  1. As far as I know elevation is measured by changes in atmospheric air pressure. I know when I set up my Bryton I had to enter my elevation into user settings. We always find differences when comparing m climbed with that of organizers. Its not exact. We've found that a weather front during a stage can really mess with m climbed.
  2. The more I hear about Cool Heat and IRO my recent dealings with them and one of their agents the more I think it's time the winds of change blew into town. Yes it's difficult to get stock of some items at present due to the fallout from Covid, but to not give a hoot is optional....I've always had great service from Cape Cycles in stark contrast...
  3. I've had to do a caliper reset on brand new TL's. Rather than me type a long story it's on the Sram service manual. I've also had good results hanging bike from its front wheel (bike holder - I use washing line pole) with elastics holding REAR brake lever pulled position. Leave for couple of hours and it let's the fine air bubbles come upstream into the reservoir. Front sorts itself in normal use. Given the choice I would never spend my money or yours on buying Aram. I'd go Shimano...
  4. I've always bought them from Solomons ( Woodmead@) but of late been out of stock. Funnily enough Sportsmans Warehouse keep some of the range but apparently not the Sram Level TL I need although haven't checked in 2 months...
  5. IMO Baradine make awesome semi metallic pads for a great price.
  6. I weigh 103kg and work my brakes hard. I use non OEM metallic pads with mostly Sram/Avid rotors. I've never had an issue with the Sram rotors but haven't ridden Shimano. I currently ride both at 180mm. Up front I'm trying a Galfer but I far prefer the slotting on Avid....just my 50c
  7. I used to have that same bike. Trek 5500. Ultegra. Dura Ace was the 5900 . Hope it was insured.
  8. I found to my detriment when trying a gel saddle that soft and gel are very uncomfortable (that was on my roadbike). You get what you pay for and generally a R500 saddle ain't going to be great. For that price you might find a used one. Some shops will fit you and have ways of you trying it out.
  9. Have a look on YouTube and go the DIY route. Its waaaay more fun.You might have to buy a leather repair kit. My carbon road shoes cracked when I t-boned a car that came out of a side road without stopping and he parked across my toes.... Not perfect but I'm proud of my first bit of carbon work... Before/After pics attached.
  10. I had to replace Boas on a set of Bontrager MTB shoes. They really are the bees knees. I reckon Rolls Royce are the Boa's of car manufacturers!
  11. Been in Kromdraai mine. Interesting place.
  12. Or bottle neck maybe?
  13. For those that missed the Redacted post it was to the effect that land owners have discussed ways of controlling access to road cyclists...I'm perplexed...so that cat has left the bag.
  14. Oh boy.....must be the same guys that have stickered "Refuse to comply with wearing masks"?
  15. Interesting concept but I only experience a close shave with a vehicle/truck on the very rare occasion (ok I don't ride the suburbs - that's just asking for trouble) but take a drive around the Cradle and cyclists 3 and 4 abreast outside of the cycle lane and no regard to passing traffic will be far more than the "rare" occasion.
  16. Yip. That's where I'm at. I've always found upshifts pretty good and how to you can shift up the cassette even under load...but you need to be able to tweak on the fly ????...couldn't resist ..
  17. I'm sure my ex wife sends someone over at night to give my barrel adjuster 3/4 of a turn every now and then....
  18. Yeah but cyclists riding sensibly at any speed and you can overtake.. said car doing 25kmhr more difficult
  19. Not when there are cyclists 3 to 4 abreast oncoming or cars and trying to overtake a Range Rover
  20. Yes the lock pin is very handy. Sram likes to get fine tuned from time to time. My Shimano (roadbike admittedly) and Sram 9 x 3 on previous mtb bikes never skipped a beat.
  21. Yeah....I see of late the number of riders in the Cradle requiring a team car is on the up. ..the latest being 3 riders wearing Entsika kit needing a Range Rover team car...there are more but this one stands out every weekend. Cars doing 25kmhr are difficult to pass.
  22. I think I need to replace/upgrade the hanger bolt....last time I had it off the little wavy washer wax s bit toasted. I believe the XX1 bolt might fit better...
  23. Thanks Theo. If I go ahead I'll reach out...
  24. Yeah. The Sram is quite temperamental. Been finding my downshifts battling mid way down cassette. Thought it's time to replace but after playing with B screw it seems better - thats at home. Will try trail on Thursday. (Used Sram measuring tool but itd not exact. Also changed cable inner and housings)
