  1. Young Howard at today's post race interview looked like he'd gotten the fright of his life...maybe he saw some of his ancestors ...I don't think he's weak, I just think Matt is in the condition of his life.
  2. If you're referring to the more verbose of the 3 commentators I couldn't agree more. Just rehashes things with big words. I also wish Gerald wouldn't wax so lyrical but I guess that's his stock in trade ...
  3. Distill it down to individual components. A tyre for my MTB=R900. Tyre for my Golf=R1500. Compare the weight of the 2 and the car tyre weighs my lifetime useage of MTB tyres. You can't really argue economies of scale either. I'd hazard a guess Maxxis has one, maybe 2 MTB tyre factories whereas Goodyear/Pirelli etc will probably have a few factories. Factor in that a car tyre probably lasts me 2 or more years/50,000km whereas a bike tyre lasts halfa year and a 10th or 20th of the car. All that equals ripoff.
  4. Anyone have the full Fini story today? They were down 1 minute and then it all went sideways .. .
  5. I've finally worked it out....Finis bike mechanic is the guy who is responsible for the live streaming ...

  7. Breedts.....my not so favourite route. I'd hate to walk my bike over and I think you make perfect sense. We never prep to walk. A few months ago I blew out 2 tubes and a tyre in my roadbike in the Cradle. I walked 2km from Cradle Moon to Valverde in the grass at the roads edge to protect my shoes....my legs felt it for 2 days ...
  8. Cradle road loop is cool and Ido it twice a week but for MTB the ride from Bidon to Magaliesburg on dirt roads and the odd footpath is really nice. 93km odd if you do full there and back.
  9. Cradle MTB trail is fooked. No trail maintenance other than grass cutting by the current tenderpreneur....plus about 800m has been dug up to lay underground cable -thats probably the best 800m....
  10. I turned them off yesterday as I can't understand Spanish. Not happy?
  11. Hope they get it right. I've never been a fan of the commentary but the visual feed even from the finish has been bad. Like an earlier post said, it may be the undersea data cable break?
  12. I saw one of them riding big gears on a flat section yesterday ....sad to say their prologue and today's result says something is wrong. I'm a big fan of them and Matt Beers and Nino....I'm covering all my bases 😎 On the comnentary, Gerald says Speed Company off the front, meanwhile we could all see them unhitched on the climb. Yesterday Gerald couldn't name quite a few riders - he seemed under prepared. I prefer American commentaries, they're way more professional. My fav is still Bart ... Now to do some work!
  13. Waiting forever for the finish time gaps ..
  14. I know getting the signal out isn't easy but they've been doing it for just a few years....today was really bad?
  15. Grotts needed a bigger chainring yesterday - he was spinning out a bit.
  16. Awesome, thank you, yes we rode from Bidon, I just wanted to keep it simple. Much appreciated!
  17. Hi there Does anyone have the Garmin route file for the ride from the Cradle to Magaliesburg to send me? I have ridden it once but would prefer to follow a route just until I'm sure I'm not going to verdwaal forever in the mielie fields.... The route we took turns up, left at the T after the Caves and then right across an open field, along a tar road and right somewhere after the river.... With the state of disrepair on the Cradle singletrack the Magalies route is a way better MTB option. Hope someone can help? Cheers
  18. Thanks. I alsogot that after enquiring with the attorneys via email. These scumbags usually get away so I guess 5 years is way better than that. I wonder what happed with the drunk driver that killed a cyclist in Fourways (Uranium rd?) after mounting the pavement.
  19. Usually they prescribe hormones I think for an enlarged prostate. Uromax is to help you pee. I had a PSA of around 5 and my first Urologist put me on 3 consecutive courses of antibiotic for a supposed infection. I consulted a new Urologist at Donny Gordon and he, after another PSA test and the usual Urine tests scheduled a biopsy which tested cancer positive. Thereafter he scheduled an MRI to determine if it had spread, which thankfully it hadn't. It would have spread as the tumour is/was on the lymph system. I opted for Brachytherapy in May last year. My PSA continues to drop and is around under 2 and I go for 3 then 6 monthly PSA tests. Recovery is now much better but my reaction to the radioactive seeds was tough for the first 8 months. If Prostate cancer spreads it's usually to the bones or lungs so it's good to deal with it quickly. BUT, like my son says, "Prostate cancer is the Citi Golf of cancers". If you're going to get cancer, it's the better one to have. I'm happy to try and shed some light for anyone that needs and I'm relieved to be in remission. I had 3 DRE's and there was nothing detected and sonar didn't detect anything either. Biopsy is the best option for certainty
  20. Im exactly the same but use Squirt on both my bikes. Eagle GX cassette has done about 13000 km and after GX chain replaced at 2000km with XX1 which has done 11000 of those 13000. I am careful to clean but not overclean too often.
  21. We'll done!
  22. I felt for the cars queuing to get in, particularly those from the Northern side. It's stressful sitting in a queue watching the clock count down.... Some of the sections at Cradle Moon will get your attention, particularly if you ride from the dam walluptowards the North East, ie away from the hotel....that is a steep sob. We'll done to all that rode, it was a hot day!
  23. I second that re the VG trails. For the Cradle ones singletrack choices are really limited and I got the feeling that the venue was confirmed and made to fit in. I did the (Nissan sponsored) Cowsheds and Cullinan Trailseekers and they were both very nice.
