  1. Yip. I shake my head at the fact that Shimano aren't serviceable.
  2. The only issue was the first time I "sucked" at the lever end, the caliper syringe followed but after that I had the help it a tiny bit. Same with fronts but result good.
  3. Maybe it would have been easier if the nipple from the Quaxar kit didn't leak at the lever side. I must ad that the DOT51. wasn't an issue. Found that cheap too.
  4. Just some feedback. And thanks Porqui for the suggestion. I found a OEM Sram Bleed Kit at a helluva good price. My last experience was Avid Elixir and the **** Quaxar bleed kit I had. After pi$$ing about 300ml of fluid on my patio I went to the LBS. This time, thanks to Beeding Edge and a decent kit it went much better. I think that to get the best result you have to use a bit of logic and also do the "wash the caliper" step and repeat everything many times - giving it the time and the attention it deserves. The front are as good as they came from Cspe Cycles and the rears better than 2 trips to the LBS. Seems the rear will never be quite the same bite point as the front, maybe due to being further - LBS once said the hose swells a but - dunno about that. Maybe there's some residual air bubbles in the caliper which will exit if I remove the caliper and place the bleeding edge port as the highest point. Thanks again Porqui ' you (at least suggested to the man he should learn to fish)!
  5. Just a Caveat...when you're in your Granny gear the chain is very "crossed over" and you're putting max wear on chainrings, cassette as well as chain. So din't be tempted to leave it a little while when you get to the hilly environment. As an aside, a very well known LBS in JHB Northern suburbs, catering to the quite-well-heeled fitted a 34 PLUS A NEW CHAIN (from 32) without checking length. Drivetrain made a noise when on 50T and couldn't fix with B Screw, only by adding 2 links. Admittedly bike may have been on the limit, who knows, but firstly they didn't check it correctly or take the bike for a test ride.....
  6. Damn! I missed out.
  7. If it comes with my dream bike under it we can do a deal! 😆 🤣
  8. 😀 no thanks. Its only a couple of months old and got it for pretty much nothing....I'll carry on with using HR as my main value and now and then see the others...
  9. The 7th larger is the issue. I just want 6 equal blocks like my Bryton....
  10. Don't need 5 rows. Just want 3 rows 2 columns and equally sized data fields....edge 530 can't do it.... 😀
  11. I got a mail back from the developer of one of the IQ apps/data fields... Seems you can configure what you like as long as its around 2 columns of 4 rows and not 2 columns of 3. So that doesn't help a soon to be 60 year old get all the fields bigger. He and I are both German so it's going to go nowhere and end badly... 😢 😃
  12. Ja doing that right now, didn't know I'd need a BSC and the ability to understand Swahili.....will try again tomorrow...
  13. Thanks I'll give that a try. Ummm no chance on a trade for my nearly new 530. Other than smallish display and indistinct buttons I'm happy... 😊
  14. Hi Droo. I'm happy with the data fields I'm measuring but would like the display to reflect 6 equally sized quadrants. Should I still look in the IQ store?
  15. Sorry Chris. It's a 530. Typo. Will edit to correct.
  16. Howdy I've recently migrated to a Garmin Edge 530 on my roadbike but still use my Bryton on my MTB. And I don't want to use one computer and toggle etc. For me one gps one bike works better. Question: On my Bryton if I measure 6 metrics they are neatly divided into 6 equal sized quadrants but on the Garmin the best I can get is one large metric and the rest are small - is there some way to divide the Garmin screen into 6 equal spaces?
  17. Agree 1000% with both these points.
  18. Agree 100%. I use a bit of sunlight liquid and water (very little). I mostly use petrol station air and get tyres to seal eezy peezy.
  19. Is it just me or is that bead seating very close to the edge of the tyre? I've done over 12000km in the last fee years with various Maxxis tyres and no problems at all. Have any of you guys (when struggling to get the last bit of tyre on) had to use tyre levers? As that can stretch the casing....
  20. Yip. I bought the XX1 bolt kit a few months ago but it's still in the cupboard 😀. My derailleur has had play since day one but it shifts just fine ...maybe one day I'll change it.
  21. 👍 I tried a few things this morning....If I simulate saddle too low and resultant "toes high" just before and during the power stroke, it puts pressure on the shin bone area as referred to by Buckstopper in an earlier post...this happens when the toes can't bend up any more and the pressure passeds into that area. Toes down and the pressures gone.
  22. Do you still have old saddle? Some bike shops ( Spez?) Have a device you sit on which measures your sit bones. Good luck. Hope you get it sorted.
  23. Saddle width the same? I've had pain towards outside of calf when I put too much weight on outside of foot where it contacts pedal. Remedied by riding with knees closer to top tube. I'll be surprised if pain above outside of ankle is saddle but I'll watch keenly....
  24. For that I'd check cleat position. I know its just a saddle but it might just be a use injury that would have occurred anyway, especially now that youre getting distance under your belt. Check cleat alignment particularly making sure feet parallel or my preference, slightly toes in but very slightly...
  25. I've been riding for 23 years and had a fit twice and hated them both, and rather went by instinct with some guidance as per what I suggested. If you're struggling with the bars to saddle either contact the bike fitter or try my method. If you've been riding for a while - what does it feel like? Try to analyze and compare. It can even happen that one rides for years on the wrong setting and get it "right" and your legs don't like the change. I have a simple rule - If my knee fronts get sore, too low, knee rears, saddle too low. I suspect if its feeling something like shin splints it may be fore and aft and your toe section of your foot is rotating a lot to compensate. There witll be good info forthcoming from those smarter than me.....Good luck
