  1. Spokey that gravel road ride looks amazing. I rode a similar road out from the north end of seweweekspoort which then heads south, also kind of parallel to the Bay, coming out at Laingsburg. Unfortunately I didn't know of you road or I would have taken it rather than joining the N1 South from there
  2. Morning all. I plan to go to Jonkers to watch some of the race. Do you know if I will be allowed to take my bike in with me to get around?
  3. For those of you with action cameras and who, like me, keep losing those infuriating little chrome acorn nuts - without which you can't film - I found a place which supplies them. Bolt-it in Diep River. About R1.10 each if I remember correctly. Nothing more infuriating than setting up a mount only to lose that thing. Hope this helps someone..
  4. Geez, I have ridden that a few times but from the opposite direction so I didn't recognise it. I shoulda recognised it. And your photo, with sun in the correct place, highlights just how beautiful it is. Nice.
  5. Beaut. Nice photos too. Where is that road which seems to be going into a pass?
  6. Lovely big skies
  7. Hmm. What is he stressed about? A failing business? Makes sense and I feel for him if true but he needs to honour his commitments
  8. Oh boy. I've been off this forum for too long and have just caught up. Firstly, Hairy, so sorry to read of all the stuff you're being subjected to. Not sure what your options are but I hope it works out. I enjoy the encouragement and wishes from all who have contributed. Makes it a proper community. Andyman and Spokey, man your collections are looking good and Spokey that pic of the ZZR on the pass and the 690 road trip look great. And finally, I'm riding up to Plett on Thursday and plan to overnight in George or Wilderness. And recommendations?
  9. Ice cream, I'm possibly going to the UK in September. I have a UK car licence via passing a driving test years ago while living there. But I also want a bike licence. Can I just send in my Saffer licence for exchange or is that route not possible any more? Ta
  10. Andy, my deepest sympathy for you and family. Words from well-wishers can never compensate for your loss but I hope you draw comfort from being part of a group here who empathise and wish you comfort and all the best
  11. Did a 3 day trip to Swartberg and Seweweekspoort. What a beautiful country we live in. Swartberg was much more tricky than I anticipated. Lots of ruts and loose rocks.
  12. Lovely collection and photos. It must be a wrench to leave them behind.
  13. ..And you haven't mention a Tiger 900 yet, just to add to the confusion.
  14. Fair enough. Just thought it was a non-negotiable.
  15. Nice bikes but I thought you wanted shaft drive?
  16. Looks good but.... Just FYI, I have read bad things about webuycars
  17. Expends on the reason for its write-off. If an accident then you'd better be sure it's all straight and not prone to wandering, especially at speed. If expensive engine damage then as long as it's been replaced all should be well. What was the reason for the write-off?
  18. Haha. I have been out of cycling for so long, I thought it referred to YouTube, even though I knew of YT bikes.. I pretty much log on here for this thread only.
  19. " with the idea that the market would see more of them coming out in a few months, and hopefully a good few with low mileage that have been garage queens that gets parked outside the local coffee shop on Sunday mornings.". Thw owners of these bike ar the ones from whom I was thinking that the ad may tease out a reaction. What's a YT Jef?
  20. Hairy, Have you considered putting up a "Wanted" advert on Wild Dogs in the Buy and sell section? There may be somebody there thinking of selling but not yet sure and knowing you're looking may convince them to sell.
  21. Beaut project Andy and well-deserved recognition in the article. Chapeau to you.
  22. All good logic and quite true. Just as a matter of interest what was discussed with the ST owner to give you mixed feelings?
  23. Great bike but I think you will pick up a Super Tenere cheaper.
  24. Another: https://wilddog.net.za/threads/very-clean-2014-xt1200ze-super-tenere.280010/
  25. Hairy, just a thought. Given your preference for shaft drive - a wise one I might add - have you considered a Yamaha Super Tenere? Good reliable bikes and I think you should get one for less than a GS. Just a thought..Unless you have reasons for preferring the GS.
