  1. My AG Orbis fund is down, I think, about 17%. Ouch.
  2. I still don't get it and thought gold was always a safe refuge, especially in times of panic. Only fact I have is that Sibanye has a revolving credit facility of, I think, R7.5 Bn. So perhaps with the Rand tanked it is a bigger load to bear.. I did find this: "Traders were “exiting everything which is giving them profit,” said Chintan Karnani, chief market analyst at Insignia Consultants, with a technical selloff triggered when gold fell below $1,500." And this: https://www.marketwatch.com/story/why-golds-plunge-proves-its-a-safe-haven-asset-2020-03-12?mod=article_inline But generally you are correct - there was a flight to cash.
  3. Can anybody explain to me why the Gold mines are down? Is it related to gearing?
  4. Haha. Selling tomorrow is not spending time in the market. And it just means you have to stay in four times as long..
  5. I was wondering.. Is it possible that we may be saved from a downgrade by Moody's because of consideration given to the Covid outbreak?
  6. That old aphorism applies: It's not timing the market, but time in the market
  7. And I'm sure that, like the 1200, the seat is adjustable for height.
  8. I think the GS800 is higher even than the GS1200
  9. Ice Cream, when you going to take a ride up to Ace Cafe?
  10. I met Brad last week in CT and came away with the same impression. I think Darren is for sure skillful enough to win many races but is perhaps a tad impetuous. And unlucky. I success comes his way too.
  11. Well, we tried.. Haha, just kidding. Enjoy.
  12. If you're using your browser it's much more that that but , OK then.
  13. Interesting article here on Opera.. https://www.expressvpn.com/blog/best-browsers-for-privacy/ In particular: 7. Opera The creator of the CSS web standard, Hakon Wium Lie, developed Opera in 1995. The browser has since adopted much of Chromium’s code into its software and is now considered one of the more popular privacy-oriented browsers. Weeks between updates: 4-6. This Chromium-based browser lags a little in its updates, which come out every 4-6 weeks. Ideally, the updates should be implemented every 3-4 weeks to minimize exposure to vulnerabilities patched by the latest Chromium release. 4 stars Security: Opera boasts several security features that make your browsing experience safer. From its fraud and malware protection to blocking scripts and add-ons that are unsecure, Opera provides a robust, secure browsing experience. 3 stars Privacy: As with Chrome, Opera’s default window will cache your data, and its private one won’t—although you can tweak this in your settings to enhance in the default browser window. While Opera does provide ways to customize your privacy and security, the opt-out method of securing and privatizing your browsing experience may not be appreciated by those more comfortable with browsers that provide it by default. More alarming, though, is the free built-in VPN that Opera bought in 2016. It’s a troubling addition to the browser, as it tracks bandwidth and logs usage, and Opera itself is owned by a company based in a country notorious for privacy violations. Browser beware. 1 star See here for reason: https://www.engadget.com/2016/07/18/opera-browser-sold-to-a-chinese-consortium-for-600-million/
  14. Forgot to mention, in order to get to this screen, you open up the ExpressVPN App on your MITV. Bit of advice, you will get better performance in SA when using USA locations if you connect to states on their East Coast - Eg New York, Miami, Washington etc as opposed to Los Angeles.
  15. Not a dof question. I suggest you just go to ExpressVPN site and read up on it until you get it. It's not difficult - it just needs to be explained to you and you'll get it. Don't be intimidated. Below is a screenshot from my phone, similar to what you will get when you connect. The big button connects/disconnects you. Below that is the descriptor of your current connection. In my case, Washington. To change it, just click on the dots to the right of Washington and follow from there. As soon as you select a city in a country, it will connect you. .

  17. You can do that, yes. I find it less convenient but it's a matter of choice. I'd try them both and see which suits you.
  18. In fact, you don't even need to do that: Check here: https://www.expressvpn.com/support/vpn-setup/setup-mi-box-vpn/
  19. You sideload (UhOh) the XpressVPN app onto your Mibox and run it from there. I do exactly that PM me if you need help. Sideloading meand you go and download the XpressVPN android app (APK file) from a PC or even a phone. Then copy that over to your MiTV and run install on it. Voila - you will have the XpressVPN app and can run your settings from there. https://www.expressvpn.com/support/vpn-setup/app-for-android/
  20. OK, I suppose it depends on your setup. I just have an android box (MiTV) and can change vpn locations from the installed app. If I had to access the router I would have to switch on my laptop and access it that way. For me, that's a pain.
  21. Problem with that is that you can't change IP addresses as easily as with a VPN. Sometimes content is available in one location and not another or Netflix recognises you are using a VPN. With a VPN it is a matter of just choosing another location whereas with a DNS it's more of a job to reconfigure your router. Horses for courses..
  22. Mine is R765.18 for a GS 1200 Adv
  23. Don't go back.... It's a slippery slope filled with marketing and free coffees and before you know it you'll have bought a leather jacket, bandanna, some dark shades and will be getting tats and growing a ponytail. And you won't be able to go around corners, let alone do another u-turn.

  25. Spokey, A friend of mine has a guesthouse in George and has offered me free accommodation. I may ride up there sometime in the next couple of months and if I do I will try to contact you to arrange a ride. Are you a member of wilddogs?
