  1. At which point to name and shame? 5 pages ago..... As Darryl would say: "Don't be a ****", or something like that....
  2. Nope, that's the Insured Event definition. The claim that got warranteed was rejected by .....Santam....
  3. Lifted from my Cyclesure policy document..... "An unexpected and unforeseen event. It can be a single incident, or series of incidents related to the same cause, that results in loss of or damage to your cycling equipment."
  4. 5 years ago my frame cracked. Insurance and Ombud rejected claim on basis that it wasn't accident-induced but "wear and tear" Santam via a broker.... Frame replaced under warranty. My bikes are insured and specified ....
  5. He didn't do his homework before this year's Epic and got riders wrong -yeah it's not the end of the world but it's his job ..
  6. How does insurance cover a frame failure if it's not caused through an accident? Carbon Trek Top Fuels are known to fail in the same place. Happened to my brother and warrantees without quibble into a new Suoercaliber.
  7. Personally, I don't get the allure of Pyga, and I understand that supporting local is cool. For me it's carbon every day. If you're buying second hand the crux of the matter is the mileage on the components and the condition. Having to service the suspension and needing to replace some elements of the drivetrain or replace wheels can cost stupid money, more than offsetting a price benefit of one bike or another.
  8. Spare a thought for those of us without Wattbikes or trainers and on old fashioned Spinn bikes ....I have an old but very nice Le Mond spinn bike and I either watch YouTube of Kayleigh Cohen's spinn classes or the Epic on my tablet... PS: It really IS like waiting for paint to peel never mind dry!
  9. How does Garmin Connect and Strava handle a 2nd bike? For eg I have one road and one MTB and like to keep them seperate.....
  10. Hi there I'm looking at either a decent used Edge 530 or a brand new Wahoo Roam V1 (NOT V2), as they are both priced around 4k. Is it 50:50 or is there a clear winner?
  11. Isnt there a difference between failure and accident damage?
  12. A few years ago I got taken out by a bakkie coming out the driveway adjacent Kenjara Lodge. He didn't see me and I T boned his A pillar....broken ribs and bike. I ride the Cradle 3 days a week and haven't ever had taxi issues but now with the new church and being Easter it's probably an issue. My biggest fear is along Malibongwe from the sattelite dish and the cars parked at the river below Toadbury. Twice I've had those cars pull out on me when I'm doing 70kmhr in the dip. Someone needs to tell them that smell isn't Holy Water ...
  13. Can feel your pain(ic). I spent about 40 minutes in one with the tube maybe 2 cm from my face and squeezing my shoulders. I also closed my eyes.
  14. Bart plus at least one American, oh and of course Annika Langvad .....
  15. I don't remember his name. Might have been. It was a helluva party. Wouldn't dream of camping there 😁. Magalies used to be such a cool place, nice antiquey shops etc .... I'll have to find another place to caravan St seeing as Lovers Rock is probably no longer or is not too safe. Oh, Mount Grace was way cool...
  16. A more decent human being you will not find.
  17. By the time I'm fit enough to make it there and back the Wimpy will have been hit again. The missus and I got married at Wicker Country Lodge about 27 years ago....it used to be just outside the far side of Magalies on the RHS, I told her I'd take a tent and overnight on the ruins and ride back the next day - it was demolished, maybe due to the fact that we had a huge party....🤣
  18. Awesome. Managed 35km from Bidon before turning around....one bite at a time.
  19. šŸ‘šŸ‘ What route/direction do you take from Riverstone to reduce the tar? Sorry I'd have to copy and paste your file to open and am on my mobile.
  20. Hope to get strong enough to be able Todo the full distance in about 4 weeks....else I'll have to sleep in Magaliesburg! 😁
  21. I got more than I needed. So far there is some variation about 20km from Bidon where the route I'd ridden goes straight down some singletrack whereas the route from Pieterlab turns left and around some veg growing tunnels. It's really nice to see what rides we have out there and how many people ride them. šŸ˜Ž
  22. 🤣 I don't get a great deal to the valve at my local garage so I only get it to around 2.5 Bar. Once it's seated I fill sealant, get some air in and pump the rest at home.
  23. I reckon that should work. I've seen it done using 2 L Coke bottles as a reservoir. Maybe look at getting a higher diameter hose if it ships with that hard plastic rubbish as flow rate is more important than ultimate pressure. I always go to the local garage and compared to my first time when I pi$$ed sealant all over the forecourt I now don't spill a drop. There is something really satisfying about doing your own tubeless.
  24. I also used to dislike CL but have been shopping there more frequently as their pricing has become more believable. Their price match got me some great discounts and the prior mentioned vouchers got me stuff like Squirt for next to nothing I would suggest that when you shop you rather consider the used market. In my experience you can find good deals on the Hub But due to this being an enthusiasts portal, bikes are usually higher end and thus more expensive, and maybe seen hard service, BUT sellers with many good ratings will want to maintain that good rating. I've found good deals also on FB Marketplace and even Gumtree over the years but I've paid my school fees.... Try to stay away from places like CL used bikes and Bike Market as these bikes have been marked up and you're trying to save coin. You've started the learning process so keep that up and try to get someone with experience togowith if you view a used bike.
  25. We haven't ridden the Breedts climb in a while. We usually park at the wedding venue on the Hekpoort side (forgotten the nameā˜ŗļø)- what's the condition of the gravel road to, the climb up and the descent down the other side like?
