  1. I was sitting between the dust and the switch. R3k difference between the to and the switch has SRAM. I went for the Avalanche. Did my first road ride today. Well my fitness was the limiting factor. I see the Ltwoo (whatever) does not have a clutch so this could be the reason for skipping gears on rough stuff. At lease I still remember the old 3x MTB group sets that everyt5hing jumped off. So we will see. Re the weight, the frame will NOT be the main contributor, rather the wheels etc. Scary part is my saddle of choice costs 20% of the Dust total and my Seatpost another 20%. Entry level is as entry level does. Just go ride.
  2. Sounds like you are a beneficiary in a will somewhere 😉
  3. Also been hanging around for 18 Years, in the beninging is was a fun place with lots of good scraps, now really just a sales platform with a forum as an aside and plenty of woke moderation for all the pansies. Another sad day was when the comments on the ads were banned. I suppose you need to pander to the masses. Sad but there it is.
  4. There you have it. Demand is waning so cost cutting needs to happen (believe they have been overpriced for a long time now). They sit with an interesting marketing conundrum. Drop the price and hope they get more entries or Increase the price, have only one event and make more money with less effort/overheads. All these bucket list events are in a similar boat with the majority of peoples budgets shrinking. However those that can afford it will continue to afford it even if the prices goes up. Within reason of course, but the less entrants the more "exclusive" the event becomes so........ So as an organizer you pick you poison and live with it. There is no going back I am afraid.
  5. Guys, remember the requirement was for wider tyres. Or did I miss something?
  6. If anyone pitches up there and wants an entry I am not going. No charge except transfer.
  7. Go to https://tiz-cycling.io/categories/paris-2024/ that is up and running 100% view any time.
  8. Temo have for ZAR 96.00 Anatomic for ZAR 299.00 Spez for ZAR 690.00 and and and. Note the 96ZAR is the same as the 690 ZAR. Same thing different print.
  9. Neoprene toe covers for the win. Cheap as far as cycling gear goes and they work wonderfully.
  10. I cant really see anything in those photos. However my experience with cracking rims (I have had quite a few as I have become a lard ass but still have the weight weenie rims), is that they normally crack longitudinally from the spoke holes. Also longitudinally inside the rim under the rimtape from spoke holes out?
  11. So pretty much a roadie race on gravel. Looked Super hard.
  12. That is because it is the new golf................ well old golf now. The more you can spend the better you are apparently. Coat, hat, door...........
  13. The issue was the statement that he was looking at a full sus because he was scammed by a bike shop because it was rusting. Hence the rabbit hole this thread has gone down.
  14. I am jumping in on this stage having not read the whole thread yet. But DAMN rusting... That will happen in one week if exposed to the elements and not lubing and maintaining the bike. If I was my bike and don't lube it it shows rust within a few days. I think the issue is more ignorance than anything else. Not being scammed. All bikes no matter where you buy them have the same components. The shop is not the issue the owner is. Also if you are going dual suspension and these are your issues be afraid, be very afraid as you are going to have way more issues and way more costly issues. To anyone selling the OP a bike please ensure you include a bike maintenance course and get the OP to sign a waiver or you are going to be in deep dodo.
  15. In my case it is the rider that has gone soft 😉 last year was a way "soft year for me"
