  1. All this unnecessary swearing and use of bad language. Use a helmet, don't do it - no one can force you to use one, not even the police. From what I hear Paul's a nice guy. If he chooses not to wear a helmet let him be. If he has an accident with head injuries that could have been avoided it's his own responsibility. If he has medical help and they decide to reduce their cover of medical costs or not to pay anything in such an event he can't complain. Ride that bike!
  2. I just watched the clip!

  4. Thats what my parents kept saying. I never understood! TheLegend2008-07-31 15:39:31
  5. This great idea will work great with expensive carbon wheels wont it? You really seem to know your sh*t man! In fact it does work very well cause that sudden impact is what the carbonfibres need. The fibres are wutie strong and slow tensioning of them does nothing. sudden impacts do th ejob very well though - just like "strechting" your muscles. If you fear to stretch them too far you can put rocks from the side of the road underneath. No need for fancy tools - nature has what you need! Always a pleasure to learn new stuff from the master. Now where is that buckled Bora's..... I feel flattered! You are close to having me create a new name TheMaster and give TheLegend to my young friend!

  7. I was shown once how to repair an untrue wheel on the spot without any tools. All you need is to be heavy and then stand on the wheel. If you aren't heavy enough call a friend/neighbour/ewep/etc.
  8. You'd be the first able to!
  9. And I think you a) didn't answer the question the post-starter asked and b) misinterpret Pickled becaue all he says is that when using the same brake pads for aluminium and carbon rims by swopping the wheels you must check the brake pads for little metal parts in the rubber before putting the carbon rim in because the aprts will damage the material. The essence of his answer is that you can use that one set of brakepads for bot rim/braking surface materials.
  10. I never watch coverages from the Tour or read articles on it very attentive, but I wonder how I could have missed that there's a one armed rider in the peloton. Wh does he also have a brake and shifters on the left, the armless, side of the handlebar? Is it in case he needs to give his bike to a teammate? Are there special shifters for one armed people? Does he always have to ask some rider besides him for assistance if he wants to change his front blade? RESPECT TheLegend2008-07-27 01:08:15
  11. http://www.cyclingnews.com/road/2008/olympics08/news.php?id=/news/2008/jul08/jul09news3oly Hunter: Olympic medal doesn't mean much http://www.cyclingnews.com/photos/2007/jan07/tdu07/tdu071/dsc_0006tn.jpg South Africa's Robbie Hunter might ride for one of his national team-mates at August's Beijing Olympic Games in China. While the Barloworld rider didn't contest last year's Olympic test event, he believes the profile of the hilly course won't suit sprinters like himself. Hunter also believes the lack of financial reward for winning the Olympic Games makes it less appealing than Tour de France success. "For me I want to try and get the best result possible," he told IAfrica.com. "The course might not be best suited to me it may be better suited to Jean Lee who is the younger rider. But obviously we also need to look at the next four weeks ahead of the Olympics and see what condition we are in when we arrive [in Beijing]." Hunter, a Tour de France stage winner, admitted the Olympic Games don't have the same prestige as a Tour de France stage win. The rider said it was difficult to compare the two, given the Olympics only take place every four years. "That's difficult to answer and you need to look at it from both aspects," admitted Hunter. "As far as cycling is concerned an Olympic medal does not mean much - a stage of the Tour de France means a lot more. "Not that the Olympics means nothing it is just that it only comes around once every four years, there are other events in cycling such as the world champs that a mean a lot more," he added. "Cycling is sport that runs professionally from February to October every year, so obviously there are events than mean a lot more - for me at this stage of my cycling career a stage win in the Tour de France is a lot more sought after than the Olympics." The South African added that the lack of financial return on winning the Olympic Games is one thing preventing it from equaling the Tour in his book. "The problem is that the financial reward between the two events is a big difference and being a professional athlete the Tour is what basically pays you bill... winning the Olympics the financial reward does not even factor into it," he said. "As far as being a South African and the SA public obviously an Olympic medal means a hell of a lot," he added. Hunter believes Beijing's course might be better suited to Team Barloworld and South African national team team-mate Jean Lee Augustyn.
