  1. These event organisers get away with it every year . People do look for alternatives but there are just so many people wanting to enter these events that they get sold out . Take Om Die Dam as an example , last year they ran out of water plus traffic is always an issue but they have already sold more than half of the 4000 entries available for next years race. I for one didn't enter again as its R400 for an entry which doesn't even include a t-shirt.
  2. WOW , They did it .......01h59.40. Sub 2 hour marathon .
  3. I saw this for the first time. Future life in a pouch. One pouch with water in, the other with the powder. Squeeze and pop the seal allows the 2 too mix together.
  4. Yes please , I wouldn't mind dropping them off. Thank you.
  5. Speaking of medals......What do you guys and girls do with all the medals built up over the years ? I did a clean up the other day and just kept the ones with sentimental value but have a bag load of others. Heard something a while back about people donating them to a hospital.
  6. There's no way to hide how all the new nike shoes narrow to a point at the rear of the sole.
  7. Well done to all who took part in this years comrades. Just getting to the start line is an achievement in itself. This was my second comrades and my first up run, back to back medal was on offer. Last year I had set a goal of sub 11 and came up short with a 11h39, so was pretty disappointed. This year I decided I wasn't going to set to high a goal and just go out for a finish, I would see how I feel as they day went on and run accordingly. The most common peice of advice I got through out the year was to take the first half easy as it would be the toughest Marathon I've ever done, so I set out with that exact plan and managed to get to Drummond in 05h30 still feeling okay. In that time I still hadn't seen my wife and family on the route not once as they had been stuck in traffic. Had managed to borrow a phone from a club mate and spoke to her so I knew their situation. I didn't let it get to me and managed on the water, energade and bananas at the water tables. I knew there were still some nasty climbs coming so stuck to a strategy of running the downs, flats and shuffling walking up the hills. It worked as I got to the top of Pollys still feeling okay and saw that I had about 49min to do the last 7km to squeeze in a sub 11. Ran the whole way with no walking and came in with a 10h53. I couldn't believe it was possible to do a negative split in comrades, but I had done it. The up run definitely doesn't hurt as much as the down, wasn't nearly half as sore as I was last year the day after. Now I wait and see for next year.....
  8. From what I saw on the live opening ceremony it looks they have just swapped the colours around. White on the side and red in the middle.
  9. Have a look at Ericssons. https://www.ericssonsmattress.co.za/
  10. No idea , sorry. I usually just enter on the day
  11. It's a well organised run and the course is pretty flat with a few bumps here and there but nothing hectic. Not the prettiest of courses when it comes to scenery and such as you run through Isando, but other than that I would recommend it. Here is a strava link of the route. https://www.strava.com/activities/1874436601
  12. Thanks for the advice. I have noticed the soft caps on the packages and some offer a "No fair usage policy". How do you know if it is a google certified device ?
  13. I can get a package with uncapped data so that shouldn't be a problem. I don't have a smart tv so would need to get a streaming player or can I just connect a lap top to the tv and stream it through the lap top ?
  14. They recently installed fibre in our complex so am looking at cancelling dstv. What would be the simplest and easiest way to stream movies , series etc for someone like me that's not to clued up when it comes to this type of thing. Would a 20mb line be sufficient for this ?

Haha, I was shouting the same thing, but for a change he did well to finish it. At the post match interview with him, Ginny and VVD, he mentioned how it was his record 50th goal for Liverpool. Made me wonder if that didn't influence the way he's been playing and the pressure just to try get that one goal. Hopefully with that monkey off his back he can go back to the free scoring player we know.

Mo Salah [emoji445] Mo Salah [emoji445]. He eventually scores again. Not a huge fan of Henderson but he made a difference when he came on.
  17. For last years results it only shows a split time for 19.8km and the finish. I've heard from a few people that you could use your marathon time from Irene for a comrades qualifier , don't think its the case anymore.
  18. I will be running...................and walking
  19. Not sure how they will control that. Only way I can think of is by the results and times but that could become another disaster. I suppose Delloite didn't have a choice but to suggest a refund as it's there name associated with the race. I also think it's not just about the entry fee. One of our club members was using it as a qualifier for OMTOM and she couldn't carry on when the tables ran out of water. Throws a spanner in the works for her. Sent from my E5823 using Tapatalk
  20. Deloitte have requested that the organisers give a refund Sent from my E5823 using Tapatalk
  21. That's the only way to make the organisers sit up and actually do something about it but come next year it will still be sold out ....
  22. I stayed over in PTA the night before and left just before 04h00am (should have left earlier) . Managed to park around 05h30 . I took it nice and easy and ran with a club member who was just hoping for a finish around 6 hours. It was a long hot day out on a tough route and not having water at most of the tables from around the 24km mark just made it really tough. I find it unacceptable to run out of water especially as entries are capped and you know how many runners are going to be there. There wasn't even any water at the finish line . One of our club members did Delloites in Durban and pulled out at 26km as they also ran out of water.
  23. I think that's my problem , most of my training runs are on flat routes
  24. I did Deloitte Pretoria Marathon yesterday for the first time. The plan was just to use it a LSD run , take it easy and enjoy it. So glad I did that as that must have been the toughest marathon I have done in terms of hills and the heat , damn was it hot , especially that second lap. As tough as it was it must also be the best route I've done in terms of the view and scenery. The amount of people was also something else. The run through Klapperklop was tough but at the same time enjoyable as the view from the top was pretty impressive. At least I know now what to expect at the Sunrise Monster on Saturday for another LSD run
