  2. Take everything off the rim, clean and fit the tyre with new sealant. You will however need a compressor to reseat, but any garage pump and adaptor should work. What tyres are you using? I have seen Vredenstein and Michelin pop of the rim - try Conti, Maxxis or Geax if it happens again.
  3. Silverback's shock and parts are better and not much difference in the hardtail frames, so my vote is Silverback.
  4. This is the best deal at the moment and they are awesome wheels http://www.buycycle.co.za/buyparts/wheelsets-road/mavic/mavic-cosmic-carbone-sl-wheelset-mavic.html
  5. What rubbish. Sad news!
  6. You are close, but I believe he is incentivised and gets more money if CSA makes more. That is why CSA is driving the commercial side so much and chasing sponsors, taking ownership of events, taxing riders on their prize money, increasing the levies and license fees, enforcing day licenses (absolutely no reason for this) and increasing event calendar fees. The problem is that Barry is so profit driven (so that he can earn more), that he forgets about the basics. I don't think he cares the least bit about the sport and is only in it for the money.
  7. Don't feel sorry for Barry Mocke! This is a joke. Barry gets allot of money to do a job, and should be dismissed if he is not up to the task. CSA got greedy and decided to take over ownership (it was previously outsourced) of the mayor cycling events in an effort to make more money through sponsorships, while they should have been focussing on the managing the basics in the sport (improve licensing / development / safer roads / communication to riders). I know that Barry stepped on many toes since he came into the sport and have already lost 3 law suits which costed CSA (the cycling community) millions! The provinces should get together and have a vote of no confidence in the current administration and vote in new members. I know many capable CSA members who will gladly step up into Barry's position.
  8. from the ding in the down tube it looks like a bent orbea
  9. Volcan XC Pro through buycycle.co.za. It ia a 1 kg frame for R8000 and they quoted me with X.9 build kit, Sid and American Classic wheels for R21 000. Super bike for the price!
  10. Did you see this? CRC is annoying the world and they are taking action. http://www.bike-eu.com/news/4747/spanish-dealers-take-stand-against-chainreactioncom.html?nb=bike&editie=01%20februari%202011&link=Spanish%20Dealers%20Take%20Stand%20against%20Chainreaction.com&WT.mc_id=mail_bike_01%20februari%202011 http://www.bicycleretailer.com/news/newsDetail/5060.html http://antichainreaction.com/ I personally prefer supporting local industry and not sending money to the UK, because I want backup and support and want the industry in SA to be healthy.
  11. The site is up and running again. I phoned them and it was down after a software upgrade had some complications and it took some time to rectify.
  12. Tattoo the stripes on your arm and don't worry about the CSA / UCI rules.
  13. Good tyres, wheels and suspension will make a bigger difference in performance than the 100grams you save on a carbon frame and will be more cost effective, so rather go for a higher spec Alu bike than a lower spec carbon bike.
  14. You've got it spot on! The conti's are great and well priced. The Schwalbe's are also awesome if you have deep pockets. Maxxis is well priced and last well, but they don't grip as well as the tyres mentioned above. Kenda tyres are similar to the Maxxis in performance but don't last as long and are not as puncture resistant. Geax is somewhere in between, but they tend to be to heavy on UST and puncture too easy if they are non UST. Yes - I've used all of them.
  15. They are available on BuyCycle - http://www.buycycle.co.za/buyparts/saddles/selle-san-marco/selle-san-marco-saddle-zoncolan-arrowhead-black-selle-san-marco.html
  16. I still think that Carla should ban him from all SAS / SS timed events and report him to CSA or his provincial cycling body. We don't need the filth in the sport. Maybe chuck's behavior will change when he is not allowed to participate in most local races.
  17. The only thing that I hate about this forum is that anything goes. I am convinced that TheHubSA will be much more efficient and have more users if guys like Chuck are banned! All really good (big) forums have basic rules. Stick to relevant topics, ban personal attacks, don't allow blatant personal marketing and don't allow swearing or pornography! Chuck, your comments are disgusting! Carla, well done with your reply and for not lowering yourself to his level. Someone please start moderating this forum!!!
  18. I think buycycle is pretty close or even better than most of the grey import prices from CRC and CWC and they offer a bigger range through local supplier backing (look at shoe sizes for instance). I also like supporting someone who offers warranty backing through the local importers rather than through some international supplier, because I don't want to wait for 4 weeks if my product is faulty. I made a small price comparison between CWC and buycycle by taking all the products on their respective home pages and comparing the prices including the shipping cost. I realized that there wasn't a lot of overlap, because only a handful of products was available on both sites. I also noted that the shipping on CWC was more expensive and most products ended up more expensive from CWC(even if they looked cheaper before shipping) after I calculated and added the shipping costs. See attachment. online price comparison.pdf
  19. I know Owen agree that he is a super guy! Don't start another discussion with nothing good to say.
  20. Look at the Atera bike racks. Better quality and value than Thule I think.
  21. I don't like these at all! Just too heavy and don't have the performance or puncture protection to warrant the weight.
  22. Vuilgoed - did you unsubscribe? I really can't believe that guys would keep whining when there is a unsubscribe option, sulke vuilgoed! I like receiving the emails and don't consider it to be spam, and think that there are many guys who would agree? They should keep sending me the newsletter!
  23. Not true! Contador was dropped on the cobbles and lost time. Lance had a flat and lost time in the end, but he was a minute ahead of Contador at the time. Contador was wrong to attack and should have waited. I hope Andy makes up the time tomorrow.
  24. My new shop of choice They need to get some more bikes though!
  25. Races are becoming more expensive but I think many of them are also getting better and I am happy to pay for better races. I am looking for great singletrack and effort with the route, a seeding system (batch starts) so that I don't experience congestion etc Race organisers pay huge amounts of money to CSA for riders levies, day licenses, calendar fees etc, so we are funding the sport's administration. They also need to pay land owners etc, so I think it the R150 - R200 for a MTB event is justified. If you compare it to a round of golf it is actually cheap.
