  1. I have 25mm wide rims with modest 2.35 wide tyres. I weigh 105kg and can ride pressures as low as 1.1/1.6 without a care. Foamo? Never!
  2. RH The courier stuff up is your and yours alone. IMHO the buyer bought wheels which INCLUDES hubs. The hubs should match the general appearance of the hoops send your statement as to the condition doesn't only pertain to the hoops buy they buy as a whole. Hubs are an integral part. Do the right thing and charge it to "school fees".
  3. Ok, my bad. I used logic when I re-installed my OEM Shimano blades after taking off my Rotor ovals... Writing on outer one faces out and inner faces inner (I got the inner wrong and there is a slight offset). Think its sorted now. Lesson: Look at manual even for menial tasks....
  4. Edited to correct from KCNC to KMC....My Shimano 10 speed road chain was retired and I fitted a spare on ethat I had, being a KMC 10 speed chain (brand new). I'm getting an issue when I hit a climb and if I'm spinning my legs fast and drop from the outer to inner blade the chain slips for a few pedal revolutions. This morning it slipped when I took it out the car and I could;d see that the chain drops into the space between the 53 and the 39 and obviously slips. The blades are still ok and the 39 is very new. Could it be the chain is ***?
  5. I couldnt agree more. Keep your day job and do this as a hobby and additional money for ....the things that make you happy. In a word: Don't! The margins are tiny. Collecting and delivering costs more than petrol. It takes time, wear and tear, insurance etc...
  6. Whats the danger of a car pump? All I know is that it won't pump high enough? And their guages calibration is rubbish....
  7. There used to be a LBS at Van Gaalens....
  8. Take it to your LBS they will happily pump it free of charge. Addressing the elephant in the room....Hopefully the pressure will hold. Might be a good idea to ride the bike over a rough trail or stand it upside down for a few hours to circulate the aircan oil a bit to lube the seals. Also maybe BEFORE you pump it make sure the aircan is (hand) tight enough....
  9. I'm wondering the same thing. It would be really good to know Person A won Title B and was tested and is clean.....and to see who gets tested, when and where they place when they are tested clean and where they place when untested...
  10. Yes there is a list of the offenders but how about a list of all those who have been tested and the outcome? There are so many old "warhorses" being ex pros from years gone by involved in management at races and cycling events that after seeing what USPS orchestrated and how they used their influence, some skullduggery here in our back yard would not surprise me. Just like in F1 the FIA did not make public exactly WHAT Ferrari were doing? Why? To supposedly protect the sport.... I have NO sympathy for any doper, whether knowing, unknowing, willing or unwilling. From Owen Hannie to Lance Armstrong - I was a huge LA fan but after being duped I have nothing but contempt for them and consider doping a criminal act for which they should be charged and receive a record....but that's just me.
  11. In my opinion taking a masking agents very much speaks to the premeditated.....
  12. Earlier someone posted about rather identifying future dopers....I second that but I also believe if you are caught doping you're out for life. I'd like to see CSA/WADA (the SA version) publish a list, by sport and updated monthly of ALL athletes who have been tested and Pass/Fail. I'm curious how YdV got caught and seems to do so well without doping...now (I think she recently thrashed Yolanda Neff? here in SA) and in these "obscure" far-out-in-the-sticks races comes close to the men's top 10. If she's THAT good, why did she see the reason to dope?
  13. Yeah I'm extremely relieved nothing serious. I saw a prang at the Lions circle but that was rider stupidity - not even congested just not paying attention.... and marshals were a bit robotic (insisting I in my car should turn left with the cyclists after Valverde despite me wanting to proceed straight up Malibongwe to drive home).Well done. Saw quite a few gel wrappers up the Cradle Restaurant & venue climb after the tented church. Hope the organisers did a sweep?
  14. Thanks for all the contributions, very much appreciated.
  15. Something I forgot to mention is that the initial MAF training I read mentioned that we generally go to hard on the Easy days, and too easy on the Hard days - This was me mostly although no really easy days, just trying to grind all the time and not making any progress. Thus where I think I'm headed is to ride 80% of my distance/time at MAF and do around 20% at a higher intensity.
  16. I've worked in the JOC and on events with JMPD and their events mgr.....Doesn't fill me with confidence. SAPS? Are you kidding me? The best guys for the job are generally the ORRU (Off Road Rescue) guys and the Outsurance pointsmen.....but that is for full road closure. I fear that people are going to get hurt here....I sincerely hope I'm wrong!
  17. 👍 In time I'll add some HIT. Thinking of doing the odd MTB ride in the week to add HIT and longer slow, road on weekends.
  18. Thanks will read that thread. Reason for doing it is just to slim down and get into better fitness. Right now weight loss would provide my biggest gain. I'm probably at 60% of reasonable fitness but losing 15kg which I know isn't easy, would be a big +. I've lost around 19kg on and off over the last 3 years but want to get the process going again. I seldom do races anymore, but wouldn't mind doing the odd Nissan Trailseeker.
  19. I'm trying it as after 23 years of cycling I feel I'm marking time. I'm restricting calories to lose weight, albeit not to the point of too few calories. But enough to make HIT difficult. I like what I've read about MAF and it correlates with what I've read about Base training and it helping build small blood capillaries. I'm currently averaging about 22kmhr and as I said trying not to exceed 75% HR which is 180 - my age + 5 beats +- I have 2 questions: Does MAF work? Can I mix HIT now and then or is it MAF only?
  20. Has anybody or IS anybody successfully tried/trying the above method as prescribed by Dr? Phil Maffetone? I'm trying to get into it but its so hard to keep my HR below around 75% of my max where I mostly train in the Cradle. As I get to a climb my HR spikes and I really don't want to cruise up and down a flat all day.....
  21. I see on Facebook, the lawyers who are working on behalf of Andre and Je'an and their famalies have appealed to the person who took the car pic to come forward - Hope they come right.
  22. Thanks, I've decided to delete my earlier post as I've found who the agents are and will chat to them first, maybe they have a solution....
  23. Anyone know who the Wahoo agents are in SA?
  24. A few years ago they tried to run a Pro tour similar to the Rapport tour and it routed past Monte...I happened to be on site to witness the aggression from motorists as the rolling Road closure exited Monte onto William Nicol....be very sure you want to take the risk. A year or 2 ago another drunk motorist ploughed into, yes, you guessed it, a bunch of riders. If memory serves me correctly they were from The Bicycle Co in Centurion out for a club ride. A big bunch is no safer than z single rider.
