  1. Were UAE driving the pace to restrict attacks from the Pilchard and Remco or should they have forced the Pilchards team to do the work? I was favouring the latter but Tadej's faith in the team paid off. Hope he and his merry men have legs tomorrow.
  2. 👍 I have the luxury of a Wahoo Roam on my MTB. Way better for my purposes
  3. My Edge 530 did exactly what OP posted. I saw it first lose the HR sensor, then shut down and restarted. My ride was paused and still there to continue but it's a concern. Anyone heard of a solution? (And not buying something else....)
  4. I would stay far away from a sonic cleaner or any form of soaking for chains, unless you intend soaking it again in lube thereafter.
  5. Bruni very class act.
  6. Yip, probably right. My Urologist always asks if I feel I'm able to empty my bladder. I just want to be able to stop taking Uromax. My Urologist knows I've changed to taking it every second day.
  7. 👍 I'm trying to quit. Last one was Friday. Even if I don't make it permanently it's been longer than last time. But passing urine has slowed but can live with it
  8. That's what I thought but he posted on IG that he felt good at practice?
  9. I didn't see him in the finals last weekend - anyone know how he did? Backing him for a great season!
  10. I meant to ask - have you tried to wean off of or stop the Uromax at all? I had a torrid first12 months with my best times being in the bathroom - initially every hour day and night which isn't conducive to sleep. That was for about 5 months and things gradually started to improve. Now at night the best I can muster is 3 1/2 hours. On my first rides around the 29km Cradle, I had to stop twice in a lap but it's improved a lot. I tried to stop Uromax entirely just before my last Urologist visit about a month ago but after 3-4 days I got very uncomfortable. I'm trying again, last Uromax was Friday at17:00 so holding thumbs ...
  11. Interesting, thanks. My brother went through the same thing 5 years ago except for him the Brachy Was a non-event, much like the biopsy. He stopped taking Uromax after probably 3 months.....go figure ...
  12. I don't think it will help as not cycling made no difference. Preceding my diagnosis I would have generally always had to stand in a fire to put it out....😁
  13. Nope. I'm riding quite a flat saddle. I don't find any issues after a ride but it's something I'd look into but have to save my $ for day to day bike maintenance. I've always preferred a flat saddle and nothing soft. I try to make sure I'm sitting on my sit bones and saddles usually flat or verrrry slightly nose down. I don't think cycling has ever adversely affected my PSA as it's come down from around 6 to below 1. I'd need to check the actual numbers but beyond a 0,5% small bounce in the last year my PSA has come down and Urologist happy....
  14. All lekker. Sorry if I took offence. I wouldn't ask for medical advice, to the point I'm acquainted with a Specialist out where we ride but would never ask for free advice. Joburg sucks during winter. CTN wet winters are waaaay better. 👍
  15. Ummmm, you maybe missed the subtle pun ....he's looked up many tunnels, including both of mine.... That's me leaving through the door....
  16. Cool. Not wanting to pi$$ in anyone's boots. Medical advice is NOT what I was looking for and I don't think my post said that, if it alluded thus, I apologize, I was just asking about effects in general, not guidance as to taking meds or a treatment plan etc etc.
  17. Why don't you take your rant elsewhere....If you read the thread I did ask my Urologist who prescribed me, who is based at the Donny Gordon teaching facility and has lead my treatment, with an Oncologist and he said it shouldn't but was uncertain. In recognition that it's outside of his speciality I brought the query here in the belief that the Hub membership extends beyond yourself, and might actually include those with some knowledge, as has been the case. Rant over and hoping youv'e joined that lovely day....☺️
  18. Thanks. Looks like the cancer is in remission. PSA has been dropping nicely for a year with a recent "bounce" which can be expected. Next test in 5 months time will be more of a decider. I'm in agreement with what you say and in layman's terms was thinking that whatever causes the elevated heart rate might affect actual max HR and as it relates to perceived effort I have been keeping the efforts reasonable. Initially I was taking Uromax daily and for the last few months every second day, and Urologist happy with this. (Previously I tried stopping it but after a few days had to restart). I've tried stopping taking it and am on day 3 and will see what happens The risk stopping Uromax isn't high as if I feel like it's getting more uncomfortable passing urine I can start up again. I might go to taking every 3 days etc etc
  19. Thanks to Flowspeed (great pun by coincidence😁) and V18 above.
  20. I guess the question in simplistic terms is whether Alpha Blockers can affect max HR during exercise. The prostate cancer etc are merely shared for context.
  21. I asked my Urologist a few visits ago, broadly.....and he said it wouldn't affect heart rate but he's a bit tunnel-visioned iro the core issue at hand ...
  22. Hi Following my prostate cancer diagnosis in April 2023 and Brachytherapy treatment in May 2023 I've been taking Uromax (AI: Tamsulisin Hydrochloride) which is classed as an Alpha Blocker. For the first 10 months I took Uromax daily and now every second day. My question is whether this medication or class of drug affects heart rate during exercise as when I feel like I'm close to my HR Max, I'm actually 10-15 beats below and I can't seem to reach my max HR. It could be that I'm not quite as fit as before but that could even result in achieving max HR earlier. Thanks in advance.
  23. I'm not questioning the 7k cost but the words "Full Service" and the thought of giving a bike shop carte blanche to replace parts makes my skin crawl....I'm the guy who decides what and when but that's just me.
  24. How many km do you have to do in 3 years to justify changing all those drivetrain components? I have no idea what mileage my road bike has done but my MTB is on 13000km on the first GX cassette and 2nd chain now an XX1 I put on after 2000km.....road bike has Gade same cassette and chainrings for too long to remember. Put on a KMC chain 3 years ago. Keep it clean and lubed and it lasts. I do my own aircan and lowers services and the only other cost I use LBS for is wheel truing. Ok not 10 years but Im able to run both my bikes on a comparative shoestring.
