  1. No, write this down as the worst race of your life. Cant get any worse. I should have known when I went to register and we got no goodie bags, and paper numbers. Printed on a4 paper, with rain predicted. I should have walked away then, rocked up the next morning, saw about 10 people on the starting line, should have walked away then. Point being it was a *** race start to finish, *** route, no marshalling or waterpoints or any route management. It was the worst race and ride of my life. I feared for my life, dodging taxis on a road with no yellow line or shoulder, on a Public holiday after most people had a piss up before braai day. Shocking, you guys should be ashamed. Put peoples at risk for your own pocket. Massive dissaster.
  2. I like your answer dude. I was thinking that too. But I could not back up my comment. But yes, I would not even want the Chinarello. Rather just buy a bike in my price range and not go through a mid life crisis.
  3. Beautifull. Good choice. I have the carbon stumpy, and its my first choice when selecting my bike for the day. Pick it over my dual suspension 29er carbon all the time. Dunno why, its just a amazing bike.
  4. Fair enough, and valid point. But why does average Joe spend big money on a Pinarello. Considering most pros are sponsored a bike. Someone willing to pay that amount of money may not be the target market for that bike. I dont get it.
  5. Dont know much about road bikes, but that seems crazy. My mtb frame is 1100 grams, can that be? Road bike has a fork, but still.
  6. Then xx1 must be porn in 3d. Xtr is nice for sure. Agree with you
  7. I actually dont understand what the rant is about. If you buy a S- works bicycle, there are a lot of things to consider. They are super expensive to buy, they require double the maintenance of other bikes, parts are expensive, you will be a prime target for bikejackings and robberies etc etc. If the frame cracked or something drastic went wrong I would understand. But little bearings on that cost a fraction of the bike. Now considering selling the bike, does not make sense to me.
  8. I have to disagree with you friend, XTR is fragile compared to XT. Seen this with my own eyes.
  9. "normal fork" Haha, I am staying far away from this topic, the lefty boys are a sensitive bunch.
  10. I will enter tomorrow at the tourist thingy is Stellenbosch like you said. Can I enter and register at the same time.
  11. Die topic is al 100 keer bespreek op die hub. Spez fietse word in aparte afdeling gebou, met hul eie personeel en ontwerpe. Doen bietjie navorsing.
  12. Huyndai and Kia build millions of cars a year. Does not mean they are good or that I want one. Whats your point.
  13. Your loss. If you are a vetseun like your name states. You wont gain anything from a company that spends millions in r&d and testing. And also put millions back into the sport sponsoring riders and races. Your choice. Dont however compare a Titan to a Spez. You wil make yourself look foolish.
  14. Thats including everything. Spend some time on a internet connection and google. How many Titan bikes you see at world champs. Thats right. Good brand then.
  15. Specialized guys have taste. They wont drive ***. They drive Merc and Audis
  16. That is very heavy, I have a Specialized stumpjumper Carbon expert R30 000, Medium frame, 9,8kg. With no upgrades, if I upgrade the wheels I will go to 9,5kg.
  17. Trek is by far the better frame. They have way more experience than Merida. However in this fine country of ours, Trek has possibly the worst back up service and support of any brand. At that price point, not too much can go wrong, so I would go with the Trek, I am not too keen on the Merida Fong Kong logo on my bike.

Mtb gearing is more forgiving. Also the ride is not as harsh if you are not used to 5-6 hours on the bike. the big tyres soak up the bumps. Slicks on your mtb will be fine dude. I was passed last year by many guys on mountain bikes with knobblies, and I was on a carbon road bike racing machine.
  20. Hermanus. Piketberg is still too wet for me.
  21. Giant is like coca cola. You can buy it on every street corner.
  22. 15 percent off, really. So if I buy bibs for R500, I get R75 discount. Dont expect any overnight campers or long lines.
