  1. That would be great. I'll be sure to check with you before I set a date. We'll have to fight over the coffee though. Aeropress only makes enough for one cup at a time.
  2. Just my 2c. Yes the GS is big but that has advantages in wind and in visibility. Surprised to hear cars cut in on you but as you say, a loud exhaust and a couple spots should sort that. As mentioned by others it's not an enduro bike but then I wouldn't want to ride an enduro bike long distance. Swings, roundabouts etc. What others do on their GSs is irrelevant to you. If they want to buy one and never go off-road, so what? It's a great all-round bike and despite the pisstaking from riders of other bikes, will serve you well. The most important thing is to decide exactly what you want to do with it.
  3. So good to see someone with taste like mine. I have an Aeropress Go and am making plans to ride up past you sometime in March to go up Swartberg pass and make myself a coffee up there. So looking forward to it. https://www.outdoorwarehouse.co.za/product/aeropress-go
  4. I like them a lot although when cornering the front is very noisy. The sides have a different, softer, silica compound compared to the centre of the tyre and I find they made the bike lean into a corner and track more precisely than the Anakee 3s. Off-road I found them to be fine even in shallow sand but, as you may have seen in my video, they didn't help me when I reacted badly in the soft stuff. To be expected though and fully my fault. They do wander in soft sand but even knobblies do that. They have cut a bit but overall I like them a lot
  5. Not 100% sure but I think I got about 10k out of my Anakee 3s. On Anakee Adventures now on about 5k and still plenty of life
  6. Man, I love this video, if only for the spirit of adventure these guys show.
  7. The kits use the same plugs so yes the cheaper kit will work. Just not a shiny or comprehensive
  8. Sorry Hairy that was a bit rough for a first post of the year. Happy new year guys and I hope this thread stays as cool and rewarding as it is. If anyone is interested I just finished a video of a trip I did last year. Slack I know but if anyone is interested, here it is:
  9. Looks like a fun ride and I like the new surface on Bain's but why, oh why, have they removed all parking spots and added all those rocks to the one or two that remain? Surely it can't be in the name of safety? Look forward to seeing photos of your first motorbike.
  10. Beaut. Old Bikers never die... <add your line here> Mine is "They only hit neutral more often."
  11. I hope you mean they pulled him over.
  12. The latest coffee and croissant outing. Followed by a stop on the coast road.
  13. Thanks ICM. Not sure about my car. It's a 2005 Outback so emissions m ay be an issue but mechanically it's sound and in great condition but the inurance valuation is so bad it's mot worth my selling it. I may leave it here just in case I come back for a holiday or change my mind. Or if the "Moonshot Pact" takes off. Fat chance. Good news about the licence though. I will PM you and perhaps get to talkin on the phone although I use Signal instead of Whatsapp. Thanks again
  14. Bugger. My landlord is selling so I need to move. Major upheaval so I am considering one option as leaving and going to the UK. I have a passport. So this is a question to Ice Cream Man and others who have made the move. Is it worth sending my GS over or would it be better to sell here and buy another?. And secondly, I have a UK driver's licence for a car but not bike. Can I swap my Saffer bike licence or do I need to go the whole rigmarole?
  15. Haha you have my sympathy. It becomes almost obesssive after a while and if you don't attend to it, it gnaws away at you. I just waterpapered the scratches on my crash bars for the same reason. Not perfect but an improvement.
  16. "good tunes". That made me laugh, thanks
  17. I wear earplugs because my engine is just so damned noisy so no intercome for me. There's a thread about it on Wilddogs where there are some good things said about Cardo and then a poster mentions (and quotes the blurb) about the new Sena. Both quite pricy. https://wilddog.net.za/threads/how-to-choose-motorcycle-helmet-intercom.278090/#post-5046248
  18. I think they were looking for the waterfront and ended up in the wrong bay.
  19. And here's why I came here in the first place. An unusual sighting this afternoon up Chappies.
  20. Sorry to hear that Hairy. Bikes can be expensive for sure and we just have to remind ourselves of the joy we get from them. Hope you get snorted soon and cheaply.
  21. I think there's an adventurer in you somewhere
  22. Early morning ride up signal hill to see the sunrise. Which never happened.😃. Still, good spot for coffee
  23. Also out and about yesterday. Bewdeeful day despite being chilly. Theewaterskloof is overflowing! And went to our WC Ace Cafe equivalent.
  24. Andymann, have you tried the Wilddog portal? I'm sure you'll sell it there and the guys seem to be trustworthy. https://wilddog.net.za/
