  1. Yeah, 2nd hand is definately the way to go... My dad had a youkon, strong bike, but very heavy! You will get plenty bike for 6k on the hub!
  2. Crossmax look way better!
  3. Maybe look at a SLX ctankset too, or evel LX, they go for R700 on CRC... Dispite whats been said, the shift quality of XT compared to Deore is way, way better. Well worth the 1k odd that you'll pay for it. Those brakes are great, don't bother spending the 2k+ to upgrade them.
  4. Its a good frame to start with... And the other components seem OK. Do the upgrade! Maybe not the front der. the difference isn't too big. Save that R300

    which bike

    Goose is awesome! fantastic geometry
  6. Yeah, looks wierd... Maybe a true soft tail? Or something to do with the carbon
  7. I had a Felt Q720 untill recently, and rode a friends gt avelanche... As far as frames go, the Felt is miles ahead on the trail, handles 10 times better. In my opinion, go for the felt, you can update the componentry as you feel you need to... Brilliant bikes though, hub the trail like nothing else.
  8. Great info Yoda, but my word, that is the longest post i've ever seen on the hub! respect
  9. Was a little longer, more like 2:46, I think

    alu vs. carbon

Thanks guys. Seems you have talked me out of changing frames. Probably for the better!!

    alu vs. carbon

OK how about this, I'm looking to swap a Mongoose Meteore Team alu frame with a Raliegh RM9 carbon frame..... with a pay in of course Is this a good idea???
  12. Where's Batman??? ha ha
  13. I ride a light alu MTB (mongoose meteore team) I'm toying with the idea of getting a caebon frame (rm9 or something) What is the usual weight loss with carbon? Are there any other advantages? How will these advantages improve the raceability of the bike?

    FELT MTB.

I've had a Q720 for the past year.. The '08 model. Its fantastic! No complaints. I tested the metore comp too. The brakes arent as good, and the geometry doesnt come close. The geometry on the felts is the best you will find in the class, about equal with the Meridas. The back wheel seems to be on a rail behind you, never slides out Tell him to get it!
  17. Exactly. Some rplica pro kit is subidised, so costs far less than it would plain. Its often great quality!
  18. And as far as mtb goes...? Does't happen! They all look so manly!
  19. No, Tora's are 'Solo Air' Thanks guys. I have seen the table, but just looking to play around a bit, get it suited to me right.
  20. We need one of these in the EC damnit, every rider moves to road because there is no support for MTB. i'm not the greatest rider ever, but won the Jr. section at my club... Why? there's noone els! There was the odd road rider that came along and did OK, then went back to the road. We need this sort of thing to give the guys support to get off the road and onto the trails!!!
  21. 11kg for My Mongoose Metoere Team '07 (alu frame)
  22. Ive got an '07 Reba race on a bike i bought off the hub. I'm new to the whole air fork thing. This is a very good fork from all i've heard?? How often does it need to be serviced? Is it OK to work out the right air preasrue to use? by that i mean can i lower and raise the preasure on a regular basis without cockin the fork up? Thaks

    Frame choice

The spark is advertised as the lightest full sus frame ever... And the 96 is awesome from all i've heard
  24. Yeah, too true. If you ever tell even upper class non cyclists what you are going to spend on your bike they look at you funny. They dont know the difference and would be just as happy with a Game special as with a 40k Dual-sus with all the extras. In fact, they'd probably prefer the Game bike... Less to go wrong! To the people who buy these bikes its just a bicycle, not a race machine.Scoe2008-12-18 13:19:14

    New mtb'er

Yeah, 2nd hand may be best. Also look at Silverback, they have some good bikes around the 3k mark.
