    Did the Vaal yesterday for my first marathon with the goal of doing a sub 04h20 . Managed to get in with a 04h18 but those last 5km hurt a bit . That extra 500m at the end didn't help much either as well. I heard a lot about how flat Vaal is which makes you work the whole way, after yesterday i can fully agree with that. PS . Nice meeting Mr Winter and Andrew Steer out on the course.

    I have an easy weekend planned , 8km on Saturday and 12km on Sunday. Tapering for Vaal next weekend which will be my first marathon and hopefully my qualifier. Going for a sub 4h20 so I can get a F batch for comrades.

    Did the PnP Half yesterday and managed to get my first sub 2 for a half , got a 01h58 (mat to mat) . The start was crazy hectic as usual not to mention the traffic even though i got there just before 5. The weather conditions were perfect , cool and overcast but was starting to clear up as i finished . I'm sure a lot of those that did the marathon must have suffered on the second lap.

    I'm not familiar with all the different gps settings as the FR25 doesn't have any as far as I know. Does setting it on the lower options make it less accurate ? Does the suunto app also upload automatically to strava ?

    I might have a PnP Half Marathon entry for you. I'm in two minds as to which marathon I must do as my qualifier , either Sasol Secunda which is on the 10 Feb (day before PnP) or the Vaal. Will let you know closer to the time if you haven't managed to get one.

    I've got the garmin FR25 but am going to need something that will have enough battery life for comrades. Anyone know how the battery life on the Suunto Ambit3 Sport HR compared to the Suunto Spartan Trainer Wrist HR is ?

    I got this bench from a friend of mine . Any advice on how to bring it back to life ? Which sandpaper(grit) and do I varnish or stain ?

    If you can, get someone to train with you , like that it forces you to get up knowing you have somebody waiting for you. Just make sure they are more motivated than you are at the moment.

    Had a good first Tough One experience overall . Parking was a breeze ( Thanks Cobus for the tip about Nola Park) , didn't feel broken after and i didn't chaff The run went pretty good considering it was my first Tough One and the first time i ran more than 21km. Just tried to maintain the same effort throughout and wasn't to worried about maintaining the same pace. Legs are a bit sore today but pretty happy with a 03h36.

    Where exactly is Nola Park ? Can't find it on google maps. I can just imagine parking and traffic can be a nightmare in that area.

    Going to be my first Tough One and my longest run to date. Not going out to race it , just want to finish and not be broken at the end.

    My 2 year old still hasn't really figured out to use the brakes on his muna even though i've tried showing him. His hands also struggle to reach the brake lever so he just plants his feet down to stop.

It also says Comrades branded attire will be available at countrywide outlets throughout the year and not just at the expo and online. So does this mean anyone can now buy Comrades branded attire even though you haven't completed one ? Also don't know if it was freely available to anyone in past events.

    Go have a look at the Nike Factory Stores. Picked up some 33's a few weeks back for R770 after they had a 30% off sale .
