Did my 1st race on my single speed today,70km. Finished in 3h40, was definitely one of my toughest days on the bike, single speed is incredibly tough but had some good fun at least.
My 1st race on my new 29er ss. I did the 70km but rode without any watch/gps so think my time was about 4hours. A change in mindset is required for the flat sections as I can't stay with the geared bikes.
Well I'll be on the blue SS with red chain. Not sure what kit yet depends on what's at the top of the pile in the morning. What else can distinguish me from the rest of the folks?
70 km - start group C - Silver Silverback SS with white chain - White/green/black top with red "Ride"
no one afraid of the wind?
Nothing can make me slower than I already am
Bring your big boy pants. Rode the route on Saturday on SS and its tough!
As a non beer drinker any route is tough for me after the 1st beer shortcut. Although they then get very easy after the 4th beer.
Burry gebruik dit, en as Burry dit gebruik dan moet dit werk.
Burry has the South African agency for Rotor Rings
My 29erSS has 33-18. Done 2 rides on it so far. Seems a decent ratio for normal climbs. Previous 26er SS had 32-16. I could get up most of Breedts Nek on it.
Way I read it, Stage 2 included boulders + 30k's of **** loads of climbing (gulp - dry mouth)
Stage distances:
STAGE 1: BARBERTON TO NELSPRUIT VIA HILLTOP – 42KM
STAGE 2: NELSPRUIT TO KAAPMUIDEN VIA BOULDERS – 58.8KM
STAGE 3: KAAPMUIDEN TO BARBERTON – 54KM
I found that the climb up Hilltop is steeper than Boulders ( although it is shorter)
Very sad.
I was going to commute to work this morning but when I saw the thick mist I took my car. Many commuter cyclists do not have the same options.
Route profiles look awesome. Seems to suit the singlespeeders much more than Trailseeker #1.... I can't wait!
I am considering taking my SS for it's 1st race action. It will be good preparation for the SS race on 28 July
Hi gents,
I should hitch up my trailor, make a round trip and collect all the unwanted bikes, kit etc. I would realy like to make your problems mine.
Ha, Ha

Strangely enough we can "justify" the multiples:-
EG shoes - each of us has
1 x road
1 x mtb
1 x SS
1 x spinning
Bike Racks
1 x 2 bike ride on for when we travel together
2 x 2 bike folding racks - each car has one in the boot in case we need to transport one bike
All makes sense to a cyclist
i cant agree more ! i got some nasty scares from the same thing .
My bike is having a bmx crank set in polished aluminum, half link chain, and bmx rear gear fitted.
i collect it on
saturday.
Keep showing interest guys - the more people we can rope in, the more likely we are to have a major awesome schweet event...

I took a transfer to one of our divisions based in Witbank. We have made contact with some local riders and will start riding with them this week. We are 170kms closer to Sabie, Mankele, Swaziland and other good riding places. Wife gets to work from home and my commuting time reduces from 4 hours a day to 20 minutes. Much more time to ride our bikes
2 x road bikes
2 x mtb bikes
2 x ss bikes
1 x shared santa cruz tallboy
We ride the size frame so swopping bikes is easy apart from saddles and brake orientation
In the past three years we have given 8 bikes to various development programs. When we buy another bike we normally give one away.
We moved to a new city this week. As my wife is away in Cape Town I have been unpacking without supervision ( interference). This afternoon I sorted out our cycling collection. Apart from the 7 bikes we have 8 pairs of cycling shoes, 7 helmets, 5 camelbaks and 3 Thule bike carriers. And we gave 3 bikes away before the move.luckily my wife cycles so I don't have spend my life justifying what I spend
This is great information. I was thinking about doing a flatbar conversion as I never ride in the drops and I had found a spare mtb carbon flatbar during my move yesterday. Now I don't have to do any research
My last payment is on Saturday. As the car I want will only be available in South africa in early part of next year I will be enjoying a car payment holiday for nearly a year.

That looks awesome, but I hate it when people don't put prices on their website
It is very expensive
Hey guys,
We have reached 2000 entries for NISSAN TRAILSEEKER #2 Diamond Rush. With only 500 entries left and 16 days until online entries close...ENTER NOW!!! http://advendurance....es/trailseeker2
I have tried to enter and pay. I hope that Pieter sorts out our entries before the limit is reached. If not then I am going to be an unhappy camper
Nice Silverback. Who built it for you?

Currently 1,73cm and 76kgs - medium build.
Used to be 85kgs ( 6 % body fat) when I was still playing softball but I stopped all the weight training as those muscles were useless for cycling.
