  1. I believe that a different rear tyre makes a world of difference to the rolling resistance (Hans Dampf is like an MX tyre). I guess I'll try once I wear mine out.
  2. Patches, That is looking Sweet! (Sukuma and the sexually frustrated one)
  3. I so badly want one of these... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KP4VYG2h_4
  4. There is something tricky on this setup that I don't get. Is the Main Pivot fixed or floating like the Yeti? If its fixed, the pivot onto the shock link must be a floating one, otherwise its not going to work.
  5. Where's this from? Looks like a home build (not judging - I think its sweet)
  6. The last trail bike I owned was a WR200 from the mid 90's. It was much more tractable than the 1990 YZ250 I had before it, and would still make a great do-it-all bike. My DT125 sadly couldn't cope with the kind of riding that I was doing at the time, as the suspension was just not robust enough. My bro had a mid 80's IT250 which was a dog next to the WR200. There is definitely a point at which you want to have some of the newer tech
  7. I seem to have a habit of not buying amazing bikes. I was offered a 1985 RZ500 fully restored for R25K some years back and I didn't take it either. I am not sure what made it different from the RD500. Anyone? .
  8. No you've made me all sad about the 1935 Triumph that my wife talked me out of buying... not actual bike
  9. Aaah, I see. (I am not sure I would call it a sport either - except that there is no other way to describe it, especially in reference to the competition aspect)
  10. Why not try a few classes so you understand better. It's a training method that builds strength, co-ordination, speed and fitness in a social competitive environment. I've done a couple of half ironman races along with all the training - triathlon must be the loneliest sporting discipline I've ever done - great if you have asberger's, not so much if you are wanting to have fun.
  11. You at CFSlam, Terence? Is Geraldine kicking ass there? I was at 360Vida next door to Cedar Square until recently - good box, but that Fourways traffic is too much for me.
  12. I am now running two tokens in my Pike. I compared my bike before the change with a mate on an identical Reign with the Tokens - he was plusher without bottoming out. Much better!
  13. My P-AM2 rims did not fair too well at Mankele Avalanche this year. The back wheel looks a bit like a Pringle chip right now. It only just clears the seat stay at its worst. Hopefully, it will true up okay...
  14. Similar era hey? Those were the ones with the Pull-shock behind the seat post, weren't they? My wife had a Reflex like that.
  15. People are quick to forget just how good the original Reign was. It was arguably the first long travel bike (150mm) that could actually pedal. Anything else by anybody else was just trying to catch up.
  16. ...or is now overdue for some improvements.
  17. Boet, haven't you seen the crazy Enduro course that is the Spruit?
  18. Okay I guess the Stumpy climbs slightly better than "Okay". And it does descend very well for a trail bike, but nowhere close to a DH bike. Funny thing is that my old man has one and I have never been able to get comfortable on it. I wanted to like it. I really did.
  19. V10 anyone?http://brimages.bikeboardmedia.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/V10-feature-complete.jpg
  20. HAIBike with 180mm Front and Rearhttp://electricbikereview.com/wp-content/uploads/haibike-xduro-nduro-pro-electric-bike-review-670x270.jpg
  21. So a top cyclist can produce 1500w - 2000w of power at peak, right? A normal competitive cyclist can maybe produce 1200w A normal non-competitive trail rider? 500w - 1000w? Add 500w to any normal folk and their power would still not match a weak pro rider. Trail damage can seriously hardly be a factor in anything here. I just don't see why everyone is so uptight about this. So maybe lets look at Pros vs Cons of a few bike types: XC Racer ( EPIC) - Climbs Brilliantly, descending not so much (unless you are a Pro) Trail bike (Stumpjumper) - Climbs okay, descending good Enduro bike (Enduro) - Climbs hard but doable, Descends very Well DH Bike (Demo) - Climbs terribly, Descends Brilliantly E-Bike (Turno Levo) - Climbs Brilliantly, Descending Good(like Stumpy?) Maybe the biggest problem is that they have applied this to a trail bike and not something much bigger like a DH bike? If you want the best of both worlds, you have to make it that way.
  22. We had about 7 teams there from our "Box", ranging from first timers in the Rookie division to our top athletes in the Elite division (I was somewhere in the middle of Rookie.) Some of the top athletes are terrifying (that includes some "women")! I do battle to understand how someone can get that big without taking something. Random drug testing is becoming more and more prevalent in these comps, which is a good thing.
  23. Wyatt, you make some good points. To be honest, the attention whore aspect is one of the things I really don't like about Crossfit. I have seen some amazing things achieved by people that have done nothing physical before they discovered Crossfit, and they are justified in being proud of their achievements, BUT sometimes they take the Facebook posts, Selfies, Twitter thingies, etc too far. I don't need to know every time they manage to lift a half kilogram more than the last time. Crossfit has grown faster than most sports in the last few years, and a lot of people have climbed onto the bandwagon. I guess it will all settle down as the sport reached some kind of maturity. Only time will tell if it falls over in the same way that Aerobics did. As for the Öld age" thing - I am 40 and in better shape than I was at 25. I see myself getting fitter and stronger in the next few years before I start to decline like everyone does as they get older. If I one is not stupid about it there is no reason not to do it until old age. We have a 60 year old lady that participates in our classes, and she is getting fitter and stronger, and loving it.
