  1. Finally went with an HG95 Shimano chain that I got for a steal.....much better. Thanks for all the comments.
  2. Yip, new chain on old gear, ie same gears as before. My chainrings got some respite when I rode Q Rings for a bit and I've alternated between 2 cassettes
  3. About 3 years ago my Ultegra 10 speed needed a new chain after about 30,000km of use. I'm fastidious about riding with a clean and Squirt-lubed drivetrain. The LBS I used to frequent suggested a KMC Chain. From day 1 I wasn't thrilled, from a noise and shifting perspective. I told myself it would settle down but it never did. Yes I've ridden it for 3 years but I also ride my MTB which shares the nileage and I had a slow 18 months due to prostate cancer (which is hopefully in the rearview mirror) so I don't think I've done more than 3-5,000 easy km on it. I noticed that the chainguage says about ,25 and I could get a Shimano HG95 chain for a steal so I made the change. I'm very happy as it's a lot quieter - I could never ride the KMC completely crossed over (both big cogs) and I don't do that deliberately but I now can't tell I'm crossed over by ear. Much happier with the OEM chain. LBS tried to sell me a KMC 12sp chain for my Sram 1x12 a while ago which I declined in favour of an XX1 chain, saying KMC is made in the same factory as Sram.....remember, Citi Golfs used to be made in the same factory that makes VW's and Audi's 😬 PS I just changed my mtb XX1chain (12000km) and GX Cassette (14000KM) and I'll never stray from XX1 gold on my MTB.
  4. Wow. Couldn't put that read down! Gargantuan, more than epic! I can't wait for the next chapter. As an aside, I'd love to know how much training and time commitment it takes to prepare?
  5. Okayyyyyy.....think I'm going to try it.....
  6. Agree 11sp is I terchangeable but afaik 10 sp is the Achilles heel. I'm not sure I should shell out on a chain that's not going to work but I'll see what the consensus is ...
  7. It's a 10 sp chain on a 10 sp Drivetrain. Not 111 so. I doubt very much you can mix 10 and 11 sp
  8. Been told it's not advisable and that 10sp is the Achilles heel......
  9. Mine is 10 sp. You haven't had noise or issues?
  10. Ask per the above. Can I use an XT or XTR hollowpin chain on my Ultegra cassette and chainrings? Thanks
  11. Yeah, just heard. Sad. I think he's had some battles in his life. RIP
  12. But at least the stolen goods would be removed from the thief, I still see that as a win!

    The Munga

Can you not get the right length seatpost machined to fit the frame and seat etc?
  14. Could be but there were some that rode in the bike traffic and some that kept to the side. Where I stay in Fourways we don't get many cyclists passing by
  15. We saw literally dozens and dozens, if not hundreds riding without boards. Lots of ebikes doing that. Also the odd e-bike going all out and definitely fit enough to ride an Amish bike....
  16. Probably but there were some nice fast sections. I think this route is hard after Fourways?
  17. Cool. I've ridden most of that route but in the opposite direction 😄
  18. Ah ok. I only saw 2 DNF but I suppose No Time would indicate a DNF. I said after my last Argus about 5 years ago that I was done with road racing bit I might just do the 2025 one....had a really lekker day cheering the riders on in Fourways from my camp chair - I reckon we saw 90% of the field.
  19. There's no way so few non finishers. We saw at least 8 bikes on 2 broom wagons. Wonder if the timing mats still read or if the organisers don't want to scare newbies away? At the tail there were many nrwby-looking way under trained riders.
  20. Think we saw him seesawing if it was him....standing climb and both ends seesawing.
  21. 😭 Bummer.
  22. Awesome thanks Frosty. Only 2 DNF? I saw about 8 bikes on sweep vehicles and that was at the 60km mark before the climbs started and lots of tailenders started pushing. Even saw a guy (pushing) a full TT bike which I thought was a no no..... Wonder what the reasons for DQ were....😃
  23. Can you see totals for starters and finishers? (Starters will always be less than entries)
  24. Maybe I'm doing it wrong I can't see totals. Racetec was way friendlier....
