This is a freaking joke and I wouldn’t accept that fine and never in my life will I pay such ****🙄 I commute to the waterfront from the north via this section 2-3 times per week and take this route without fail as the bus/cycle lane is an absolute death wish. Been doing this for 10 years and took the bus/cycle lane when it was still new and safe but those days are long gone.😢 I can’t believe the audacity of them even considering to fine cyclists using that stretch of road be it legal or illegal as we don’t have any safer alternatives. I would love to ride through the harbour but I’ve been denied access time after time. They can have a field day handing out fines on Saturday and Sunday mornings with hundreds of cyclists heading to town/chappies every weekend along that route🙄

Another attempted bike jacking 45mins ago just before Woodstock bridge as you heading out of the CBD. Perpetrator walking casually across the freeway in our direction then suddenly went for the last man and kicked his rear wheel but luckily he kept it up but the rest of the group was very aware and immediately turned around to chase after him but he fled back across the freeway to the other side to meet up with the rest of his crew. 3-4 of them in total. We were a group of 9 grown men and they still tried their luck so looks like we need to avoid this section again😡 We warned a group of 3 heading in that direction but its only because I knew the 1 guy and had his number. They were literally heading straight into an ambush only being 2 men and 1 lady.

I commute to the waterfront along Marine Drive 2/3 times per week on my road or gravel bike and I just use the backed up morning traffic as my shield when I get to the WOMAG section and the same in the afternoon when I approach the Woodstock bridge area. It seems fairly safe during peak traffic times and I haven't had any mugging attempts there yet.

Gravel race route or gpx file available?

I have seen a vid of a few cyclists riding away in that vacinity at 2h30am this morning. Its a short vid so not sure whether these were taken by 12 individuals or not. Also not sure of the exact location of the cameras to the actual guest farm.

Van der Poel will not be doing Omloop tomorrow he pulled out because he came down with the flu in the week

Durbie Dash 2019, 1 Tonner and Sportive 7 have all given me a sub 10 index but that was of course starting from A or $ and finishing in the winning bunch. I suppose starting in B and then getting a sub 15 index to get into A shouldn't be that hard either since PPA changed the index for A to 0-15 instead of the previous 0-10 rule. Remember a few years back PPA used to do the avg of your 3 lowest index scores before you could improve your seeding. These days they only use your best 1 result so it should be a lot easier these days.

I must admit I think that the index/winners time adjustment is pretty fair. This race was way to easy and that was clear as 50 plus riders all finished on the same time. It would be unrealistic to bump all 50 riders seeding to below an index of 10. This coming weekend will be your best chance to bump up your seeding at the 99er.
