  1. http://www.procyclinglive.com/livestream/# link 4 is working for me
  2. I can appreciate that, I was under the impression that half an hour is too short to do any damage that cant be quickly reversed from a hydration perspective, and that it takes around 10 minutes for any water you drink to be absorbed, longer the second you add anything to it i.e. energy drink. Delta t between Orica and Omega was 0.75s, There were three bottles among the Omega riders and, and no bottles cages or bottles in Orica.
  3. Quick question about yesterdays team time trial: I noticed that some of the teams had bottles and bottle cages on their bikes, in some teams only a few members did, other teams none had any. Isn't 26min riding time short enough that they wouldn't need or benefit from having a bottle? Surely there is a aero profile cost of having the bottle, and even if the difference is marginal, i.e 3 seconds over 25km, then it still seems like a pretty crucial sacrifice to have made?
  4. Ryder Hesjedal (Garmin-Sharp)
  5. I get hypothermic so quickly that if the sun drops behind a cloud for a second my teeth start to chatter so animatedly that Intelligence agencies call their morse code translators; in winter running is about all I can manage without my core body temp dipping below 35°C
  6. Oh? I thought she batted for the other team, as she propositioned me too... but as I am not that way inclined I guess she is all yours...
  7. Thanks, but I like my explanation better
  8. I rate of the 13 over 100k respondants; 1 was being honest, 5 lied and 7 didn't see the "per month" at the end of the question. Stupidity always outnumbers evil.
  9. Bad at what they do if you ask me, transport engineers who are good at what they do actively identify high accident/dangerous intersections and sections of road and submit proposals to authorities for upgrades to mitigate or alleviate dangers. They identify these sections of road based on all incidents, that includes cyclists and pedestrians.
  10. Static/friction can cause interference with HRMs - cause fictitious spikes in HR, if the spikes are isolated and sudden, they neither build nor recover gradually you can fairly safely chalk it up to the HRM.
  11. What about cyclists who commute? They NEED to cycle during rush hour as that is what makes it a commute rather than a training ride... The issue at hand is motorist apathy, arrogance indifference, unawareness - removing cyclists from their paths is treating a symptom, not solving a cause.
  12. This morning, whilst out running with a friend, we saw a near incident between a pedestrian and a cyclist... she (a non cyclist) asked me why the woman would have started crossing the road even after she had seen the cyclist? I explained the deceptive nature of a cyclists actual versus perceived speed, and mentioned that it was the reason for so many cyclist/car accidents are caused by right turning cars, she then responded by questioning that if she was driving a car and wanted to turn right, and there were no other oncoming cars, doesn't the cyclist have to stop and wait for her? I launched headlong into a bicycle is a recognised road user, imagine its a car, and always ask yourself "if this really was a car, would I have right of way?" To which she replied "I had always assumed that cyclists were basically glorified pedestrians because they don't obey any of the other rules of the road, like stopping at intersections?" (interesting to note that she doesn't read the papers, or watch the news, and was completely oblivious to the recent attention the issue has been getting from politicians and media) I have never jumped a light, now I certainly never will... my friend may not be the brightest light on the tree, but by society's standards she is well above average... if she thought of cyclists as not being road users because they don't obey the rules of the road, it is not such a long shot for other drivers to arrive at the same conclusion.
  13. Granted, but I'm pretty sure FdT is aiming to capitalise on LeJeune's (the French variety) racing heritage... can't see it too clearly on the picture, but on the top tube, just behind the head tube, there is a decal of the French flag.
  14. No prob! Americanising an old French classic?!... wrong on so many levels. imho
  15. http://www.lejeune.co/
  16. ... and every weekend night, for the duration of sentence, they should be made to do 2 hour rides on a bicycle via routes notorious for drunk/negligent driving... worst offenders should be made to do so without a tail-light.
  17. Newbie riding an old Reynolds steel frame bike... what is the bare minimum that I have to do in Die Burger to get a seeding for Argus. Will just finishing within cut-off achieve that?
