  1. What is actually in the race pack?
  2. Is R20 really a lot of cash? Given that bikes you ride cost in excess of R10k, you bomb you tube with a R20 bomb, you suck gels that cost a lot more, you wear R1k+ tights? Just seems like a whole lot of spoiled children throwing their toys out the cot.
  3. Yoh...havent read this thread, but from what I have read in this and other threads, cyclists moan like bitches!
  4. I think I am also in VV. No seeding sucks. Aiming for sub4 though. First time doing 94.7 and 3 long race.
  5. I already contacted them for shoes and nothing for me there. Good to know though, as I will most probably be looking for other random cycling stuff.
  6. Awesome... will hopefully make it. On average, what time do the bike shops close on a saturday in Jozi? In Durban they are all closed by lunch time. I imagine that this ride will take about 1,5 hours or so?
  7. I am staying at a friend in Randburg, in Bram Fishcer Road. According to google maps it is 18km to the start and about 20min drive. Would it be extremely tiring for me to ride there? Is there a safe cycle route that I can use? I dont know Jhb well at all and I am worried that I am going to get screwed by the road closures.
  8. I am pretty sure that this is illegal? As much as you feel a lot safer, this practice is dangerous, and add further to the negative feelings many drivers have against cyclists.
  9. Eish...any idea how long this ride will take? Bear in mind I am a 4 hour Shova rider. Reason I ask is that I need to collect my race number, and visit a few cycle shops on Saturday looking for shoes? Not sure if i will have enough time to do the ride as well.
  10. I would be keen for more info as well.
  11. I will be staying with a friend in Randburg. I plan on going to collect my race number when they open on Saturday, and will use the rest of the morning to visit a few shops.
  12. So I will be in Jhb next weekend for the 94.7 race. I am looking for a pair of carbon soled shoes, and the Dbn bike stores have failed me, with all of them not having more than 3 different carbon shoes in stock. I would like to know which stores should I go and see while I am there, for range and price. FIrst on my list is Solomons. Although they dont seem to reply to emails, or answer the phone, I want to see what they have in stock. WHich branch should I go to ? Thanks in advance.
  13. My kit for commuting is simple, Shorts and t shirt, I ride with cycle shoes though.
  14. I start at 10:03 if I get accomodation. My original plan fell through as my friend is having issues with his GF and will be moving out around that time.
  15. I didnt notice the downtube shifters on the Fuji. Makro stocks the Raleigh Revenio which has similar specs to the Fuji, but normal handlebar mounted shifting. It i currenlty R4k, but does go on sale for R3k occassionaly. While the groupset is entry level, it will be more than sufficient for your purposes. I did see guys riding Amashova with the Revenio though.
  16. Link for the Fuji
  17. For R3k you can get a Fuji with 8 speed SORA from Solomons Cycles (if they have stock). SHould be more than capable for your use, and apt enough to do small races should the need arise.
  18. No.
  19. I really appreciate the lifestyle I have in Durban. Most days I am out of the office by 4:30, which is unheard of for all my friends in Jhb in my field. On my commute days I ride along the Umgeni River and then along the Durban beach promenade before cutting into the Durban CBD to get to my office. And the ride home is just as enjoyable. Coming out of the office car park on a bike feels amazing, knowing that I will be catching the sunset over the river on my way home.
  20. I wanted to get a pair of shoes from them and they didnt have my size. 42 or 43
  21. Not my biggest purchase this year, but my most useful: a 1200 Lumen rechargeable LED headlight. Super bright and used often.
  22. I dont get this? You try save 9g on the cage, but the cage is going to hold a bottle of liquid weighing so much more. My weight saving tactic. Try lose some weight. In 2months I have managed to drop the weight of my bike by 10kg (with me on the bike)
  23. Yip, and it is friday on the Hub I definitely you for the feedback. I would be really impressed and happy for the service and stock issues to be resolved. In that case everyone wins. Consumer has somewhere to spend their money and CL gets to take consumers money.
  24. Thats all well and good, but doesnt help me out in Durban. Corporate should pay the store a surprise visit, or do some analysis of stock levels. I am sure that the number of SKU's in that store does not exceed 500.
  25. That is the business risk with a franchise model. The franchisee can drag your brand into ***. IIRC this was why Woolies started buying back all their franchised garage outlets and running them. If you are a big customer service brand you cannot allow franchisee's to tarnish your brand as you will see the impact in revenue.
