  1. Yip. Only started after new chain...
  2. That's what I thought but replaced chain and thats what its doing immediately. Doing it on both my cassettes, one well used and my newish spare. I'll try the replacement chain and will report back here. Shimano say they are different:
  3. Present chain is a brand new one. My issue is the suitability to road drivetrain.
  4. Hey Diesel, Chainrings are not the issue. Wish I hadn't binned the old Shimano chain but it was worn. Good advice! That KMC chain was noisy from day 1. Just a PS, I had Rotor Qrings on the bike for about 3 years meaning even less mileage on the chainrings, plus I rode MTB for a good portion plus I was staving off prostate cancer and didn't do much mileage for 2 years.....New chain from Rapide will HOPEFULLY make it by weekend or Monday/Tuesday so we will see....
  5. Chain getting caught up in cassette, has no bearing on chainring, which is fine. Verified by trying now removed chain and not having it on chainring, still catches. I'm going by the packaging having an MTB on it and should not have taken CL techies advice. Unfortunately it was one of three guys so its he said she said or I would have returned it cos that is *** advice.
  6. Replying to both the above,: Cassette isn't new but rides 99,% the same. Axle tight and no need to play with RD. Im going to get a chain from Rapide as per a previous post and will report back.
  7. As I said, spare cassette same issue. Current cassette high mileage but they last and last and I know my spare cassette is fine.
  8. Was working perfectly with my old KMC chain but it was past worn according to chain guage. Spare cassette same result. Blades all good.
  9. And.....I just wanted to thank you for highlighting the packaging as this is primarily what prompted the decision to not ride any further with it ..
  10. Thanks for that. I've always been a big fan of Rapide. I decided during a sleepless moment last night that I can't keep riding it if it's not the 100% right chain, I don't want to bigger the cassette.
  11. I just checked, they seem to be directional, I installed it writing outwards, right side up on top, afaik that's correct. I can't find any reasonably priced Shimano road chains other than KMC and I hated mine.....not sure how good the gold KMC chains are....
  12. Seems to happen on the few that I tested. No contact at all with FD. It tries to climb, derails a little and bunches up as it can't climb in reverse.....
  13. I'm not understanding that ,- Ultegra cassette has pickups but no pins......just like 7 seperate cogs and 3 linked....? I have as spare cassette that I can try. I haven't ridden my road bike much and only notice it since the new chain....
  14. I'll have a look at that. It wasn't on my radar as shifting up and down is fine but I'll give that a look tomorrow. Thanks
  15. Howdy - One for the drivetrain experts..... I replaced my road bike - Ultegra 10sp chain recently. I had a KMC chain (that I've never liked due to being noisier than the 105 OGchain which it replaced, and it didn't come close to lasting anywhere near as long as the predecessor) with Ultegra cassette and chainrings and replaced it with a 10sp HG CN95 Shimano chain. I've done about 200km since new and shifting and lack of noise is excellent. My question is, if I back pedal to lube the chain it wants to climb the cassette and shift and it obviously can't. My previous chains didn't seem to do this - is this due to Shift Ramp technology or something like that that Shimano introduced more recently....my wheel (Zipp 404 spins very freely). Cheers
  16. I can only comment on the GX cassette. I went through 2 GX Chains and 1 XX1 chain in about. 14000km. Then I had to replace the cassette and still have the chain as a reserve. My guess is the XX1 cassette might have similar longevity to the GX. I think the GX is riveted and XX1 machined out of a block which may be quieter and lighter? I'm sure there will be experts who can provide the answer.
  17. I got 2000 km on a GX chain and more than 12000 on a XX1 chain with the same cassette. Go with XX1 it's worth the extra money.
  18. I have an oldish Lemond spinn bike with a fixed wheel - I'd be interested to find out how to fit a freehub......

  20. It only took me 25 years....🤣
  21. Very informative thank you. 👍
  22. Do the carbs not affect fat adaptation? What carbs do you add and what is MCT powder - pardon my ignorance there I on the very odd occasion during Biogen electrolytes but cost and the caffeine are an issue as I'm prone to being a poor sleeper. I drink water with a pinch of salt on 99% of rides. I will say I am 1000% strict on my Keto diet and carb wise have some roast veg now and then and about 40g of Blueberries with yoghurt daily.
  23. Just a quick update. I've just passed minus 20kg and feeling very good. Still doing Keto, IF and zone 2 rides. I find I feel very good for the first 90 minutes of a ride and the last 30 are harder. I've already surpassed my goal weight and am heading for the next milestone. Initially I incorrectly thought I'd climb like a beast when I lost weight but I'm riding fasted AND under-caloried so just taking it easy.....have to get some new kit and clothes.....this is my best weight in 25+ years ......additionally we are actually saving a meaningful amount on food and have not consumed any cycling juice since end January ... 😊
  24. For my money Hennops are the best (and best maintained) outside of Cape Town. Northern Farms also not bad. The Cradle - cr@p, not maintained for the most part.
