unless things have changed in the past few months then i think that you should take out a "cyclosport license" as you don't have to belong to a club to do this. u can download it from the CSA website. Things have changed - I downloaded the CSA posting/letter concerning licences and have condensed it into the following few paragraphs - (Bold, Italic and underline are all by me) "Events run under UCI regulation will, as usual, require an Elite Licence. For all other events (apart from minor "om-die-kerk" events) entrants (who do not have an Elite or Development Licence) will require to have either an existing Cyclo-Sport Licence or the new CSA Recreational Licence. Cyclo-Sport Licences will continue to be in the same form; a Licence card will be issued and licence holders will continue to be required to be a member of a club or a member of Pedal Power Association. The price for a Cyclo-Sport Licence with effect from 1 January 2008 is likely to be set at R100,00. The CSA Recreational Licence will be an alternative to the Cyclo-Sport Licence and, as its name implies, is intended for recreational cyclists who are not really interested in competition. It will be cheaper and no licence card will be issued initially but it will still be a requirement that the licence holder must be a member of a club or of Pedal Power Association. Cyclists who do not wish to join PPA or a club affiliated to a Province, may not take out an annual CSA Recreational Licence but will have to take out a single event CSA Recreational Licence commonly known as "a day licence Please note also that Provinces have the power, notwithstanding the new licence system, to regulate that any particular Event will not be open to a cyclist holding a CSA Recreational Licence and they may stipulate, for example, that a Cyclo-Sport Licence is a minimum requirement. This is a unique moment in the history of our sport in <?:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />South Africaon> and we look forward to the co-operation and assistance of all Provinces and Clubs as well as Events, both large and small, all of whom stand to benefit from the new licensing system, in the long term. In future, no Events will be placed on the CSA calendar unless the Event Organisers undertake to comply with the new licensing system." <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />I like how clubs, provinces and Events all stand to benefit but nothing for the cyclists. Now we know why you HAVE to be a club member.
