authority? Maybe all of the above? I don't know. What i do know is that this young lady never got to experience many of life's small pleasures, thanks to these 3 killers. They have probably done the same or similar before, as they seem to know the best retirement spots. Our daughters deserve to know freedom. Real freedom. Not this shite we talk about in SA. RIP young lady. I sincerely hope that your family finds a way to move forward & to love each other more, through this difficult time.
  20. Went walkabout last night with the Fuji X10. Sadly no tripod, so had to work on any flat surface i could find, but always impressed with this tiny camera.
  21. Nuff said! I was going to report your statement for being 100% accurate, and to the point. Close the thread.
  22. Agree with V12man. Copperslip is the shizzzzz. And so is a torque wrench...
  23. Love that spot, as well as the pier further down. On my last trip, i packed all my photographic gear into the car, so as to capture something similar; only to find when I got to Umhlanga that my intrepid daughter thought a tripod wasn't as necessary as her boogie board.... That kid spent a lot of time on the boogie board, that's for sure... Next time.
  24. Hi Luke, Bought one new from Kameraz last year, for R3000.00, give or take. Think you will struggle to get one second hand, that hasn't been beat up; as the trade-in prices are so low, guys tend to hold onto them. Cracker lens by the way. Like the low weight, as well as the aperture. Its always attached to my D4, and is my go-to travel lens.
