  1. Yes I see so. I tried to look it up in Netflix but no go. Talking of Netflix, am I the only person who finds their search facility maddeningly illogical and non-functional? It searches for what you type, lists it in the list of results, but not in the viewable options because they don't have it? Why return it in a result set if you don't have it. Result of search could return alternative recommendations, sure, but not the existence of a title you don't have.
  2. Anybody watch Baptiste?
  3. I read on Wilddogs that it's not true. Dunno.
  4. Photo please..Gotta see this
  5. Yes, I think each port has 5V or 500Ma. If you connect a hub, isn't that divided by the number of hub ports?
  6. ..Clever woman, your wife..
  7. ..But not everyone wants to boot up a PC every time they want to watch TV. And as for DSTV now, you are reliant on piggybacking on someone else's fees. Besides, in my case at least although it is obviously not true for everyone, the whole point of this exercise was to get away from DSTV. As others have said here, sport and other things can be found and streamed. Just want to add on e comment to Grebel's informative post. Having multiple USB ports is important and I balked at buying the Mi TV because it has only 1. However, I have added a USB hub and run a couple of things off it. Not ideal but it works for a keyboard and mouse..

  9. The Mi TV box I posted above is a media box with Chromecast built in. Best of both worlds.

  11. Is it perhaps not VPN related?
  12. Geez, that's terrible. Does he have family and support here? Happy to visit him if not.
  13. Sorry to hear Boet. We're a small, vulnerable community. I wish you comfort and quick peace..
  14. I tried OsmAnd and couldn't get it to work satisfactorily. Have you tried maps.me? It requires an initial download of a region but then you can use it without connectivity.
  15. Impressive. How the heck do you ride on that surface?
  16. Anyone here seen the series "Beyond Sahara"? It's not about the Guptas. Documentary about a group of guys riding through Africa from Cairo to Cape Town. Really cool. I'd be so keen to do something like that. For those who stream...
  17. .. "putting the expedition at risk". How so? Surely he's saving on tyre wear?
  18. I've never ridden one and believe they are great but I am just so put off by that front exhaust header sticking down all on its own down there. It just looks like it's asking to be bumped.
  19. No, you don't have access to the normal Apps because it has Android TV installed, not Android. So no way to load Apps like file explorer, Chrome or your browser of choice or any App other than those Google approved. It's a Pain in the neck. So here's what I did: Used another machine(My phone in my case) and downloaded APK files from apkpure.com. Just search for what ever it is you want (ES File Explorer, Chrome, NatGeo, BBC etc) then saved all the APKs onto a USB stick. Then installed them onto the Xi Box from the Stick. At that point they were installed but did not display in the Home screen so I installed this: https://apkpure.com/display-info/ngl.utils.display which does show on the home screen and on opening, displays all the sideloaded Apps you have installed.Sort of a container for sideloaded APKs. Anybody want help, just PM me.
  20. Hmm, just the one. And no SD card slot. I have attached a USB hub and am happy to report that my IR keyboard and mouse both work although not in all situations. I don't know if I will need to have extra storage. I know that on my older device I never use the SD card so I hope not. The device is clearly set up for streaming with Android TV and had no apps loaded which would be of use in a normal Android device. So, no file explorer, browser, and any other apps which you may have used. I had to sideload them using my phone and a micro USB but it went pretty seamlessly although I had to stop the updates on every single existing app as they were configured to update automatically and were doing so, blocking everything else. Once that was done, other installs went fine. I have been warned that sideloaded apps won't work properly but the only one not working properly is Euronews. BBC, Nat Geo, Mobdro and all my others work fine. ExpressVPN too. Netflix was preloaded. Interface is cool, as is the remote with voice control. Overall, happy but still to explore it fully. Now I just need to establish a reliable fibre feed and complimentary mobile data package for my phone and I'll be away. Let me know if you have any questions or want screenshots.
  21. Great to hear. Now I have a go-to contact for problems.
  22. Grebel, Got this today. Let's see how setup goes over the weekend....
  23. Interesting info on this thread. Anyone got an opinion on the Canon GX1 MK 111? I'm looking at a compact to take on bike rides and my SLR is too big, as well as being a bit dated. This Canon, while being limited on Zoom abilities, seems to be pretty well specced.
  24. Has he taken his frustration out on the door?
