  1. LOL... my memory has never been something I brag about
  2. Make sure you finish early, the forecast on YR for Sat afternoon doesn't look very good at this stage
  3. As a touring bike, function wins over form but damn, that bike looks like my old dutch aunties shopping cruiser in that setup. But hey, it it works for you and you prefer it, then that's all that counts
  4. If 26er duals are still fetching around 6-7K then I'd guess a titanium hardtail around the 10K mark? Lovely bike, I never realized that Wheeler made a titanium frame. That's a nice collectible piece for someone into mtbs.
  5. That's an absolute beauty Morne Yep, you tend to hold a gear much longer on these old bikes as reaching down seems like too much effort
  6. Wow, just WOW !!!!
  7. Wow, that looks smashing Any particular reason you didn't go for a standard quill stem?
  8. Well done... I'm considering downgrading mine to the relay Got sick last weekend and have only been on the bike once in 10 days and still not feeling much better. It's going to be a long day
  9. Aha, you're a sharp one, well spotted... and thank you
  10. Thanks bud, appreciated and thanks for the support
  11. Semantics, in truth, one route is long and the other one is f&%*ing long
  12. I have indeed, Smoove has come on board as a product sponsor for my channel
  13. I see they're allowing gravel bikes on the longer route this year as well, that should be interesting.
  14. It's going to be my first crack at the solo half (180km's) and also probably the first time I've gone over 120km's since I rode the DC about 15 yrs ago I'm expecting a lot of pain and suffering but weirdly looking forward to a new challenge
  15. This is nothing new really. How many ambulances is enough? You can have 2 and there will be 3 crashes etc. I remember coming down hard in a PPA race years ago and breaking my collarbone. The ambulance was dealing with another crash so I had to walk to the Medi Clinic with my bike slung over my other shoulder and book myself in Fortunately we were racing through Stellenbosch at the time.
  16. No advice on the fork but I'd suggest a shorter stem if you're using drop bars as your reach is going to be stretched once you add brake levers.
  17. So much awesomeness, I just wish the Nova was on the Sunday so that we could do both rides over the weekend.
  18. Morning all, Just to wrap the finance portion of this thread up, here's the final amounts. Please let me know if you've donated and I've left you out. Total amount raised was R20 800 Of that amount, their existing debt to their landlord for the stolen bike was settled (R5500), their deposit on a new home was secured (R4500), bike parts & lights (on the way to them) were purchased (R1400), the Silverback was donated by Cyclelab (bloody Legends) and the balance of R9400 has just been paid to the Nyathi's as a cash blessing. How totally freaking amazing, my teeth are getting cold from smiling at this amazing gesture from all involved. 20. Queen just sent me this pic of Ricky getting back from his first ride on his new bike. She recons he's blown away with it Nice kit as well
  21. A few more pics that I received from Andrew of the bike handover
  22. What more can I say on this thread? I'm humbled and honored to have been part of this experience. Sometimes our small drop in the ocean goes unseen but together we can make ripples and ripples can become waves and waves bring about change. You as BikeHub members & contributors and the wonderful staff of CycleLab brought about change in this small family's life. A change so big that I don't think you will ever realize its consequence or impact. It came at a time when it was most dearly needed and don't for a minute think that was a coincident, there was a bigger hand involved here as well. It has opened their eyes (and ours) as to what can be achieved when we give time, effort, love & blessings to our fellow humans. I sincerely hope that each one of you get blessed in your own special way. To Andrew & Matt, a huge thanks from my side, you guys took a huge load off my hands and did so much to make this happen. I honestly cannot thank you enough. To CycleLab... Just WOW. You guys went way beyond what was ever expected and played such a huge role in this blessing. Your bike and parts donation has allowed us to bless the Nyathi's even further with the balance of the cash collected To Martin... thank you so much for your generosity of the Insurance donation, may it never be required but what a great help it is And to the rest of you BikeHubbers... Respect, you guys stepped up to the plate and delivered big time  To the Nyathi's... Ricky, Queen and RJ, be blessed guys and when life affords you the opportunity, play this good deed forward and be the change in someone else's life IMG_8292.MOV
  23. Yes indeed, both Matt & Andrew are on the case regarding the bike and CycleLab have come on board to assist They're currently just ironing out the deal but hopefully MrNyathi will be pedaling come the weekend. In the mean time, an amount of R4500 was paid over to the Nyathi's on Friday morning. This allowed them to find alternative accommodation as they were asked to vacate the cottage they were renting in a family's back garden after the owners got divorced and sold the house. The Nyathi's have been hit hard with a few very unexpected twists and turns lately and this fund raiser could literally not have come at any better time for the young family. Thank you once again for all your assistance and generosity
  24. How good is that Yorkshire documentary, just wow !!!
