  1. Had plenty fun out there today
  2. These guys know the huge risks and it's never nice to hear of someone who've lost their life.RIP "Clerk of the Course Gary Thompson confirmed there had been an incident at Churchtown which had resulted in a tree on fire. It was later revealed that there was also an incident at Ballacrye as it was announced the session would be abandoned." https://www.motorcyclenews.com/sport/tt-road-races/2018/may/tt-2018-wednesday-practice-abandoned-after-red-flag/ ******************************** "Dan Kneen has passed away after an incident during this evening’s Isle of Man TT session. The Tyco BMW rider crashed at Churchtown on the opening lap of this evening’s Superbike/Superstock/Supersport session. The session was immediately red flagged, but the 30-year-old died at the scene. Local man Kneen made his debut on the mountain course at the Manx Grand Prix in 2008, winning an unprecedented three races – the Junior, Newcomers C and Ultralightweight MGP races. 2017 saw Kneen clinch his first TT podium in the Superstock race, setting his fastest ever lap of the course with a 130.347mph. His efforts saw him achieve his goal of securing a factory contract, joining the Tyco BMW team for last year’s Ulster Grand Prix, where rostrum finishes on both Superbike and Superstock machinery would see him join the Northern Irish squad for 2018. On just the second night of practice, Kneen bettered his fastest ever lap of the TT course with a 132.258mph to place third in Tuesday’s qualifying session. A popular figure around the TT paddock, Kneen would always bear a smile on his face that will be sorely missed by many." https://www.motorcyclenews.com/sport/tt-road-races/2018/may/tt-2018-dan-kneen-has-died/

  5. Crazy!
  6. Race to the Sun will have a neutral start at Hartebeespoort dam and finish at Sun City Valley of Waves. The total route distance is 162-kilometres with gravel-, farm- and dirt roads along the canals of Brits. http://racetothesun.co.za/ http://racetothesun.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/RTTS_Preliminary-Route-Profile-2018-1024x495.jpg
  7. Are you going for the double this weekend?
  8. Here's a little video i made of Juma 2017: The longer version:
  9. IOMTT in two weeks
  10. @MunchCafeSA at Crowthorne Shopping Centre in Midrand has good coffee, their bacon+feta+avo on ciabatta is top notch and they are very cycling friendly, even providing shade for the bikes.
  11. O lekker lekker lekker, can’t wait! Here’s last year’s event
  12. This year the Cederberg100Miler Race was a week before the Swartberg100 (Cederberg + Swarberg = Double Trouble), which suited me perfectly as I wanted to do both, seeing that i was traveling all the way from Joburg. If the two events are more than a week apart, i can’t do both. Edit: Now if we get the organisers to have the Cederberg100Miler Race + 36one + Swartberg100 Gran Fondo three weeks in a row, we have a tripple challenge on our hands for 2019...
  13. If it does that i’ll definately be back. Point to point is a bit of a drag to get the wife or someone to fetch you at the finish line and then a new place to stay over. So i’m all for your suggestion!
  14. I use Final Cut Pro to edit my videos. The gps signal decided to make Italian Spaghetti...
  15. Well organized event, fantastic goody bag, friendly people, spectacular scenery and a beautiful part of our world with plenty corrugation and rocks and loose sand. Couldn’t go full gas on some of the delicious downhills as i was shaken and stirred so much that i had to slow down to regain consciousness on my gravel bike (40c Maxxis Ramblers - needed wider tyres). Some serious climbing of almost 3100 m, needed some easier gears for some of the climbs at the end and had to walk as my little legs were cooked (52/36 | 11/30)! Would love to go back riding it on my Niner MCR htail with rigid carbon fork, it has much better gearing and will add drop bars with sti’s for more hand positions. Overall a great event. Here’s a relive route map:
  16. Eish, heal up niner. See you next year Eddy.
  17. One of my T’s jumped on my Ride magazine while i was feeding them...
  18. Congrats. So you’ll be riding the epic together as a couple seeing that both of you entered the competition?
  19. Well done to last year’s winner
  20. Jon Ollson's new Black & White Audi RS6
  21. Should have a category next year for fastest team sleeping in tents Edit: Can we please get an update on the winner of last year to ride this year's 2018 Cape Epic and how they are doing (hubname = sram - gone quiet on the hub after winning the entry)? https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/166965-win-with-the-epic-fantasy-league-2017/page-6
  22. I’ve move up to 13th...lucky number 13 or should i rather say ƐƖ It’s very difficult to make a prediction every day, some riders get sick or the legs are just not there, some fall out and then your overall is buggered, it’s actually bloody stressful for your nerves!
