  1. Please give us feedback. Keen to know what others think. Seriously. Not knocking the 27,5. Just for me, not the best option. Still fun, even a bmx is fun to ride for me. Just love bikes.
  2. I hear you, absolutely, I stated the trance was nowhere. Trail bike, hated it. Slow slow slow. Anthem 27,5 vs Anthem 29er, Anthem 29er was much faster, and much more enjoyable. Both same spec, xt all round, I think. 2 x10 for sure, on both. In the corners it was close, but in the flats the 29er rips the 650b a new asshole. I went out and tried it. Personally I dont think the 27,5 bring anything to the table. My friends agree. Go ride them yourself and then comment.
  3. I did a Anthem 27,5, then a Trance 27,5, then a Anthem 29er. Back to back, same route. Setup by team Giant. Remember, I went open minded, more than willing to buy 27,5. For ME, MYSELF, I much prefer the 29er, much much faster between my legs. Go out and test ride them.
  4. Hard luck dude. Cape Town becoming the worst place to own a bike in the world.
  5. All were medium frame bikes. Whats your point. All were setup by the Giant team. Who better to setup a Giant bike? Your opinion? I rode the bikes, and thats my opinion. I am way way way faster on a 29er and enjoy the 29er much more. My opinion. What about the other people I spoke to who shared the same sentiment after their test ride.
  6. Agreed. Absolutely. Could have handled it better. Wont stop me buying their bikes, shoes, helmets etc.
  7. Wishfull thinking. They make good bikes. If the legal department have a brain freeze, does mean they make bad bikes.
  8. Between the Raleigh from Makro or a 27,5 from Giant. Cant quite decide. tough choice.
  9. oh my word, how horrific. I am gonna sell all my Spez bikes and clothing. And buy anther brand who are not focussed on making money and dominating the market. Gonna ride a Raleigh 29er from Makro safe bet.
  10. Yes, I have also seen the bike in the classified section. I went to the Giant bicycles demo day at Delvera yesterday. I went with a open mind, eager to test the 650 anthem and trance. What an absolute let down. Did a loop with the 650 Anthem, then 650b trance, then the 29er Anthem. Was about 2 minutes faster on the 29er anthem than the 650 anthem, trance was nowhwere. Then i took my own bike, 29er Spez Stumpjumper carbon on the same loop after three test rides in the heat, 5 minutes faster than the 29er Anthem. Everyone i spoke to said they could not justify buying a 27,5 over their 26, and no-one wanted to change their 29er for the 650b. So I have experience riding all the wheel sizes, and my preference is 29er by n country mile.
  11. Just entered and booked accomadation in Struisbaai. 64km race with the biggest climb being under 200 meters. Yeeeees pleeaaaaaase. Thankyou.
  12. Proudly wear my Songo jersey. Love what they are doing, spoke to a couple of the young Songo riders at Origin of the trails this weekend. Nice guys, trying to not fall into the nasty habits of their friends. I support proudly them.
  13. Scam for sure, guy used copy and paste on the parts lists. These guys must think we are as dumb as they are. The parts list he put on Gumtree shows it has Maxis tyres. Can clearly see on the photo the bike has Specialized tyres fitted. What a fool.
  14. That looks really unpleasant. Bike took a beating it seems. I think it is quite easy to get carried away on singletrack like that, because its soo much fun, I also came very close to serious accidents a couple of times on Saturday.
  15. Thats the bike yes. Camber comp carbon, just love it. i saw the guy just before the ambulance arrived. He was in a bad state.
  16. G spot made my week. Its just so awsome. By the looks of your profile pic we have the same bike, built for singletrack like that.
  17. It was 2 completely different days. Both incredible, absolutely my favourite race I have ever done. Today was flat and fast and I made up some time I lost on the tough climbs yesterday. G- Spot was unreal, did not even feel my tired legs going down there. Will be there for sure next year.
  18. Well done dude. Having ridden the same course, mad respect. It was not easy.
  19. What a day today, I absolutely loved it. such an amazing route, did not like the bit through Kayamandi, but after that was all brilliant. To end it off with a run down G-spot, probably the best bit of single track in the country. Superb race, waterpoints good, food after the race brilliant, organisation, marshalling everything just brilliant. Watch this space, this is gonna become one of the most sought after races in the country. Hope the organisers give us first option to enter next year, all of us who made the first one so special. What a weekend in Stellenbosch.
  20. Geez it was tough. A little too tough I think, enjoyment factor went out the window when we all had to push at the 27km mark. I even saw some top pros pushing. I was so tired after the climbs I could not even enjoy the single track. And the singletrack was epic, let me assure you. Tomorrow will be easier.
  21. Did a couple of below par events they organised, and then the last straw was the absolutely horrific Monument challenge they organised in June this year. They did not deliver on any pre race promises and a route with loads of traffic, especially trucks, with no marshalling at all. After that, I realized they dont give a flying f$ck about us. My opinion, with so many races I pick the ones they are not involved in.
  22. The Durbanville area races are always very well supported. Loads of people.
  23. I avoided this race. Because of the ridiculous start times, and ASG involvement. I unfortunately think twice before participating in anything they organise. We all went to the Dirtopia event at Delheim, km and km of single track, just amazing. All of us loved it.
  24. I can drink quite a bit the night before a race and not feel to bad, but I have been drinking every night for the last couple of weeks. Its that time of year, year end functions, lunches etc, couple whiskeys here, few brandys there. And I must say it has caught up with me, I was nowhere in my race yesterday.
