  1. What method are CL going to use? Walk over to the tyre aisle and pick a new tyre?
  2. For small cuts the sealant should be doing its job. If there are not dozens of cuts remove tyre and patch from the inside. No glue applied from the outside will stop air from leaking. Superglue generally works best on 2 flat-mating, non porous surfaces where air can be excluded. As an aside I've tried it to fix a small cut on my Gatorskin clincher to no avail. I'm guessing silicone is my next best bet?
  3. As to how often in my experience as soon as you get a delayed down shift its time. Can also be the cause of your problem. On some frames, like my Cannondale Supersix I get juice droplets finding their way under the BB into the cable routing guide. I clean that and very light grease maybe twice a year. If its a secondhand bike it's a good idea to replace shift cable and housing. Brake cable and housing lasts longer - gets less use.
  4. Yip. Nothing wrong with Spanjaards. For cleaning where bearings seat like BB 's and headsets, freehubs etc I get rubbing alcohol from the pharmacy. I guess brake cleaner works too.
  5. Brake cleaners are generally alcohol based andnot harsh at all. It's very similar to degreaser but doesnt leave a residue. It's perfect for this function.
  6. Before you get too technical chasing problems check the outer limit screw and cable tension. Try to **** it as normal - then put a finger under the cable to add tension near the derailleur - can it move more? If NO back the adjust screw out 1/4 to 1/2 a turn. If YES then give the cable a bit more tension. Try to avoid Q20 into your shifter as those type of sprays are often silicone based and silicone is a dust magnet. Rather spray out with brake cleaner with bike standing upright. Once dry lube with a bit of dry chain lube or a little wet chain lube or regular oil. Less is more. Funnily enough what seems to be the case for front derailleur cable tension - often instinct says you need more cable tension when you actually need less. For such a small component it can give you a lot of **** 😀. How old are your cables & housing?
  7. How often do B samples test negative? AFAIK it's virtually never?
  8. Usually the better-worded ads would say "Cable & remote excluded". I don't think any dishonesty intended so buyer & seller should meet halfway.
  9. Miss Phil and Paul's commentary....those were good days.
  10. I was LA's greatest fan (I have forgiven him now and never miss his Grand Tour podcasts on Wedu.) The above is merely to justify my cynicism as we have just come out of the fastest Tdf ever, which the commentators tried to justify with "tailwinds" in the 1st week and out and out racing. I really do suspect there is still some form of doping going on and from what I read it is based on micro dosing so it would be metabolised by morning.....what I read from around 2 years ago is that there are no dope tests at night - maybe someone can confirm that> I still watch the tour in the belief that any doping is on a smaller scale and most top echelon riders and teams are probably doing it....otherwise I would have nothing to watch! I like that LA reached out to Jan and he got back on his bike. I hated Jan back in the day being a LA fan but seeing what a nice guy he can be/is just shows how bad being judgemental can be...
  11. Ive "liked" their page on FB and see a lot of ads - I think they are but someone will know for sure. I think if they were not legit by now it would have come up....
  12. My 2 floor pumps vastly over read compared to my Topeak gauge. As long as you're getting consistency you can read with whatever you wish. I find things get slippery over 1.3 Bar on the front....plus my hands rattle less at 1 1.
  13. Howdy. As the header says, I'm looking for a good flowtrain in Joburg. The only ones I know are Delta Park which is a bit tight and not open enough for what I'd prefer in that the jumps and berm sections feel a bit close together. Jumps are also a bit steep too and kick the rear hard...I have heard Wolwespruit is good but was hoping for something closer. Thanks in advance.
  14. Couldn't agree more. 2 years ago I joined Vitality to spinn and swim at a Virgin Active. The pool was nice but the spinn bikes were stuffed as in BB's shot.
  15. Interesting, I've started to do the same thing.
  16. Same again..
  17. I was trying to search Delta Park and it hung. Same with a few other searches last week....
  18. Recently when I search the Hub forums NOTHING happens....I double checked my network speed and its 20mbps on WiFi. Tried mobile data - same thing.
  19. We drilled out the end caps/adapters. The Hub could already accept 15mm.
  20. I had a similar issue when going from 12mm to 15mm. Cape Cycles were waiting for stock so LBS very kindly drilled mine out to 15. Worked fine until I could buy a used hub. Chat to Loyd at Cape Cycles maybe they have.
  21. I've twice had items replaced under warranty by Camelbak without quibble and no pop.
  22. Hi My MTB seems to have a high stack height or just seems quite big. Yes it is a L but M is too small. I ride a 70mm stem which I've placed as low as possible on the steerer and I've flipped it to reverse the not-too-significant rise (can't see how many degrees it is) but I'd like to try a bit lower. Any suggestions on an inexpensive 70mm stem with a fair rise?
  23. Quite often there is no need to change RD cage. I run a 29/11 and when I fitted it we just tweaked the B screw to its maximum. 28/11 or as close as you can get should make a huge improvement. I think your front end is already what would be rated as " compact". Mine is 53/39. If you need any lower than that you're looking at an ebike 😀 Yriple conversion will cost too much and Shimano stock is very poor, and that's being kind, you'd have to hunt for used parts.
  24. Not sure I buy that. I always immediately switch brakes on a new bike to front on right hand side BUT only because that's the way motorcycles work and that's what I started with way back I'm 1977. When I hit brakes I apply both and then modulate front/rear as needed. If is it into a cnr (more rear etc). I have no ability with my left over my right other than quicker catch reflex. I always only use one finger per lever. As an aside, 2 years ago some twat put a temporary fence across the trail and I arrived at 27kmhr. Only saw it at 10 metres away...I locked up both wheels. Still went OTB.
  25. Couldn't agree more. Every time I've had to deal with Cape Cycles they've been very helpful.
