  1. We have two Caddy's. A 1.6 commercial that's perfect for transporting 2 people and bikes, and a 7 seater 2.0 TDI short wheel base that's perfect for 3 people and bikes. I had looked for a Maxi at the time, but could not find one in good condition. We are only 3 so its configured with 3 seats 90% of the time, if you need to have more than 3 people with bikes, go for the Maxi, or tow bar and bike rack. Never had a singe issue with either, and the 1.6 has over 200 000Km. Consumption is similar but the TDI is a nicer drive.
  2. Road to no ware. Well Sutherland eventually.
  3. Front grip is no issue, Louis front wheel spends most of the time in the air
  4. Seems strange that its only the men that dope in SA, when last was a lady rider caught ?
  5. Let's see if he makes the start line ..
  6. 2015 SA Track Champs - Sprint, Keiren, 1500 and Points the two riders mentioned were: 2nd, 2nd, 2nd and DNF 4th , 8th, 8th, DNS Fire on the other hand for the same events was: 1st, 1st, 1st, 1st She also won other events that these riders did not contest. If this selection was based on an age limit, then there could be justification for Fires omission, and one of these riders is certainly the best rider after Fire, the other selection on the other hand ?
  7. I suspect mainly the riders who did not do TDF, Van Zyl Thompson Goss Farrar Ciolek Boss Venter Maybe give Meintjies another go if he is well rested ?
  8. While I agree with most of what is in the article above, its not the whole picture. Cycling Clubs have always been around, they never went any ware when Track Cycling declined from its peak in the 80's. There are may reasons for the decline of Track, and one of them is that road racing became more structured with Pro's and Teams. The Hero's that youngsters looked up to and wanted to emulate moved from the Willemse's and Engelbrecht's to the Hunters and the Augustein's. The fact that Hunter and most international road sprinters honed their speed on the track got lost in the mean time. Clubs can well increase the quantity of riders on the track, but clubs cant take the good riders to that next level, sending then to all the GP's, and exposing then to international racing. The only way to increase the quality of our track riders, and to get talented riders back to international level is with sponsors and sponsored teams.
  9. They need to operate within UCI rules. UCI feel that the 2 year suspension is the punishment.
  10. No they were not able to apply it retrospectively.
  11. A previously banned Elite (Clenbuterol & Testoserone) just completed the Epic after serving a 4 year ban (multiple substances)
  12. I don't think we get told of all the positive tests, I suspect deals are made where riders "retire" or take sabbaticals to spare embarrassment
  13. Its an expensive process to try fight a positive test, doing independent testing and getting expert witnesses, and as he is not a Pro who makes his living from this, take the ban and move on. But it makes me wonder just how many vets at the sharp end of the peloton are doping ?
