  1. I have the opposite problem. I have two pairs of Mission Workshop bibs where the outer is still perfect. They hardly look worn and are probably the toughest bibs I have ever owned. The chamois however, needs to be replaced and fixing them is likely worth it as they cost R5500 a pair. Anyone know where I can get a pair of ElasticInterface or similar chamois's from? I was looking at these: https://www.aerotechdesigns.com/victor-cycling-chamois-pad.html but I'd need someone to bring back them in their suitcase for me to save on the shipping and duties. Otherwise, I am not sure shipping and duties makes it worth it.
  2. To get there, it would depend where you are staying - since Ubers aren't always available everywhere. From Meerendal back to where you are, it would likely be a challenge since Meerendal is not near any busy traffic areas. Perhaps others have tried getting Ubers around there. The only other options would be to hire a driver for the day or hire a car.
  3. I would go Schwalbe Racing Ray / Racing Ralph in Superground as a combo. Maxxis Ikon / Rekon Race would also be a good one that I have ridden a lot in this region (Hermanus / Oak Valley etc). 2.35 / 2.4 width. I’d also put in a light noodle in the rear just for peace of mind something like the tubolights or Vittoria airliners. Specialized also make some durable, fast rolling tires too.
  4. Windy but good…
  5. Some good morning climbing
  6. It's a Hammerhead Karoo: https://www.hammerhead.io/ That's the view you get when you are on a Strava segment. The navigation on this thing is next level. It's just like using a phone.
  7. Good to be back on the bike
  8. Not to alarm you but don’t take your eyes off your bike for even a minute. Especially in Stellenbosch but anywhere really. I know others have mentioned it, but I thought it worth mentioning again. Otherwise, the routes along the Atlantic coast between camps bay and Simonstown are amazing. Cape Point reserve on a wind still day is magnificent too. Few cars and completely wild.
  9. Dramatic skies this morning
  10. What ballpark price does Triptych charge?
  11. We’ve been spoilt over the last decade or so with “free everything”. Companies need to make money to sustain these services and the current economic climate has made this pretty stark. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, I’d rather pay for the product than be the product.
  12. Nope. I send all my rides and runs there. I use a Hammerhead Karoo and an Apple Watch. I was surprised at how good it is.
  13. The Suunto app is free and has a pretty decent heatmap feature. You don’t need a Suunto device to use it either.
  14. Makes zero sense. Have heard the same thing from others. Sometimes you do get lucky and they let you through. Just put a kids bike in the boot and tell them you’re going riding. 😁😁
  15. We’re riding in Hermanus / Hemel-en-aarde this weekend and you’re welcome to join us if you want to come through this side. We leave from the Hemel-en-aarde village centre.
  16. Sun, sea and dirt…
  17. Really cool photo.
  18. Barring a proper bike fit, I would say a large is too big for you. Especially considering you are 5cm below Merida’s range for a large. If I were in your shoes I would exchange for a medium.
  19. Back up the valley
  20. I noticed these trails on Trailforks and was wondering if anyone here has ridden them recently and can give a little insight into their condition. https://www.beaumont.co.za/mtb-routes
  21. The thin dusty line
  22. I recognise the middle pic was lifted from bike24.com.
  23. If it’s in Indonesia steer clear. Those stores are almost always scams.
  24. Really beautiful Xmas day in the valley.
  25. Rest day but a pic from Tokai yesterday
