Was at the vaal this weekend with some mates, took the rod with, while we were braaing I quickly threw some line, but I gave up quickly because I had no idea what I was doing and it just didnt feel right, also packed in the wrong line. Well you could feel the cross winds more. And it looks like it puts a weird balance on the back. You dont want lots of weight far back on your bike, you want it low and center. i think it will feel weird in the beginning but you probably get used to it.

Seems like a lekker project. My dad built a bike trainer back in his cycling days. Will try remember to get a pic o fit this weekend. but the roller one looks like a nice project and I'm sure i have all the materials lying around at home

With a garbage bag converted rain jacket pulled over my chest and bag. Smaller p'np bags to cover the smaller things in the bag such as laptop, phone, memory sticks, book or two, etc. Water proof everything with them, then lights on, and push that pedal hard. I keep a few of these bags with me, for this reason.

You can always approach the scouts in that area. they are required to do community projects and that sort of thing in order for them to get advancements in scouting. Ask them if they can help. Cheap labor and its win win.

Its crazy that we have to go through so much effort just to pick up a sticker that says im doing marathon/half marathon and what batch im in. I mean, if they send us which batch we are in and the time we start, why do we need to put a sticker on to show everyone that you are in batch x. The chip in the board will come up in their system, so if i start early it can DQ me, they dont check everyones stickers at the start line to see if you are in the correct batch. And its not like those goodies are worth the drive either.

SECURITY AND START TIME <- needs attention. Security, um, 2 big items stolen(bike and bakkie) at first event there, totally bad luck and not good rep. I am not blaming this entirely on Hakahana as these things can get stolen ANYWHERE, but an up in TRUSTWORTHY security will do good Times, adventurance, saseeding, or whoever organizes these things, lets get these races started earlier in the HOT summer days. I duno hey, for me it was a little bit better that VG, I was able to ride out all the mountains(dismounted once or twice due to riders stopping in front of me, but I got back on and continued). Way less rocks that VG - much more forgiving to my back and bike. Set a better time than VG.
