  5. Nice that Bora has a South African chef
  6. When does live coverage start?
  7. Link to stream the race later?
  8. I am unfortunately out for the ride on the 4th as its KFM K-day at Meerendal that day but I will send my club members to come and pay some respect.
  9. Based on last year you should be in 1B start group with that index.
  10. All races are penalized except the Premier seeding events.
  11. Ok makes sense and totally correct assumption.
  12. So last years actual winning time was 2h10 and adjusted to 2h00 beta of 1.06 This year actual winning time 2h20 and adjusted to 2h18 beta of 1.02
  13. Last year's Durbie dash was actually 1.06 beta but PPA increased all the beta's of their races during winter to boost our seedings it seems. But I agree this year was much tougher than last year. winner last year did 2h10 and this year 2h20 so clearly beta should be higher than last year.
  14. Those were the USN boys and whoever managed to stay with them till the end. As soon as we caught A bunch I sat up as I was dead
  15. This must have been the toughest race I have done in a very long time. Started in C batch which wasnt that big around 30-35 riders and started off pretty gently until we turned right onto Fisantekraal heading towards R44. I knew that the crosswinds was gonna hurt so I stayed in the top 10 the whole way with 4-5 USN A boys pulling hard on the front. I didnt look back once until we turned left onto the R44 when I was hoping for a rest but alas we had formed a break of around 10-12 guys. Pace didnt drop at all but rather ramped higher as we hit the rollers before we turned left at voor paardeberg. I must say the guys in the break rode excellently forming proper echelons and doing proper turns on the front then falling back into line. We caught the B batch and picked up some straggling A/B and VA/VB riders along the way. On the Klipheuwel rd it was really tough but again those USN boys did most of the work and crosswinds causing lots of weaving coz of the gusts but you had to be very alert. On the Philadelphia rd it was really hard to keep the echelon working properly as the 2 routes merged with lots of half distance riders riding 2 or 3 abreast and in the middle of the road. We took some big risks riding in the opp lane in order not to get dropped and this is where I burned a few to many matches. After we turned left on adderly rd heading back to Durbanville we were still 20 - 25 guys but not long after that we were down to around 8 guys and me hanging on for dear life. We caught the A bunch with around 5kms to go and I decided to sit up as my legs were fried but the USN boys carried on past. I then got a dead wheel whilst sitting in A and just couldn't reel them in again and cruised to the finish line and managed 2h32 finishing 5th in C. Thanks to the USN boys that put on the hurt and took me to a very dark place Really awesome bunch of guys as we managed to chat a bit out on route and caught up with them again after the race. PS - You dont need big climbs to make a hard race
  16. Well done stricker some really good figures. Basically you are sitting on 4.5w/kg What did Mr Wakefield say about possible gains to be made in the future? 10% realistic for him?
  17. Its on their FB page as well https://www.facebook.com/The-Outriders-Cycle-Club-894609700587004/?fref=ts
  18. I have a buddy leaving Thornton at around 4h30 and meeting up with the rest of us just before 5am then we all cycling to the event from Monte Vista. So you welcome to join us for a proper warm up before the race then we also cycling home again afterwards.
  19. I commute on my road bike but I haven't been doing it quite enough since my wife gave birth to our 2nd kid in Jan. I have to drop my boy at crèche in the morning and then only I can cycle in. But I will def be picking it up again as I hate not cycling to work.
  20. I commute to Durbanville regularly from Monte Vista and I also go over tiekies. What time do you have to be at work and what time would you be leaving home? I generally leave between 7am - 7h15 and takes me 40-45mins to get to work. We could commute in together sometime to make it less boring.
  21. Yeah legs chickened out of Tiekie this morning.
  22. What a lovely commute it was this morning into work especially compared to yesterday's South Easter suffer fest Woofie which route are we taking home today? Tiekie or Frans Conradie?
  23. We await your feedback
