  1. I have been a marshal, an untrained one to help out. What i have noticed is that cars have no care in the world who you are unless you are metro, or somesort - sometimes thats not enough even. Cars have come passed me when trying to stop them and I have seen the same thing happening to other marshals whilst i was participating in an event.
  2. Sorry but the bike was black AND green to begin with.
  3. The black matches perfect.
  4. My boy Blake. Cross between a staffie and some skinny pavement special from off the street (really no clue what she was). His dad is one frus chris, but he got a lot of his mothers features, I love him none the less.
  5. I know ghost bike shop in roodepoort have quite a few helmets, for R300, (old stock), but nothing wrong with them and there are some great helmets there. I have been searching for a decent helmet thats correct size, fit and price. Found the perfect one there within 2 min of looking and at r300. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Ghost-Bikes-South-Africa/316003618426874?fref=ts
  6. You are more than welcome to donate to me, I don't mind.

  10. Must you have a photo or something to back it up?
  11. So yesterday afternoon on my way home, a taxi comes passed all the cars waiting at the red robot in the oncoming traffic lane while cars are turning into that lane. He then jumps the red robot (at this point the cars and bus stop to avoid collision with imbecile), he races to next robot( also red) and jumps that one too while cars with right of way are busy driving. He had no lights on and it was raining really bad - there was so much water i could hardly see though my windscreen with the wipers on full.

  13. As far as my knowledge goes, with cycle-sure you need to have(and also use) a 15mm lock on your bike, if it is on your car during transport or if it is standing in your garage. but drop them a mail, they should explain to you.
  14. http://www.solomonsonline.co.za/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=500 So I'm guessing these specials are not very special after all?
  15. This happens to me too often. I dont know if I have a repelling smell or maybe I dont look like a potential buyer. Its like these are just randoms opening shops without reading "Running a LBS for dummies"
  16. have a look at the ghost bikes. Very good, and great value for money. And it looks like Max Knox will be riding with them for 2014. There is a nice store that can help you out, I only know of their facebook page, but its worth a look https://www.facebook.com/pages/Ghost-Bikes-South-Africa/316003618426874
  17. I did a road race a few weekends ago on my mtb. I did the shorter route so when the one group came passed me for their second lap of longer route I jumped onto the back of their train at 50km/h average, eventually when they started moving around and saw me there they gave me DUK skeef looks, felt very cheeky
  18. The bumps in the road are quite hectic, I'm always scared I lose a spoke like I did at the Emperors and that was at a slower speed. Some of the bumps on the 94.7 route are on downhills where you are cruising at easy 60km/h and are situated a few meters apart. I tried bunny-hopping(just slightly lifting the bike actually) over them and landing as soft as possible. A dismount due to hitting a bump and losing a spoke, that's when I call it quits at the 94.7. There seems to be quite a few accidents en route, hope all of them are ok and wish them speedy recovery. I have done worse routes so cant complain. I had a good time. got my PB. my friend did his first 94.7 on a bike that I sponsored to him, did a 5h, but he loved every minute of it and he is pretty hooked on cycling now (next year sub 3 for him). So I will be back next year to do it all over again.
  19. depends how you look at it, maybe he is really thinking mtb'ers are tougher than the roadies, and saying you are much tougher than him. - in this case you should have thanked him If he meant it in a chop kinda way - then thats just not cricket
  20. That's what I thought. The ladies in a lower batch can sit with strong men, whereas the elite women ride with themselves. I mean it makes sense for first over the line wins.
  21. Can someone please tell me who actually won the women's category? I saw that Moolman won, but according to racetec, 4 women from D batch took the first 4 spots and beat Moolman by 7 min or so. Does Moolman win for crossing the line first? and the women that got a better time get nothing(maybe a sponsor afterwards). Its just difficult to read that she won, then see the results show differ, and by such a big gap.
  22. Maybe they could not make it back to their car after hard ride, and had someone to drive them home/to hospital?
  23. Yeah they are very strong, at the last local race 2 weekends ago, they dropped the whole peloton with like 20km to go and did a tandem victory. Much respect to them
