  1. I called OP to tell him where I'd seen it ...no update subsequent to that.....
  2. I saw a back wheel leaning against a road sign at Bidon. Give them an urgent call. If it's yours DM me and I'll send you Garth's number
  3. I was going to lie politely and say I'd love to try it but after trying caulimash infinitum years ago I just can't eat cauliflower 🙂 Thanks though. Maybe it'll help someone...
  4. Not just cycling ...rugby has had the same as have a few other sports.....
  5. I started my keto and IF journey on around 20Jan. In the 2nd week I eliminated carbs but for berries, salad and a tiny bit of veg. I've done about 6 or 7 low intensity rides on the road on my MTB. I'm 61 years old, my Max HR is 164 and I keep my HR around 110 on the flats and on the odd climb I might see 140 odd. In 2 1/2 weeks I have lost just over 6 kg and haven't felt this good in a long time. The weight loss is visible and clothes are looser. I am trying to make meals more interesting but my fall back is a cheesy omelette. I eat lunch at 12:00 and dinner at 18:00 and fast between. I'm getting by on less than 2000cal daily, partly due to boring food but also due to no carbs and don't struggle with hunger. I'm a foodie and previously lived to eat. My rides are fully fasted and salt water only. This may not suit all but I want to lose another 10-25 kg and prefer the cold turkey approach and am not prepared to go slowly does it. Like I said, each to his own.
  6. Hi Chris, I'm actually very happy with the results. The low intensity rides are to help burn fat rather than carbs, assisted by the low/almost no carb, highish fat and medium qty of protein. I'm feeling better than when I started and don't struggle during the fasting period. Lots of Keto recipes on YT and I've started experiment with them. The pizza (just an example) is fairly high in calories but virtually zero carbs.
  7. I've not felt much of the carb flu but flat during exercise, yes definitely. As per a previous post of mine, I have shelved trying to improve fitness and am starting with weight loss as my priority. I'm doing flattish, approx. 30-45km rides with some climbing on tar on my heavy dual suss MTB and keeping it low intensity as I'm 18:6 fasting and only eating at 12:00 and 18:00, thus riding fully fasted on water with some salt only. I ride this 4 times a week and after 2 and a bit weeks have lost just over 5kg, my allergies and asthma have improved and my rides are no longer feeling like I'm bonked. Provided I keep the intensity down. I have had to fig around for recipes as I soon got tired of omelettes and mince dishes.... Good luck. PS, here's the keto pizza I made....
  8. Pretty much the same recipe that the founder of Enduroseal put out on YT a long time ago....instead of cornmeal he used braai pap....😁
  9. Thanks. Have you costed out what a litre costs you to make?
  10. Watching this space.....I've been wanting to try homemade sealant for a long time but the price of food grade glycol is a bit stiff. Might just go with regular antifreeze....
  11. Yip. It'll just take a little more modification to fit the replacement Garmin dog ears onto the Bryton. I loved my Bryton 530 but the weak spot are the orange buttons, especially the power one. That one tearing rendered mine useless.
  12. Both my bikes are Matt Black. One is a Supersix without clear coat so it sticks like barnacles ...
  13. It's probably the highly toxic one....I just make sure no skin contact or inhalation....afaik it's not good for the liver
  14. Yip. I tried Isopropyl alcohol, thinners, meths etc but have found that for dried Enduroseal pretty much only Benzine works ...I did try a small underside spot first.
  15. Easy. Enduroseal. Done!
  16. Don't rule out pivots if you're standing....can be a million things. I've had a BB cream that only manifested at the dead spot transition and not while standing.....I've chased creaks all over both my bikes.
  17. How would OP patch the tyre? Do the patches go on the outside?
  18. I use benzine or thinners. If you use benzine wear gloves and a mask....not good for your liver apparently. As most sealants use latex in some shape or form you can try really hot water....
  19. I love it when I get lowballed...I'll pay you Rx......CASH.....like I was going to accept instalments, salt, goats cattle....FFS!
  20. Thanks. Yip, the plan is to lose and keep weight off via IF, eating less calories than I need, especially for the initial period, and becoming fat adapted and keeping up rides but doing shorter, lower intensity rides. I'm tracking food intake and logging ride calories burnt on the Fat Secret app which seems to suit my needs pretty well.
  21. Getting an organiser on board would be a big help in terms of sponsors, credibility, a verification that it's a valid idea, approvals and planning assistance etc ....but they might decide they don't need you, although a small part of something, is worth more than a big part of nothing.
  22. For urban areas for instance City of Joburg, and probably many others, there is an events act that governs any gathering above a certain number of people. Fire safety is one component of that. I've worked in the JOC of Walk the Talk and 947 Cyclechallenge and was exposed to this in fair detail. As was explained to me, when you're standing in front of a judge explaining deaths and injuries, you better have all your approvals ....
  23. Long endurance rides are my game, - once I'm lighter and fat adapted
  24. I didn't say no carbs..I said almost eliminating. To elaborate - from relying on a guestimate of probably 70-80% daily on carbs to around 20%.
