  1. CAT1 is normally the elite or riders aged up to 29. CAT2 would be the sub vets 30 - 39 and a few of the aging vets not wanting to grow old gracefully, CAT3 would be your Vets 40 - 49 and the Masters 50 - 59 as well as the ladies, with CAT4 being for riders just getting into the racing not having been licenced before, and at the TT you refer to the 1st and 2nd placed CAT2 riders actually beat the CAT1 riders

  4. SAD, Spring league was great, longer distances, racing on a Saturday afternoon, format worked well, racing was hard and the standard was lifted, Now PPA gets involved and again its not a league, its basically a few funrides, some of them so badly planned as they happen on the weekend before and during SA CHAMPS, so again it looks like a PPA funride is more important than SA Champs, you wanna tell you kids one day you won a PPA funride or that you where SA Champ, personally the Lights by Linea League orginised without the sanction or involvement of PPA did more to raise the level of road racing and was harder and therefore of more value than this, We are again going backwards with this summer league, racing 80 - 110 km is a waist of time, no wonder the Gautengers smoke the Capies when they race them

  17. Yes, no collection will only be at Paarl Cycle Lab, there will though be collection on the morning of the race as well
  18. The event is for all, mere mortals and racing snakes, the 110km route is for the serious riders and forms part of the winter series, the 80 km is for the less serious, but still hard enough to be a challenge, the 80km will start at 09:30 with the 110 starting an hour later, the idea behind this is to give the less serious an opportunity to finish there race and to the be able to watch the more serious finish the race. The race will finish at the top at the Taal Monument, so there is a chance that it might for once not be a bunch sprint, there will unfortunately not be road closure but we do have sufficient marshals and the assistance of the traffic department
  19. Until we as cyclist commit to and then start changing our ways ourselves nothing much will change. As a cyclist I commit to the following 1. No more zap signs, cursing or shouting rudly at motorists when they cut me off or run me off the road, instead I will apologise and turn the other cheek, maybe this motorist will then act kinder to my fellow cyclist he meets down the road. 2. I will only ride single file where their is no shoulder, try my best to make room for other road users and only ride 2 abreast when the yellow line area is wide enough. 3. Obey the traffic rules like all other road users, STOP, at the robots and stop streets. 4. Always wear my helmet. 5. Be courteous and considerate towards other road users, remember we have to share the road with then just as much as they need to share it with me. Maybe IF WE AS CYCLIST CHANGE OTHERS WILL ALSO CHANGE, lets be courteous, frinedly and considerate and who knows, we might end up being treated the same way
  20. FRAME, the car chassis is more important than the engine and suspension, the same with the bike, the frame is where its at, determines, handeling, climbing ability amd overall comfort, its easier to upgrade the groupset, and other components as you go on.
