Ref's whistle works well on the crowded section and they are friendly,joke with them about giving them a yellow card for not giving way. Section from Lower Church to Paarden eiland dicy especially going over the bridge where the speed comes down to under 20kph and under the next N1 bridge.Confidant riding is key,make eye contact so that they know you are watching them.Also stand up to make yourself look bigger.Keep Pepperspray close at hand in case you fall you must still be able to get to it quickly.Prefer to ride without front light in that section as a flashing light gives the bad guys early warning.Also ride close to the fence in case somebody is waiting in the bushes.Metro police tel 021- 4807700

D-Mike get well soon .Bosmansdam dangerous at the best of times.Once tried to get away from the traffic by riding in the footpath next to the road untill I came to a abrupt stop because my bars were wider than the space between two poles supporting a road sign.

AS I was passing Woodstock MICITI bus station yesterday a saw commuter catching up so I slowed down hoping to join him and of course he then left me for dead as he raced past.FW de Klerk is hectic after 5.30am with long distance busses and trucks.Made that mistake once. Looking forward to Hijack alley this afternoon! Fri and Mon we are prime targets.To crown it all it is payday weekend as well .All the crazies will be out tonight and tomorrow am. Be careful out there

Somebody saw him at Woodstock bus station and thought he looked suspect with the bike ,asked security at the bus stop for help ,when this guy went for his pocket .This pic seems to have been taken near Salt river circle

Another bike jacking yesterday at 5pm on Cycle route between Paarden eiland and Woodstock.Jackers knew Metro cops would not be out on the cycle route in the rain and took their chance. Be carefull out there.

Molteno Rd ,Oranjezicht goes up towards Cable car - still to try. Tried Bellevue st but to much traffic and had to jump off.

Favourite way to avoid traffic in Rondebosch and Newlands via Liesbeeck River Walk on towards Constantia Greenbelt

Beware of container trucks in Paarden Eiland & harbour entrance.Marine service rd very popular with cyclists on the weekends and on Sat morning early a BMW was taken out by a container truck overtaking causing the BMW to veer out of control and crash into a wall.Shortly after that about 20 cyclists came through.Rather stick to the cycle route .

Never trust the weather report .Light rain! BAH .Got drenched this morning.Somehow the clothes in my pack stayed dry.Challenge now to get the kit dry in the storeroom.The worst is the water sloshing around inside your shoes

Especially in the Bel Ombre meadow, where the trail goes through the reeds,2 guys were going down the hill at speed and there was slow traffic coming through the reeds. Be careful out there

2 bags of rubbish collected this morning .Thanks to Michael who stopped to help near Peddlars.More rubbish to be collected near Peddlars and the riding school.What to do with rubbish collected?Luckily the chef at Peddlars accepted to rubbish and donated another plastic bag.
